The only way they can even remotely hope to do justice to these books is by approaching them much the way Peter Jackson approached LOTR. They need to do something THAT grand, on that kind of scale, for each & every book in order to even think of capturing the essence of this series. I'm a huge Gerry Butler fan, but he is NOT Jamie in my heart. As someone else said, I hope they cast smart, not popular. Max Martini would have my vote as Jamie, he could pull it off no doubt. Fabulous actor!

I think these books should be a series just like harry potter books it is much more interesting. I think 99% of men and women would luv it. It would be as big as gone with the wind . I watch that movie the outlander nothing at all like the books . This has to be done the books are fantastic. Love them so much and would buy all the movies also. It is finally being made

Essential Pictures has launched development of "Outlander" as a potential franchise based on the Diana Gabaldon series of fantasy novels.

The newly minted shingle's out to directors with an adaptation from Randall Wallace ("Braveheart"); the goal is to start production next spring. Gabaldon's series of six novels center on an 18th century Scottish Highlander and his time-traveling wife.

Movie or Mini series I would just love to see it on the Screen. Granted Movie means more big name stars but at the same time a mini series on Showtime or Hbo would allow more of the story to be there and as much as I would love to see My Gerry as Jamie I would not be opposed to a new face if they could make me love the Character as much as I do when I am reading Diana's words. So again either way I just wanna see it on screen.

Maybe a miniseries would allow the story to be told in it's entirety and not get chopped as it would in a movie. Though a made for TV miniseries wouldn't get the big names everyone wants to have star in it. It would be too much of a compromise. I say movie.

i also think that a movie would be better. Would catch and keep teh atmosphere which is so important. And I think that there SHOULD be a mivie. Anyone who is afraid that a movie could destroy their imagination of the characters...well, they are not forced to watch it, right? Its an individual decision

I think any attempt to bring this story to film would just butcher the book(s). Some things are just better left to the imagination. No film version could do the story justice and I doubt I would watch it.

eh gia, a forza di parlare in inglese mi si sta fondendo il cervello XD

comunque la straniera è davvero un bel libro . è il primo di una serie basata su Claire, un infermiera inglese che si trova catapultata per sbaglio nella scozia del 1743, e Jamie, un giovane guerriero scozzese che si innamorerà di Claire.
