  • Yeah i've seen better times from the SS Camaro, ive seen drag videos of the SS beating out an SRT-8 Challenger and barely getting pulled by GT500s, as for the weight ive never had a problem with the it, Camaros have always been a little heavier, little more powerful, and slightly pricier than Mustangs, i really think Camaros need a track pack option, add 3.70s or 3.80 gears on a live axle (more durable gearing lower costs) and that notorious stiff as hell Camaro performance suspension

  • you shift like a little girl.

  • Other test have came in at 13.0, 110 MPH stock. I think guys like this take it to the track before it's broke in, don't know how to drive it at 100% of it's potential, and probably don't even use premium gas. The factory exhaust is restricting as well. This car's only real flaw I can see is that it's a little too heavy, & I wish GM would have put in the effort to shave off 200 lbs. Oh well, aftermarket part like headers & exhaust, intake, & thermostat, etc. will help out a lot.

  • This car is easy 12s. seems like everyone that drives this car is afraid to use the full power. Gotta do the no lift shift.

  • You need a solid rear axle in that thing or some better tires. My 06 Mustang GT Auto., w/ basic bolt ons = 300rwhp and 306rwtq. (appx. 355hp at the crank) will run high 12's in the 1/4 (best 12.8 @ 110) with the stock 3:31 gears, control arms, and rubber! How does a 426hp car muster only a mid 13sec 1/4 mile? IRS or not, thats messed up! I hope it's just not hooking up on those street tires.I like the new camaro but I hope we see better results down the road.

  • Yea, they are on par with the 98-02 Ls1's. My 01 SS went 13.50 at 106 bone stock with a 2.2 or 2.3 60 ft. . Better 60 ft times will net low 13's. He bogged the car out the gate just like I did mine. 2.0/ 2.1 60 ft with street tires are possible.

  • 2.3 60ft.......you know you can get a better run resulting in better times.....should be atleast 13.1 in the 1/4

  • I'm a little disappointed in the SS. My stock 2002 SS ran 13.2 and was rated at 325hp. Whats the weight on the new Camaros?

  • i like the gearing, sounds like 4th is gonna be a tad bit long :(

  • Edmunds got 13.0 here on youtube. Imagine with a 1.6-1.8 60ft! As more of these hit the road, wouldn't be surprised to see 12's.

  • rs not ss!

  • the camaro ss and challenger rt are almost the same when it comes to the 1/4, but mark my words, you mopar and shelby fans are going to hate the Z28 camaro with that ZR1 motor in it

  • 52 in first gear, damn

  • not bad, will be sick with some boltons.. You should try crossing the trap in 3rd.

  • HPE700 edition would be even better

  • car and driver and road and track both got a 13.1@111 with the manual, and a 13.2@109 with the auto if i can remember, so therers def more in her. id love to get one of these! too bad insurance would probably rape me...

  • HA! Shelby GT500, that thing cant touch a Cobra, The new GT well run that thing easy, it well be a drivers race with the advantage going to the camaro

  • Compare the price of a Cobra against this. Now put the remaining dollars into performance upgrades and see what happens.

If the Z28 ever comes out it will eat a gt500. And I drive a Mustang...

  • 13.0 my ass lol lol

  • awesome

  • Nice...even on the poor 60ft and short shifting it put up some serious mph... going to be in the 12s easy with a capable driver and conditions.

Any idea what the DA was?

  • short shifting

  • We are going to re-test the car tomorrow and try to get the 60 ft time closer to 2.0. That should give a more representative ET for the car. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Damn my bone stock 2000 SS went 2.0 60ft. 8.64 1/8 at 84 mph Automatic.

How long till you run it again?

  • so how many runs did you guys do? was that the best of the bunch?

  • Interesting clip, but I think with a few more runs he could bring this down some more as grows more intimate with the car. Maybe, maybe not...

  • A little bit more rubber burn and slightly quicker shifting and I think you can get at least a 13.2

  • LOL @ all these kids crying about their dream Camaro only being as fast as a stock Mustang GT. You morons complain about the driving, as if the car is an 11 sec car but the driver sux. lol, relax people... I'm sure it will get a little faster. This was just a "take it easy" base run for now. Don't get your panties in such a wad over a camaro.

  • My thoughts exactly. Trenaur, jdrdracing, deanh8, and hz28.... grow up or shut up.

  • Maybe I over reacted, but Trenaur, jdrdracing, deanh8, and hz28 all sound like overly critical jerks. If you drive better, drive better then. Use your hands, feet, and eyes, but please shut up with clowning other people.

  • About 2,200 rpm was all we could launch the car at without spinning the stock tires. Our 60 ft time was 2.32 seconds, so there is a lot of time to be made up right there! With drag radials a 1.8 or 1.9 should be possible. John kept the shifts somewhat conservative. The stock Camaros should be good for some low 13s, maybe high 12s. We will have some more video action coming soon!

  • I certainly hope you re do this stock test though. Because as it stands now it just appears you are dogging it now to try and trump up the performance gains that you guys are going to mod onto the gain.

Please re do this stock test...there are lots of other reviews that perform much better stock. If you can't get an accurate baseline then any other videos you post after this with the car modded are pointless as well to your cusotmers.

  • We posted the time slip so that you can see the 60 ft. time, and included the in-car video so you can see the how easy we shifted the car on this run - keep in mind the car is brand new so we didn't want to stress it too hard!

We will have a dyno video with stock dyno numbers coming soon - and dyno numbers tell the real story (compared to 1/4 mile times) when comparing the stock numbers to our upgrade kits for the Camaro, like our HPE550 and HPE700 supercharged packages.

  • we made a few runs on a warm humid day with a head wind. all runs were made with traction control off. any more rpm over 3000 and the tires would spin. tires were at full tire pressure. we may try it again with the TC on. there is no doubt that if we let some air out of the rear tires it would 60 ft. quicker. i am sure that under ideal track conditions and with plenty of seat time that the car is capable of 12.9-13.1 times at 110 mph. but it is what it is.

  • i think they are truing to convice you to get their performance packs

  • That was pure crap driving. Coming from you guys I would have expected better :(

  • a person without boobs could do a lot better i think:)

  • that car is way faster than that....he shifted way to early....could have held second and third way longer...

  • and pretty slow shifting

  • Agreed, 2.3 60' is horrible. Probably hasn't mastered launching it yet. A 2.0x 60' would get that thing in the 13.0x range fast.

  • You'd probably have gotten much better results with a good launch, or even if you just used the launch control. That launch didn't look good at all.

And I would shift at a higher RPM, likely eliminating the need to make the time consuming shift to 4th at all. I'd bet this time is more than half a second slower than it could be.

  • So whats first? All motor or twin turbo? Cam and heads could be fun, but cam heads and 2 GT2871Rs could be a lot more fun.

  • I think a supercharger would be best :)

  • Not bad, I'd say. It must weigh a good bit.

  • NICE
