I've got to say that with this hair style...if it hadn't worked out with Glass Tiger...Alan Frew definitely could have pulled off the lead in a Sammy Hagar bio-pic. Great Song BTW.
They're not underrated because they were never good in the first place. They're just a so-so band, nothing special. A couple decent hits, but all & all, they're pretty forgetful.
@TAT2DJAX Your spot on about Watt St,my mum came from Greenock and i used to visit frequently so i knew bits of this where filmed there but apart from the Esplanade i didn't know this street and have just checked google street veiw and its bang on i wonder if those two old women ever knew they where in a rock video ps McCoist bits brillant as well your cuz did well
I never liked this song very much in the 90's. I thought it was kind of cool, but nothing too special. Now I realize it was the themesong of my youth.
I left Scotland for 14 years and listened to a lot of guff about missing "home" - but no song +captured being Glaswegian as this one did. And "Don't Forget Me (When I;m Gone" is the best song I ever heard circa 85-86 :-)
had this chorus stuck in my head all day and couldn't for the life of me find the song. finally found it and can rest in peace. brings back some happy memories. so much better without Rod
Was this version (without Rod Steward) ever officially released?
To me, ol' Rod ruins the song. I'd love to find a high quality mp3 of the song as it is in this video. If anyone knows where I can track it down, let me know. thx
sorry for my bad english writing, i´m austrian: i saw them as a supporting act of the swedish band Roxette when they played in Innsbruck/Austria in October 1991 !!! i have never heard any song of them before but this one is kept in my mind and ears forever, thanks a lot for this great song!!!
I got to preform with the bad back in 2006 or 2007 in Markham. Me and my bagpipe band where the opening act for them (more like a intro) we came in played a song and started playing the guitar lyrics to thin red line then the band came in. Alan and the band are so great and down to earth
Saw him tonight at Casino Rama and he did this My Towm. First time I heard it in over 10 years and it was like going back in time, what a wonderful trip to take. A pure class act too, he actually looked humble and embaressed at the applause.
saw alan frew live at the nova scotia casino in halifax about a month ago... omg sooo incredible and intimate setting was perfect for seeing him and actually talking to him and meeting him afterwards.. he's soo down to earth and easy to talk to.. I bought his book and was getting him to sign it.. and I called him Mr Frew out of respect.. and well he looked at me and smiled and told me to call him alan. my bf and alan both had a chuckle at me for me trying to be polite*LOL*:)
bring the wind to, carry me over , lead me home to ma town, tell me when that, breeze is blowin..takin me home..to my town classic from glass tiger 91
The Ex Scots pats unofficial anthem. This brings a tear to the een of many a Scot who has left for foreign shores. Scotia you made me all I can be.....
amazing song... i have had the opurtunity to shoot the shit with alan after kenny's going away show at mod club. amazing person...everything he says is from the heart. read his book; you will learn alot about life
Well from a girl from Glasgow who lives in TO and has been a GT fan since 1986, thanks for posting!! Conjured up great memories both from my childhood in Scotland and GT fan stuff. Thanks :)
"we were in L.A. recording and all the singers they had in for this duet weren't gelling with my voice. so i went across the street to the tim horton's and had a beer. when i came back out i saw this street person, with a big scruffy beard and leather gloves with no fingers on them and a sign that said 'Will Sing For Food'. So I thought to myself 'hey, why not let him try?' so I went over to him and i said 'Rod...'
Hopefully you will get a chance, I have seen GT once live in Burlington, Ont at the sounds of music festival they were brilliant. Then I seen Alan Frew at the Shilling and Stout pub Burlington doing a solo acoustic gig for a charity, super nice guy and so genuine.
Cool vid, but... Mr. Rod Stewart is missing here LOL! The version on the original CD (Simple Mission) features him. Too bad he was left out of the video :(
Alan used to come in all the time when I worked at Healeys... he's actually amazingly commited to the Toronto music community and is extremely approachable.. :)
I was at one of Alans shows in Toronto about 7 years ago and he sang this to his dd who was in the audience, you could see and feel the love he has forhis dad. This is a very touching song
Climie Fisher - Rise to the occasion (hip-hop remix) a black and white clip, and there's a color clip. Why there's a color clip to rise to the occasion for the black and white. How about Glass Tiger - My Town, a black and white clip, there's MUST be a COLOR clip same as clime fisher - rise to the occasion!~ Can anyone Tell me why????
Do you have color copy of this clip? Yes, it would be beautiful with color. The record company sure have the version of color clip- my town by alan frew.
