I get why they didn't put this whole part in. They didn't want to reveal Bertha yet, I guess. But I'd loved it when they would've just put in a small bit of it. They didn't have to show her yet. Quite a shame actually..
At the German premiere of the movie I attended in Berlin, he explained why he chose not to include some of the scenes. As far as I remember, he said that he dropped the "iconic crazy-wife-tearing-the-veil"-sequence because he thought it interrupted the flow of the movie and that he wanted Jane and Rochester to spend a little more happy, idllic time together before everything falls apart at the wedding ceremony shortly thereafter.
@sballgatorgirl06 bahaha i noticed that tooo! its funny, idk if youve seen xmen first class...but jen lawrence, the beautiful blonde girl that kinda has a thing with him in the movie/their characters, shes like exactly his height i love it
@sballgatorgirl06 I noticed that too, but Michael Fassbender is like 6'1 and Mia W is like 5'4...like in their kissing scenes, i am continuously wondering what she's standing on.
@Mendacityfilms Mia is 5'4 rly?? but in most of the scenes together, even walking side by side, she seems pretty tall, I have seen photo of them outside the movie, she is tall, though it's most likely she is wearing high heels...in the shoes she wore on Jane Eyre didn't have much of a heel...curious
@sballgatorgirl06 Funny thing is, Michael Fassbender is 6 ft, but Mia W. is 5'4".... haha they must have put her on a step or something because 6 inches is a big difference!
@m3rrys0ngstr3ss Yeah...she's so gone that she just has those animalistic instincts i feel like. she doesn't want this girl to take him from her, but she doesn't want him either
@1234joeable yes, Valentina Cervi is way too beautiful for Bertha!! and has classical European features... no, this is not Bertha, this is still Antoinette Cosway...
@tubbymctubsta I agree. However Jane Eyre is a classic. People who have read the book are more curius to watch it although they already know what happens. That's the fun part about adaptations. I hate it when directors decide to cut scenes in order to create a suspense that isn't necessary. I would prefer he was accurate. This is my favourite version and if all the deleted scenes weren't deleted then it would be perfect! I have already watched it 3 times.

I watched all the deleted scenes and i think they deserved to have put all of them in the movie. they were all important scenes from the book!!! ugh!!
I am so devastated that they deleted this scene from the movie as well as the few others I have seen on youtube. They have all been so central to the relationship of Jane and Rochester. I felt that so much was missing between the two of them during the movie and I left the cinema disapointed... BAD CHOICE of the director to not have left them in the final cut.
Ok have a few of you been deleting yoru comments? Or is that YouTube f'ing up and thinking its spam and deleting it?? Because i'll get an email of the comment/it's NOT SPAM at all, then i come here to reply and its gone :/
The fact that this scene has score music in it tells us how close it was to staying. Darn. It would be difficult, I think for many modern women to understand why Jane would go through with the wedding, after this. But she was in a difficult strait: Mr R. would write any reference for her next job, and, as we see, her money would not take her far from Thornfield.
@hacsince1991 I agree, I mean there's that one moment when I think that Rochester is going to tell her the truth, but he doesn't. It just makes you want to the wedding scene where Jane finds out the truth that much quicker. By the way, I know I must sound like an complete nag at this point but are these the last of the deleted scenes. Say it ain't so.
@BlackButterfly447 Yeah :/ the last of Michael & Mia, the other couple are very short of her as a little girl and i dont think i'm going to bother posting those, they'll be on the dvd on august 16th. and there's one short one of mia walking by ms ingram talking to her mom, its about 30 seconds long
crazy lady -.-

@sballgatorgirl06 - I think, physically, the ideal portrayal of Jane was Zelah Clarke. She was TINY.

@sballgatorgirl06 Mia Wasikowska (Jane) is only 5'4" so she must be wearing heels or something.

See, this is why Bertha terrifies me, she's out of it but she's not so far gone as to recognize that *someone* is trying to steal Rochester from her.

i can see why they took this out. they wanted the mystery of his wife to be a huge twist to those who haven't read the book.
