Have heard that fiberglass masks can ruin latex masks under them...but i have also heard that if the inside is painted and sealed with something like Kryon sealant it will be fine? Can you clarify please? Thanks

No. the remake mask was more like your second version on the VS mask; more bowl and oval shaped. The remake you have looks like a part 4 mold... perhaps replicating or exactly like Ken's mold? hmmm, I am skeptical about this. Who needs fiberglass anyway? you arent playing hockey with it! you are using it for display or a costume.

@jasondaman8 I do, but I respectfully disagree. I like my collectibles to have some authenticity. In the case of Jason's mask, it makes sense for it to be made of fiberglass, because the design is based on a vintage Fibrosport hockey mask that was common when the third installment of the franchise was made.

However! This is just my taste for a collectible mask. Jason's mask in part 3 was made from a back-painted transparent material of some sort. That's why it was so shiny.

@TempleOfSin You are right and entitled to your own opinion, but the mask from the third movie was made from .90 ABS plastic that was clear so they could paint the back white and the front white, and when the white on the front wared off, it would reveal the white in the back; like in part 4. as you may know, the original mask was made by Ken Tarallo at frightStuff. His masks are the real deal.

@jasondaman8 Ah, good memory. Yes, you remember a bit more about it than I do... but there was an entire team of people involved in the conceptualization and creation of Jason's masks. But you're right that Ken was one of the key people involved in making them.

@jasondaman8 However, if I were to obtain such a precise replica of a key movie prop, I would probably just put the money up to obtain the authentic prop. I have a few rubber and plastic prop swords from various movies in my collection. But I do also have tempered steel replicas of movie swords that work as functional swords. My standard calls for either a prop replica made from authentic materials, the actual prop, or failing that, a precise replica.

@jasondaman8 I should at least clarify this. If I obtained a fiberglass replica, it would be a replica I would allow visitors to handle. It would be wonderful to have an ABS replica of the actual screen used mask as well (including simulated damage from the shooting of the film)., but such a prized replica would be isolated in a display case, or at least a shadow box on the wall.

I'm also a sword collector, and this is just my standard for collection (continued)

@jasondaman8 So until I can get an actual screen-used part 3 Jason mask, I'll opt for a fiberglass replica made to the same standard of the original hockey mask upon which the Jason mask was based so visitors can appreciate the craftsmanship, particularly visitors who don't have an insight into the construction of the original props. does this make sense?

@plasticfavors Part 3 had the most developed characters. Part 3 also had a very unique mask, it was a tranparent mask and it was painted white on the inside. If you do a little research on line you can find out about the details. I think some sellers are actually offering the clear mask with painted inside now, like the original.

See this is why the mask in part 3 was so shiny.

The masks are about 1/8 inch thick, they have a little flex but are much more sturdy then a plastic mask. Orders take about 1 week usually.
