    and maybe the gtr can go to the finish line at more or less 260 kph faster than the zr1

  • the gtr's speedometer at the finish line says 263 kph at 1:14. but when it shows the result it says 256 kph.

    ZR1 is fast in a straight line, everyone knows this. Although, it's funny how this new 2011 GTR with 100hp less is only 2 mph slower from a roll...

    Actually, it's not funny, it's called "engineering".

  • @baggy7981 it's actually short gear man...not that hard. from a roll negates traction issues from a dig. all in the gearing. same reason why a 300 horsepower rally car does 0-60 in 1.9 while a F1 with 750 does 0-60 in 2.3

    those are the standard seats for this model, look closely and you'l see there covered in leather.

    anyhow nice test, to bad its only in a straight line, not very exciting if you ask me...

  • I agree. Simply the wrong gear on the LFA to start. Selecting 2nd gear at 50 km/h with 2000 rpm when 1st gear goes till 86 km/h is very very questionable. Lexus LFA's first gear would have offered A LOT more torque pulling from 50 km/h than it did here when Hattori used 2nd gear at only 2000 rpm. I can guarantee, LFA would have pulled immediately due to 400 lbs lighter weight and also turbo lag in the GTR, no doubt.

  • @gt500hyun You are correct as it is possibly rules, but definitely very silly and nonsense rules without taking into consideration gear/redline for best acceleration.

    Reason being, all of the 3 other cars in the video rev up to only 6700 rpm and their gear ratios only allow them to start in 2nd gear at 50 km/h making it the optimum gear.

    Lexus LFA on the other hand revs up to 9500 rpm so the gear ratios are designed to work with that 9500 limit so 50 km/h puts 1st gear as the ideal gear.

  • What a bunch of cr*ck! So Hattori start the Lexus LFA in 2nd gear from 50 km/h at only 2000 rpm?? That is like chopping the leg off the LFA to give the GTR a chance. LFA in 1st gear at 50 km/h roll with the throttle response would have immediately pulled the 400 lbs heavier GTR

    The Lexus LFA gear ratios are optimized to start from 1st gear at 50 km/h with powerband stretching to 9000 rpm yet, they blatantly wanted to give GTR a fighting chance by starting the LFA in 2nd gear.

    That is bullsh*t!
