high viperman how are you? love your vides watch them all the time i think its grate! i do have to things to ask of you. i wood like for to put more video of MR.Green. i hade a fue rattle's and i sold them to my freind, we bouth have handlers permets but i want a black momba, just for the the fact that i think they are beautful. i wood like to no if you no how i could go about get one and how much they wood go for. and more info like temp the best food for one,
ok this is the first video of yours ive seen i plan on watching most of yours but do you have antivenom or do you inject venom to become immune? how do you work with dangerous snakes?
There's a fairly new exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC called Lizards & Snakes: Alive! Mostly lizards, but they do have a nice Red Spitting Cobra exhibit and a hilarious display of a Gaboon Viper and an Eastern Green Mamba cohabitation. The mamba was crawling all over the poor gabby the afternoon I visited. Needless to say, there were some rather large pupils involved when that happened. Exhibit runs through 9/2/2010.
do you still keep gabby..She is my fav of your collection. I keep reticulated pythons myself but one day hope for a gaboon.. Love your vids keep em coming
Ituri makes me laugh, I love how you point out that she will never successfully stalk prey in the wild when she takes so long and huffs and puffs so loudly.
Maybe I spend too much time watching your videos, but it looks like Scarlet in the same cage Little Red was in. It's good to see another Red Spitter. Little Red was an awesome snake.

So you are gonna cross breed a rhino viper with a puff adder, I've herd of 'Gabino Vipers', a cross between gaboon and rhino viper, whats it called a Puffino or Rhinuff viper
I have kept a couple of these for more than a year and they are indeed fast eaters and fast growers. Nice colored cobras with very narrow hoods that they hardly display. I love a broad hood so decided against keeping these. Cool snakes nevertheless. Got spat once in the left aye eye through the side of my goggles, not fun at all!
Scarlet is GREAT looking !!!! She is totally beautiful love the way she froze in defense. LOL "Please don't spit on my expensive camera!" Love it!!!! Awesome close up face captures!!!! Love your new camera Al :O) Very aggressive eater!!!! The Brown was all set to chase his food across the room had to startle you. Somebody just a bit upset? Listen to the huffing sound LOL She is magnificent looking and her colors are stunning!!!! Has to be the best close up feeding video I've ever seen.
@1softkiss : That huffing in the background is from the future mate to the big male puff adder I have... Just her way of reminding me she requires food.
@viperkeeper I may be considered strange but I love the vocalizing that snakes do. :O) Somewhat with the exception of a wide open mouth hiss however. LOL
@viperkeeper Yeah, I went with Mr. Cirrhosis and I thought it was amazing! If you can remember off the top of your head which specimens were yours, I'd love to know. I think I even got everyone on film at some point. The Dallas Zoo was amazing. I loved the alligator exhibt, minus that it seemed a little cramped for that many adult gators. The snake exhibits in that area were neat. I loved how they were designed.
another great video. just curious but how many king cobras are you currently keeping? I saw quite a few containers labeled as such. Keep up the amazing work!!

When working with venomous snakes are there certain snakes or even species you fear or are more cautious with? If so, what individuals or species do you take the most consideration with?
Watching Ituri eat was probably the best demonstration of snake feeding I've ever seen. You could see the placement of fangs on the outside of the rows of (palantine?) teeth used for walking the food down the throat. We went over this in Herp class, but I must have had a brain fart.
@darren08roberts To help Al avert the Horned Toad Blood from the eyes situation... Yes, and you can find them in about 50% of his videos. Look first, ask later.

one question what is the temperature in her cage? does she spit a lot?
I own one of these beautiful sankes and he is no were near as calm as that one mine starts to spit the instant I open the cage to feed him.

aren't you worried about impaction of the colon feeding wet food items on substrate?
crazeedrummer1 1 year ago
@crazeedrummer1 You tell me that snakes don't ingest substrate in the wild? They handle it fine as long as the snake is well hydrated.

@ameh78 : They are something like 0.25 cents...birds are natural prey items, most snakes love them...
