Manufacturers of all types and sizes were involved in the war effort. Today, the Bradley series of IFV's is made by the same people; FMC. Just as an aside, some of the stamped metal parts for the P-51 Mustang were made by the Maytag (yes, THAT Maytag) Corporation. One of the first nicknames for the P-51B was in fact, the "Maytag Messerschmitt" for this reason. Hope this helps...
A lot of people don't realize many companies throughout history either supported war production or flourished because it produced war machines. Mitsubishi made war planes, Bentley made motors for aircraft as did Mercedes. It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
