  • this is a great movie and my dad agrees considering the plot denies nerds like me from the satisfaction of nagging the producers on the many plot hole errors due to the fact that it is an alternate universe :)

  • The people who hate the new movie are just fans of TOS. But others like me never liked or saw TOS. The 60's portrayal of arrogant and unnerving men like Kirk as great guys is obsolete today. In this movie he is seen as an emotional crippled asshole whom no one likes. He even must be saved almost in every situation by others like Sulu. The other characters got also a modernisation especially Uhura. Great portrayal regarding that TOS sucked at showing women who are not cliches.

  • Well that's a very dismissive attitude towards those who didn't like this movie. I'm an fan of TOS and I wanted to like this movie but the Kirk in this movie is too much of an asshole and among other problems just made it difficult for me to like it. Kirk of TOS never grabbed a woman's breasts and then grinned about it like this Kirk did.

  • @mummra4ever O.K I may have been too harsh but the idea was to attract new and younger fans. In the movies of the last years there are several characters with emotional problems, criminal past etc. who overcame it. Kirk may just be an answer to this tougher kind of genre cinema. And it is clear that this is an alternate reality that shaped the persons. I see it as the beginning of a new series of films. This one is the pilot which tells how the crew came together. The actionplot is forgetable.

  • I know that's what it was trying to do but I just wish that they could have done that without getting rid of the more intelligent parts of trek because I still think they could have done so with that intact. Maybe the sequel will be more like that.

  • @mummra4ever Besides as someone who grew up in 90's with TNG and DS9, the new film presents the original crew in a better way. TOS is too 60's for me. Others who lived in the 60's may have a better understanding for it or feel nostalgia for that era. It's o.k. I feel the same way for the late 80's.

  • Well I'm not really all that nostalgic for TOS as I only watched it for the first time a few years ago and I think aside from things like the seeming sexist way towards women and the special effects the show holds up otherwise because of it's good characters and it's stories about the human condition which at the core of those stories is timeless to me.

  • @mummra4ever. Hi. Be careful with my "old friend" Zenuthedick, he loves a good fight but hates to lose. PS don't cave into people who know nothing about Trek, especially the ones who claim to have been watching it for decades. Some of them might be telling the truth but they never really understood Star Trek. Remember it's not nostalgia to want to preserve Roddenberry’s vision of Star Trek; it’s honoring an artist’s legacy. The new Trek is like putting paints on Michael Angelo’s David.

  • The actor for Sylar was made for the spock role...

    no born even xD

  • What didnt show up in the movie was that the Starfleet engineering team that designed the constitution class starships in the original time line as well as those responsible for the cadet uniforms and following uniform designs happened to be aboard the Kelvin before the tragedy. No explanations are available for the look of the Kelvin, its interior ect because this is before reality is altered.

  • "We've never known how Kirk and Spock met." This movie is not how they met, this movie only shows how they met after their reality was altered. Since this movie is the new reality the Classic series is nullified. The movies fits fine if we can say it subscribes to the Multiverse theory if so the classic series actually happened.

  • @Radioflyer911 well they met before the major 'paradox' event so it kinda does fit

  • I wasn't even a fan, but I felt the nostalgic feelings and excitements.

  • Huge fan, surprisingly the only bad actor in the whole movie (as much as I still love him) was Mr. Nimoy lol, guess the writers didn't really know how to handle his older character! Even though it was a re-imagining of the show it was still an original storyline which is sadly lacking in hollywood these days. Unbelievably good movie!

  • Why is this movie called just Star Trek? and is this adventure before TOS?

  • I love it how you all absolutely hate it, but it is the complete embodiment of the Sci Fi Genre. It's a simple question- what happens if something mucked up time and everything was different? The movie does a GREAT job at exploring this, not to mention the fact that the casting was perfect, the directing was amazing, and to be honest it's one of the very few movies to have been released recently.

  • Star trek is finally way cooler than star wars and i dont say that lightly.

  • It'll never beat the classics ;) But the new Starwars are quite shitty.

  • I went to see it opening day it was so amazing some people broke in to applause at at the end and when Spock prime shows up.

  • ive seen this movie on a plane it dead cool but some parts sad because Jims dad dies in a colision with a romulum ship

  • I remember when the kid says his name is james kirk. and everyone in the movie theatre got very quiet like thye couldnt believe it.

  • realz? people were clapping when they heard that!

  • this movie was ace!!! cnt beat the original captain kurk thou xD

  • Questionable casting of Spock and kirk, but then again is hard to fill the shoes of Leonard Nimoy and Willian Shatner.

    Great movie though.

  • I agree, they should have hired better actors for the two lead roles. I thought all the supporting actors were great, most better than the originals, but the Spock and Kirk actors turned an otherwise 10.0 movie into an 8.0.

  • buenisimo!!!5*

  • Nice Movie...

Hope there is more to come!!!

  • Haha, ''Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence.''

Who in the hell doesn't love Bones? He's so awesome.

  • The movie has a story, but it isn't that much the old trekkies like, cause the new generation comes with another demands.

The crew is fine, effects are 10 on 10 and one words come into my mouth: ENORMOUS.

It's a sin to watch ot on the PC or TV. Big 29" LCD is a must !!!.

  • I absolutely loved this movie!! And I am completely in love with Zachary Quinto as Spock.

  • spock is os sexy he is undiscribeabkle

  • anyone know the name of the song playing in the trailer

  • I know the song is so awesome

it's possible it's the theme song from the series

  • Brian Tyler's "War Begins" is the song!!!

    It's so awesome

  • Freedom Fighters by Two Steps from Hell

  • This movie is out of this world good ;)

Everything about is epic and kick - ass.

It's around 10 times better than it looks here in the trailer.

  • This movie was so awesome!!!

  • Oh my God, the Trailer is not even near being near being as fantastic as the film. :) And the Trailer is amazing. :D

    5 stars, easy. :)

  • god the first scene with young Kirk is SO much better in the movie with "Sabotage"

  • If you want to see Star Trek the movie for free, follow this link:

    moviem*tv/action/star-trek/

  • It's amusing to see the geeks' righteous indignation about this film. I've been watching for 30+ years and I was delighted with this movie, the cast and the story. I can't wait to see it again.

  • i agree! it rules

  • god bless you

  • good film ftw, not a fan myself but i liked it and i expected alot of old star trek fans to get annoyed at the remake, what with replacing the old story and all but everyone seemed pretty good with it. :D

    ALSO: WEEGEE

  • The movie is so goood!!!

  • watch in imax brilliance, costs more but it was fantastic in HD

  • This idiot director put a sex scene into Star Trek???

Hell no! That's the biggest fuckup you could do to Star Trek. Besides the actor playing Scotty is so un-Scotty, has no credibility whatsoever. Why did they have to appeal to the lame masses? Start Trek was designed for those who get it not for those who watch X-men and

    X-files and other commercial shit

  • actually...it's not really a sex scene.

  • It's unfortunate that Sondano envisions a sexless future. Me, I hope there's plenty of it.

Does anyone else find it funny that someone who sneers at material aimed at "the lame masses" has an ABBA video among his Favorites?

  • haha get on!! i agree

  • I'm a huge Star Trek fan, I was raised with it and I was completely more than satisfied with this film, the way it was handle/filmed etc. and the new casts' portrayal of characters that I've known since I was a child.

  • If you were not so stuck with head in your ass you woould know that Star Trek has so many things in common with sex. The firts interracial kiss on TV, dealing with homosexuality etc. Star Trek is full of sex but you just don't get it.

  • Yeah, it's not like the original series never used sex, implied sex, sex scenes, or attractive women every other episode to grab ratings.

  • @sondano it must SUCK to be you.

  • SPOCK NOT SPOKE, MY BAD!!!

  • I was never a Star Trek fan, and hell, I didn't know the first thing about Star Trek, but I went and saw the movie last Sunday and I loved it so much that I'm going to make myself a fan by renting all the seasons and watching every freaking episode, no matter how long it takes

  • lol, that is EXACTLY what happened to me, except I will find another way then renting all the seasons XD

  • Yeah, I found that it's actually impossible to rent the seasons, so I bought the first season on Blu Ray and watched the first 3 episodes, and it is really starting to grow on me

  • You'll be very disappointed if all you're looking for is the various loud noises, flat characters, seizurriffic special effects, and random action sequences portrayed throughout the film.

  • hey what was the names of all backgorund music in thesre trailer

  • may be the best movie i've ever seen...could surpass curse of the black pearl for me...almost. it was friggin amazing and i'm no trekkie.

  • It was, without a doubt the best movie i've seen. I fell in love with Spoke(who was in love with Uhura, which i thought was beautiful). It was just amazing!

  • its spick lol not spoke

  • Well ,tis Spock, ik. i totaslly fucked up.

  • THIS MOVIE WAS EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ST XI, as i like to call it, is one of the very best sci-fi movies ever made. When it was over, I realized I hadn't quite had enough and was hoping for the remaining 4 hours (XII, XII) of the series. Honestly, even if you don't consider yourself a Star Trek fan, you need to see it. Brace yourself, if you try to follow the plot on your first viewing, you will be disappointed. The first time is for the action, enjoy it, then go back a few more times to understand the alternate realities.

  • I saw it and i never was a fan of Star Trek but i thought the movie was really awesome!

  • I saw it too, and I agree. :) But I also have to admit that I'm one of those "woodwork" fans. I just never got into it until now, even though I watched all the episodes as a kid...

  • One thing I've noticed is that since this movie came out, a lot more Startrek 'fans' are coming out of the woodwork.

  • ah, this is true. i'm no new star trek fan, myself. my mother grew up on star trek, so i did, too. :) i haven't seen the movie yet but i'm pretty sure it's going to be awesome

  • it is i saw it 10/ 10 !

  • it looks good i need 2 go see it but ive been 2 busy

  • oh man its so good i saw it last saturday and i was on the edge of my seat the whole time... so when you have i strongly suggest seeing

  • this is called a trailer not a sneak peak.

  • ummmm, i was realty disappointed....the spock character was compromised by the romance with uhura....totally fucked up spocks persona.

  • love this whole movie...the whole alternate reality thing. epicness

  • I like this movie

  • loved this sooo much! they did such a good job

  • EPIC MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The movie was awsome. I absolutly loved it! Was it just me, or the person who played Spock was very attractive...

  • zach!! hehe yea he is =D he plays sylar in heroes!!

  • i know right at first it was like eh but then it was like actualy pretty cute

  • this movie was effing sweeeeeet - saw it last night.

    cast were all awesome!

    scotty was hillarious!

spock and kirk were sooo good :)

cant wait to see it again.

  • CHILLS! Saw this last night at Paramount. So sweet.

It is Teh Awesome covered in the SQUEE!

    LOVED IT!

  • Kirk is made captain of Enterprise, Spock signs on as First Officer. Scotty, Bones, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov are all there too. So in the end, same crew, but for some of them, different personalities and relationships. IE, in this timeline, Spock and Uhura are in a personal relationship.

  • and what year is this set

  • nd who plays kirk

  • why is spok nd his dad fighting is it because spok joined star fleet i nver found out

  • i have seen the FUCKING movie

  • I heard that cop at the beginning was played by Tom cruise?

  • The story was that Tom Cruise was to play Christopher Pike, not a cop.

  • "What is our name?"

"My name is James Tiberius Kirk."

"What is your quest? .... What is your favorite color?"

  • seeking the holy grail .... blue , no wait yellooooooooow

  • GREEN! :D

    Gotta go with green.

  • "Jimmy, have you ever seen a grown man naked?"

  • "I want a 6-foot trench dug around the base. Fill it with gasoline!

Get women and children to the shelters.

    Contact the Japanese ambassador.

Rorshack, get me a complete file on everyone who's seen The Sound Of Music more than four times."

On second thought, kill those orders.

    Down scope."

  • "Loneliness, that's the bottom line. I was never happy as a child... Christmas, Ted, what does that mean to you? It was a living hell. Do you know what it's like falling in the mud and getting kicked, in the head? With an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does, that never happens. Sorry, Ted, skip that, it's a dumb question."

  • "Im not a fan of star trek but this looks badass"

this describes best the problem i have with this "trek" incarnation ... it simply uses the name star trek and its most famous characters to web new fans into the franchise while willfully ignoring the fans that made it live for so long ...

not such a smart move ... but ok, for me (!) as i see it most pre VOY trek-fans even don't consider "enterprise" canon and most surely won't consider this to be canon either

  • well, they played it in Austin, TX and they seemed to like it.

  • That snow monster is something out of Lost Planet for the Xbox 360 home entertainment console unit.

  • Wynona Rider is going to play spock's mom. Awesome.

  • RIP Majel :(

  • What about the fact that there's absolutely no story?

  • - You may be right on that

    - There is a Story thou and its a great Plot

    - The problem is its a little short

  • @ leewolfgang

I agree with you. Star Trek has been copying Star Wars for the last 11 years.

I want to see Star Trek moving forward, not back to the past (again), and showing how the crew of the Enterprise did (not) get together.

To me, this is just a bunch of razzle-dazzle for a younger generation which thrives on all flash and no substance.

  • @leewolfgang LOL, if it really bugs you that much, make your own damn version of the movie instead of whining about how it wasn't up to your standards. Have you forgotten that you're a NOBODY in all of this???

  • Im not a fan of star trek but this looks badass

  • This movie will rock several thousands of socks.

  • holy hell I flipped out.

  • To boldly go where everyone has gone before...

    ;)

    It looks good!

  • To boldly go where no man has gone before...

  • Coming next year.

  • SYLAR O:

  • looks brilliant.

  • Since when did the AP start showing movie trailers?

  • When news became just another form of entertainment..

  • im not even a star trek fan but i think i will be now lol

  • It looks good. I've always like the star war series better (don't kill me trekkies) but this has me excited. Must watch.

  • What is the name of this piece of music? Is it written solely for this movie? I think I've heard it elsewhere and would really like to know.

  • It's part of the score, which rocked amazingly. Michael Giacchino, who did the perfect "60's James Bondian spy flick music for "The Incredibles" did the music.

  • SWEET!

  • Alright, Harold and Sylar will be on it. This is probably the first time Star Trek looks good. Before that, it usually looked dumb and boring.

  • Ya know, I didnt get that Star Trek feeling with this preview. For one, the use carbon emitting automobiles in Kirk's time is ludicrous. Remember the ideals of ST IV?

  • I didn't see any carbon being emitted...

If you can suspend your sense of reality enough to enjoy Star Treks "technology", then maybe the possibility of the "rare priceless antique car" running on some zero emission fuel of the future is not too great a stretch...

  • You're right. Im just whining 'cause my original Star Trek crew is gone. Guess im gettin old! Thanx, Landrew120880.

  • We're still here!

I'm not getting old yet, but I right there with you!

  • It was revealed the car is an antique.

  • oh yes, yes, YES!

  • sounds awesome...

  • Did Abrams pay you for this blatant advertisement?

  • FINALLY A DECENT STAR TREK MOVIE!!!

  • wonder if hollywwood will ever make something original again

  • probably not...BUT this does sound cool...

  • i love it!
