Looking at this video for a second time the guy is not only lucky but completely inexperienced/incompetent. After pounding in a wedge (not far enough) he cut away the hinge completely and the tree sat down onto the saw bar. He is lucky that there was no wind to speak of otherwise the tree would have gone down wherever it was blown. You poor guy you have no clue how lucky you are.

Hi JR,glad ou got it down w/o getting hurt. as experienced faller, first comment I got is work safer.Dont let an accident ruin your career in the woods or as a FF. Dont work w/out helmet,Learn to plumb the tree before cutting it.If it backleans,Rig with a rope, and bore the middle of hinge so the wedge can pass thru it,keep it thick enough you dont bust it poonding wedges. Overall good, work on learning safety and smooth technique. Get Dents book!!I know you hate reading, but tough it out.
