    what a bunch of n00bs

  • this tells you how to use it... you guys are probably just 10 years old and dont want to learn how to use dos and are hoping for an easy way

  • Thank you Dave Andrews for showing me nothing.

LMAO I thought exactly the same, how weird that I should scroll down to find your comment. I gave your comment the thumbs up, lol. In his description it says he has a degree in computer science, but it does not say in presenting so people should stop mocking him, he has a degree, yeah a degree of stifness!

  • At the end he should of said My name is Dave Andrews and I just showed you "What you already know!"

Just a bit fun Dave, but my grandparents are in their 90,s and they want to buy a computer to use DOSBOX for games in the 1930s. I have shown them how to turn it on, and I just got a call to say they have found your channel here on youtube. Dave from the bottom of my heart, keep it up bro!!

  • @gary72carol61 >for games in the 1930s. Wat

  • Dave Andrews is from Mobile, Alabama Yawl

  • Dosbox is awesome if you know how to use it,,,,was finally able to play toonstruck again after about 10 years.....

  • u rly didnt

  • I Barfed When You Turned Around

  • Okay, that's easy. I could've done that. Now show my how to run Wolfenstein without getting an illegal command error. Maybe THEN I'll go to your videos if I need help for something.

  • The man just showed you how to navigate your entire directory... if you can't figure out the rest, you're useless.

  • When he turned his chair around slowly at the beginning I expected to hear Darth Vader's theme.

  • Have u ever heard of SCREEN RECORDING SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE CAMSTUDIO OR SNAGIT

  • ookey i dont now shit!!

    Thanks a lot for nothing!

    Cheers!

  • @nargarothfreak look at my video for an easy way to run a game in dosbox

  • apf the 1 video that u need is .. just drag and drop the exe on the dosbox icon xD

  • LAWL NERD

  • Jus show how to run DOS games... no need that. :)

  • Okay people. A lot of you are having trouble with this "\" slash. Just press the button above the "enter" or "return" button on your keyboard.

  • @generalcircle That would work if everyone had the American keyboard layout. Indeed, DOSBox was created to utilize the American layout by default, but most of the users do not have the said configuration. I actually happen to have two extra buttons that are non-existent on an American keyboard, but the button left of the backspace key, the one containing the backslash character, is missing!

Really, the easiest way to access the \ character is via the ASCII code table. Can't go wrong with that.

  • @frothfrenzy Nobody cares if you have an american keyboard or not. Just buy one and use that. Forget you and your ASCII table (people only use that to find char nums for programs)

  • how do you get the slash on a vista laptop i can not find it anywhere. english keyboard too?

  • @AlJayRobins13 Either use the ASCII code table via the numeric keypad, or the "keyboardlayout" variable inside the DOSBox config file. You can activate the keypad over the NumLock button, and it's typically used on laptops via the keys "789uiojklm". As for the "keyboardlayout" variable, you can go to "dosbox (dot) com (slash) wiki (slash) KEYB" and find out which keyboard layout allows you to use the backslash key.

  • how do you make that slash?

  • @pom0daz you mean this "\" slash or "/" slash?

  • @generalcircle Obviously he's looking for the backslash character "\"... something that Buddha over here quite forgot to explain, among many other things.

What about output methods, sound emulation, CPU cycles, IPX support, CD-ROM mounting? I mean, not even the simplest of commands was explained properly, so I guess you could just discard everything else and call it a day.

For an Expert Village, this sure has a newbie flavor to it.

  • ok, lol i just wanna kno how to play warcraft 1... anybody have anyway i could figure out how to?

  • I played it without using DOS.

  • when you use dosbox do you run games with it or do you install games or can you both ?

  • both. great for native dos games, apps and dos/win95 games.

it is a dos emulator, so most operations in dos, can be carried out through dosbox.

if using it often, you may want to mount a c drive path using the dosbox.conf file (add a line at the bottom of the text file:

    example::

    mount c c:\dbox

    and for cd-rom usage::

    mount d f:\ -t cdrom

    cheers
