Actually... if you want to know what the problem in the middle-east is i will gladly tell you.
You have it all backwards im sorry to say.
The people who end up going insane are brought up in a Theocracy. They think in terms of religion. So when someone comes to their country and bombs them they are forced to misinterpret their religion in order to justify the engagement of war.
Your comments treat the symptoms, not the cause. It's actually perpetuating the violence.
Nobody knows what made those men crash into the towers. They found a passport that fell through balls of fire and debris and somehow remained intact. The men in those photos were arab and that was good enough for you?
You see. you are not just an Atheist. An atheist by [PROPER] definition takes no part in theological discussion. You, however actively seek out the religious with the intention of ridicule and vilification. I'd say you're acting at lot like the few people you claim to hate.
Consider Plato's cave theory. Do you think if someone did understand the word of God anyone would believe them? No you'd ridicule that person for being part of a group you don't like (for things that happened in the 1700's and things that you believe on your tv.)
Has it ever occurred to you that I may have seen what your trash talk is doing on the other side of the world? I live in Europe, where it is illegal to pray in public and where I have actually seen people attacked for their religion.
"youre right, settlers wre illiterate. and as they got smarter they realized that more and more of the bible was untrue"
Ok let me speak your language then. Have you seen the documentary "NIM?"
It's about a chimp in the 70's that was put through an experiment. They raised a monkey in the same manner as a human. It was a complete failure. What they found is that an animal is an animal.
The sad truth about you is that you are throwing stones aimlessly at people you don't even know because you are either too stupid or too scared to blame the real offenders.
If you want to make a difference stop paying taxes. Be a martyr for you own beliefs or shut up. You're not hitting anyone you intended to with those stones.
You making the giant leap of comparing illiterate settlers to today's religious people. Since you we are that subject I will remind you again about soviet Russia.
Sure I'll get off my horse. After you get off yours. I'm not a christian. I don't turn the other cheek. You're wrong and I intend to humiliate you for it.
"im sure that the 40-50,000 people mentioned in the video were real glad that he told other humans not to suffer a witch to live"
The early books of the old Testament are the most boring pieces of literature I've ever come by, but I did read them. And here's what the Bible doesn't say. It doesn't say to kill witches or gays.
I can understand why the puritans in the 1700s may have had trouble with reading comprehension. But your conclusion is inexcusable.
So. I don't see a religion that causes any damage to our world.
Each time a few politicians use religion as their scapegoat and all the so called "liberal thinkers" buy it up. Start thinking on your own. A book cannot cause damage to the world. It's made of paper stupid.
That's your logic? It's more childish not to stick to your beliefs if you still agree with them?
Just a thought for you. That does not make a person close-minded. It just means there is no convincing reason for them to drop those beliefs. Science and religion are not directly opposed, so there never will be a good enough reason. You should find a hobby.
And yes it does bother me when I'm trying to watch a video about the history of a religion that I do not belong to and all i see is hate speech about them. This isn't soviet Russia. Religious beliefs deserve respect. I hope you don't behave like this toward everything you don't believe in. Because that would make you more than a skeptic. That'd make you an bully as well.
@354ac - Right. Because the theory that an exergonic reaction with no prior existing ingredients (because the big bang created everything)(but somehow in a pre existent plane under the pre set flow of time and pre set laws of physics) actually CREATED galaxies makes SOOOOOOOOOO much more sense than the theory that an ultra-natural being set the rules for natural phenomenon. How stupid of those fanatical creationists, right?
@BlackFox0911 I know right? I too, am tired of people only focusing on the negatives about Christianity. No, we're not perfect, but apparently, they forget that we are not the only religion to have done some sort of dastardly act like this. Let's see, 9/11 and other acts from the Taliban are supposedly done for religious reasons, and no, I'm not trying to bash on other religions here, but this attitude is getting older than time itself. :-P
Christianity is a barbaric religion from a savage time long ago, a religion founded by desert nomads. Christianity along with Islam and the other barbaric religions need to be wiped out from human existence and it will be eventually. The enlightenment is still going on and the age of science will in the end defeat the barbarians.
People love to bash modern Christians for ill-informed acts of technologically-immature cultures. Ergot spores, a fungus that grows on rye and the main ingredient of LSD, was inhaled by women making bread. People mistook acid trips for witchcraft. If the church had the scientific understanding that it does today, there wouldn't have been witch trials AT ALL. So please, bashers of Christianity, find something else to try and pin on us.
@pauleau the three girls behaved this way as a direct result of religious oppression. It was their way of dealing with ignorance religious mores and social strictures. Ignorance begets more ignorance.
@3investigators I think those girls just started accusing people because it gave them a sense of being recognized and feeling important. Other people were more than willing to take advantage of that and used it to get rid of others they liked to get rid of. It's all the result of the darker aspects of human nature. People like you that love to blame something as abstract as religion for all the trouble in the world forget that religion is nothing more than a reflection of human nature.
@pauleauI not blaming anything. I'm being honest. Girls & woman had very little power as dictated by religious leaders at the time and thus they most likely "acted out" in order to grab what little power they could - and it spun out of control. Even today many religions do not allow women the same degree of "power" as men. And yes - I feel abuse of power - as expressed through religion - displays the darker side of human nature. Consider the Spanish Inquisition as another example of that.
those poor women, i'm a male and i think its disgusting women are beautiful and should never be called things like witches just because their strong--willed or fiesty

@jesusrockschic09 what do you mean "many were innocent"? i think it is well known that they were ALL innocents women who were persecuted by ignorant people who were following the beliefs of religion at the time.
@longliverocknroll5 I was just saying that most were not witches, just deemed threatening. Innocent depends on the law. The puritans didn't put all parts of the bible in context.The capital punishment against witches went away along with the death penalty of idolatry and prostitution according to His law. Witchcraft is still against God's law but no retribution is required in the end because Christ paid the price. It all depends on whether they choose to accept and turn their lives around.
@Lunabeam1 Every faith does shit like this its just we can only call out the christians. No one says shit about what muslims did or jews did in the past.
Over the Power and wealth of the Ramon Empire we suffered being a witch. We did not live. So the reading is misused! The Bible is used for many purposes, but not to Be misunderstood. Fools! God, said he created the Heavens, and earth. Cope with the fact that Witchcraft is a way of life, in the eyes on many the wicked way of life, but who is to judge one thoughts, actions, and beliefs if he or she is still living? Thats what I believe!
ppl are still being burned for being witches.most witches wont tell u they are witches. i know a male witch who's house was burned down in attempt to kill him bc of who he was
@clockworkpics I'm by no means a religious person, but I have to disagree with you. When religion works its way into politics and the way we run our every day lives, yes it can have very negative outcomes. But religion itself isn't evil- the people who shape it to fit their own extreme views are the problem.
@clockworkpics I don't think that's completely true. It's not religion that's evil, it's the radical people of that religion who think they know everything about everything.
Can I just say, in England from the 16th century onwards 75% of the people accused of being a witch were acquitted. I don’t know about those other countries but I think this documentary might be exaggerating the numbers just a bit.
can you go deeper into that for me pleae? i hear alot of trash talking about christianity (or religion in general) being the fault of these presecutions
@altoon001 It's just plain stupid - that's what it is. I went to Salem too and saw witches on their way to work in the shops near the center of town. Ridiculous stuff. But I'm certain that some "Christians" would start burning people and hunting witches again if given half the chance. Satan is much more subtle to operate in such a ridiculous way. Read about the Nazis or the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia - there's your evil. It's in the hearts of men.
Too bad they could have formed a school "hint hint" :)

@clockworkpics Amen.

@clockworkpics I don't think that's completely true. It's not religion that's evil, it's the radical people of that religion who think they know everything about everything.

@orthodoxy14
And the big fanbase of religion makes that the nutters are called deeply religieus and not just nutters.

Can I just say, in England from the 16th century onwards 75% of the people accused of being a witch were acquitted. I don’t know about those other countries but I think this documentary might be exaggerating the numbers just a bit.

This is a prime example of why humanity is disgusting and ignorant to it's own faults. I'll pick a dog over a human any day.

@Cooper9205
It is spelt bestiality, without the extra "A"
And there is nothing wrong with bestiality as long as it is done consensually without harming the animal.

When i was in Salem Massachussets, i began to discover that witchcraft wasn't really the work of Satan aka the Devil. It was Pagan Pratices.
altoon001 11 months ago 31
@altoon001 yup but did you know that christianity was stolen off pagans?

@altoon001
can you go deeper into that for me pleae? i hear alot of trash talking about christianity (or religion in general) being the fault of these presecutions
TheFarmerboyproducti 4 months ago
@altoon001 It's just plain stupid - that's what it is. I went to Salem too and saw witches on their way to work in the shops near the center of town. Ridiculous stuff. But I'm certain that some "Christians" would start burning people and hunting witches again if given half the chance. Satan is much more subtle to operate in such a ridiculous way. Read about the Nazis or the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia - there's your evil. It's in the hearts of men.
djmoore20041 3 months ago
@altoon001 There were no practicing witches. Just unfortunate people who couldn't put bad luck down to just that.

@altoon001 paganism was considered to be "devil worship" because they didn't believe in the "correct" god
