mushroomhead was around years before slipknot even was a thought. and was the first band with masks! a grudge they had against slipknot is about how they were signed before them because they had masks and played similar styles of music but were in different markets. both bands are awesome reguardless, but mushroomhead has changed their image imensely to give themselves a broader edge that can take them in numerous directions as long as they are willing to follow it....

If they are similar in ways it's because it's impossible to be otherwise. Like D3r3k said, many bands have copied others, or they just happen to sound the same. I'm just tired of going to Mushroomhead videos and seeing the same shit over and over, same with Slipknot.

I think it's funny how people compare the masks even though they are completely different from one another. What's the point? You do like mushroom head or you don't. And you either like Slipknot or you don't. Personally I don't like the band just for their masks, but you know, for their music to? I know it may seem crazy but that's the way I am. They are both good bands.

MASKS ARE UNIVERSAL! THEIR IS MASKS IN ALMOST EVERY NATION ON EARTH. SO FOR SOMEONE TO SAY THAT A BAND COPIED ANOTHER BECAUSE THEY WEAR MASKS IS LIKE SAYING A BAND COPIED ANOTHER BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY MUSIC. JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE WEAR MASKS AT HALLOWEEN DOESNT MEAN THAT EVERYONE COPIED ONE ANOTHER. MASKS HAVE BEEN AROUND WAY LONGER THAN ANY F THIS MUSIC. Something no one seems to discuss or mention is the possibility that these bands came up with there looks without any influence from the music industry. So many bands out there that surely some of them must come up with some of the same ideas.

I'm tired of seeing Slipknot mentioned in every Mushroomhead video I watch and vice versa, Mushroomhead is industrial, Slipknot is nu-metal two totally different genres. If you want to play the copying game then I can silence you all.

@D3RK3 LOUDDD NOISES, NOT SILENT!! your argument is full of holes and even contradicts itself :) i bet i could do an hour of researching and make it look like you are from another planet and have no clue who any of these bands are. hey i can put one in here too! they all copied Greek theater; am i right? I think it would be difficult not to copy when putting a mask on is not at all uncommon (Halloween was yesterday) and performing music is even less uncommon. dont make me draw out the conclusion

Its sad to see Mr. Bungle doesn't get any props, Especially when they pretty much started the style that Mushroomhead & Slipknot use today in like '85. I guess i cant expect most of you to know anything about Mr.Bungle anyhow.

no offense but i cant stand mr bungle....i remember trying to listen to them back when i was in middle school...and again in high school...i just couldnt get into them...and as we speak i tried again just a few minutes ago and i still at 24 cannot stand them....
i hear absolutely nothing in this style of music versus mr bungle...i dont see industrial metal being fit in fusion rock and blues
