  • This lady, Alecia Lutz-Rulow was right on target regarding American Airlines & parent company AMR they don't care about their customers much less their workforce and in the MANUFACTURED BANKRUPT CHARADE they are pushing forward in lat 2011 all designed to break down the LABOR CONTRACTS / UNIONS, NOT HONORED THE PENSIONS OF RETIREES and keep the bonuses for the CEO's and profit share to stock holders!

    AA SUCKS!

  • American airlines is the worst airline possible

  • You've "been a problem" for the airlines for 15 years? Then why are you working in that industry?

  • Lmao at American Airlines giving this woman an award for something she did THREE years ago. I'm totally on her side.

  • she's got some balls. you have to admire that. she didn't sell out like everyone else.

  • AA??? i rather walk, safer, faster, better service, cheaper.

  • AA's super 80 fleet has actually one of the best safety records in the world compared to other major airlines' workhorses, even after 15-20 years... I've flown both American and United out of O'Hare my whole life but I gotta be honest the service/experiences on those two flag carriers has gotten so pathetic the last few years, I'll drive an extra 30 minutes to fly Southwest out of Midway to be honest. SW has by far the best staff

  • AMERICAN's FATE IS SEALED!

As DELTA/NORTHWEST & CONTINENTAL/UNITED reorganized & consolidated American Airlines will be a victim of her own demise!

They sold TransCaribbean & TWA a merger and did hostile take overs that only weakened their infrastructure and moral, today USAir is financially stronger, the only player left, and awaits for AMR to spin AA into a separate company as they won't go down with her to scoop her!

Funny, after all their scavenging they will be debauch as they deserve!

  • @TWTR4EVER Hector, Still so Bitter after all these years? You were a Stewardess, it's not like you were you lost a Real job or a Career, Besides I thought you enjoyed Performing in Drag Shows & such?, Forget all this Misery & go out & buy yourself something Pretty, You'll feel better!

  • I Love AA BUT Things in the AA administration have to change, so all the employees could enjoy working there.

  • Alecia is one brave lady. Kudos to her.

She has the guts to say it like it is, in the midst of all the people who will discredit and insult her.

  • Please remember that American Airlines are the irresponsible assholes that allowed 9/11 to happen!!

  • AA/AMR aka American Airlines has no respect for their employees not their passengers!

Profit margins, share holders dividends, management bonuses are their only concerns!

I wish DL/CO & CO/UA a much deserved success on their new corporate unions, great airlines deserve great futures we at TWA knew and value the concept even when cursed by Carl Icahn, APFA, IAM, W.F.Compton, D,Carty and the US Trade that once again after Trans Caribbean Airlines (1960's) allowed AA to destroy another carrier!

  • All jobs suck.. get over it.

  • poor lady. Nothing sucks worse than being treated like a slave. How the hell did things get this bad?

  • I work in the airline industry and can tell you that its all about filling those seats and pushing the aircraft to the limit only stopping when the aircraft has serious malfunctions in which need to be grounded only to be replaced by another plane that is past over due for routine maintence.

  • silly old hag get over yourself and get a hair cut!

  • Furthermore, beginning flight attendants make $18 per hour and easily qualify for FOOD STAMPS. Hey, I realize no one is forcing them to take the job, but unless they are young and can live at home, it is very difficult to save money on that wage and live what most would consider an average life -- car payment, rent, decent food, etc.

So please don't throw around the $38/ hour bit. It's outrageously misleading!!!!

  • @anthonisaac: You need to read facts and not just make assumptions. A.A is the worst airline in service and its planes. This food stamp is only applicable to an American airline and NOT All Airlines. Furthermore, major airlines pay good money, with excellent benefits, free accomadations and extra spending money monthly. F.A's build on seniority. with 10+ easily earn 38/hr. The average 9-5 gets paid less than 13/hr with 45+hrs.

  • She's the hero.... not the JetBlue guy. As for the $38 hours an hour... GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!! Flight attendants make $38 per flight hour after 20 years, BUT ONLY WORK about 80 hours A MONTH, not 40 hrs. a week. DO THE MATH!!!! Also, flight attendants do NOT get paid this rate for any work they do on the ground, such as boarding, deplaning, going from gate to gate connecting, checking-in, etc. For that they get about $2 an hour.

  • @anthonisaac $2/hr for boarding! I wish! My airline doesn't even pay for boarding...

  • i thnk you are correct and is almost the same for pilots

  • @anthonisaac Actually, I am a 14 year flight attendant and I make 52.50 per hour and can work up to 50 housr a week if I wanted. However I choose to work about 120 hours a month.

  • A Classic "Flight Hag" Fix your hair and show a little pride in yourself!

  • No wonder flying is such a miserable experience.

The bitch of it is.... THAT PASSENGER PROBABLY DIDN'T NEED DEFRIBILATING !

  • They were fined $300,000 back in March for shoddy maintenance practices. 100 of their a/c were recently found to have cracks in the pylons of the wings, BIG ENOUGH TO LET THE ENGINES SNAP OFF DURING FLIGHT, all due to deferring maintenance over several years. Then they intimidate flight crews who are too afraid to work on their flying coffins. She's got balls, which is what most that work for that airline DON'T HAVE. WTF???

  • I know Alicia and she is a great women. She truly cares about the safety of her fellow employees and the passengers she is entrusted to protect as a flight attendant.

  • ''cuts up AA flyer card''

  • To tell you the truth I agree with the flight attendentjust becuase she is a safe person does not meen she needs to risk her life by going on dangerous aircrafts.

  • this girl is a moran

  • @APFlynn LOL

    idiot

  • who cares....really?

  • Other than Flights 331 & 587...any other recent major incidents for American Airlines that we should know about?

  • she better kiss good bye to the flying days. i think she will never be hire by another airline.

  • I get the FA's point. The thing is, she hardly makes a credible case for herself, given her disheveled appearance and her incoherent manner.

  • Wow 3 years?

  • Comment removed

  • It's clear to future passengers that AMR/AA aka American Airlines has priorities and is not their passengers! Tim Smith said it loud and clear on the statement released to MSNBC. The term"our customers lives" vs "our passengers lives" shows their priorities. The moment after you purchase an airline ticket you are no longer a customer, you have become a passenger! Lives are at risk in this transportation medium, To AA you are just profits to share holders! And the people involved expendable!

  • She is nothing but a disgrace to AA and the entire industry. Completely rude and unprofessional indeed.

  • she sounds like a complete idiot

cant even string a couple of sentences together without stuttering or not making sense

  • All you people who support AA are nutheads. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU FLY THAT BS AIRLINE? Do yourself a favor and watch the accident videos where AA has been involved. Don't forget 9/11. If I want to commit suicide I would fly AA.

  • Im and Executive Platinum member and actually fly AA 150,000 miles every year and have had nothing but great experiences. I can count on one hand the number of unhelpful and unfriendly flight attendants I've had. You clearly haven't flown recently. Can't blame AA for 9/11. United we stand.

  • Funny, leaving no choice but to board one of AA flights their so call professional manners which are nothing but a bully in disguise take charge! Their checkin is a cattle run, their baggage claim a joke, in MIA the scandals of drug traffic by their employees, the theft of baggage by their own employees, the poor customers service, should I go on! I fly twice a month MIA/SFO or MIA/LAX on business, I been using Delta/FLL via ATL, now we got Virgin America non stop to both from FLL! CHOICES!

  • I don't know in what capacity you work for AMR/AA because is obvious you're here to do what they do best , deceive! And if you're truly a patron, an Executive Platinum Member, which you're not, the "United We Stand" (industry 9/11 slogan) gave you up, you still a disgrace! I already posted plenty of the truth above so I will not repeat myself, but using 9/11 for personal gain is something AMR/AA has done before! I don't have enough characters but if you want facts, I got them!

  • You know who sounded like an idiot? AMR/AA Rep. Tim Smith when he gave it all up with his legal company written statement to MSNBC, and I quote! "Our Customers Lives" vs "Our Passengers Lives" shows the clear separation between a profit margin and the airlines prime duty of protecting human lives! The moment the business transaction of purchasing a ticket in any medium of transportation concludes we all become a passenger, lives are at stake, we are not a profit margin like in American Airlines!

  • I Love it, they using u and u spin it and use them. I support u 100% A.A. in the middle of an economic crisis and asking workers to take pay cuts award their management team huge bonuses, how do they sleep at nights, and then to ask me to go on an un safe airline. Stand up for ur rights , dont resign, let them fire u and then sue dem backside

  • thats awesome what she did. They give her an award 3 YEARS LATER?!?!? shes right damage control for sure.

  • I think its funny...If someone isn't happy in their job than quit. You pick your profession..If you don't like it regardless of what it is quit and find another job doing something else...

  • Sounds like she likes her job, just not who she works for. I'm a Flight Attendant and I LOVE my airline

  • I'm a flight attendant & I know how horribly mistreated we can be no matter what airline we work for. We are constantly being harrassed for trivial things & feel expendable no matter how loyal we have been to our employer. FYI, flying public, we are there to SAVE YOUR LIVES if the sh*t hits the fan!!! That deserves a shred of respect don't you think? Serving you crappy snacks & beverages is 2nd in priority. Listen to what we say. It is not about us being bossy & may save your life!

  • I'm a Flight Attendant too, and I couldn't agree more!! Well, I do enjoy my job and I'm sure you like yours too but some things we're called in for are SO TRIVIAL. I am lucky to work for a good company but it happens. If we don't have time to get someone a beer from time to time on a 40 minute flight some people write in. It gets re-damn-diculous...

  • A passenger has a heart attack, this FA saves the passengers life. Over three years later, another passenger dies in a manner calling into question AA actions. Bad publicity. A few day later, AA digs up old story of this FA saving a passengers life years ago, and decides to award her for her service publicly via the media. Why after 3 years? Why days after the airlines receives bad publicity? Why publicly with media present? Dig up old good media to counter act new bad media. Damage Control.

  • becareful people plz Im a flight attendant working for American Airlines and I know what she is talking about American is flying literally coffins!!!

  • she looks like she needs help

  • Is she gonna get fired or what?

  • Sorry, but if this FA has issues with AA safety, there are more professional and appropriate ways to voice her concerns. If she has any substantial evidence to back up her claims then it's her fudiciary responsibility to present that to the FAA. Something tells me this FA is every union's nightmare.

  • crjetpilot

"Sorry, but if this FA has issues with AA safety, there are more professional and appropriate ways to voice her concerns"

I concur. It is essential that safety issues be reported to the FAA immediately. Years ago, being a whistleblower could get you fired. Today, that will not happen without severe consequences for the airline. I have no issue with someone using a public stage to voice frustration BUT be a professional and report the violations so they're on record with the FAA!

  • Are you serious? The FAA has been in the pocket of corporate like all other government agencies when Republicans take charge, that's their strategy! She sounds nervous and confuse many people thrown in front of a camera in a studio react the same! Tim Smith gave it up on his corporate legal statement to MSNBC! He refers to "our customers" not "our passengers" clear intent to devalue life for profit! In the air lives are at risk, you're not a profit number, you/re to be cared for, AA never!

  • People don't understand, but the whole scheme is for corporate America to keep their business up and running no matter how bad they're doing in their business. Here in Hawaii, we just lost a local air carrier due to poor corporate management, leading to our state's largest unemployment. American is trying to do their job by keeping up good press, but Alecia here is just stating reality. Corporate care more about themselves rather than how the business is in actuality.

  • AA lost 10 aircrafts and 860 passengers lives in the last 30 years. Only China Airlines lost more: 11 aircrafts but only 766 pax. American airlines is therefore on rank 1 of the world´s worst airlines which haven´t banned from landing in Europe.

  • You also have to be realistic and look at how long they have been around. AA was the FIRST in the commercial industry. Being founded some 79 years ago (in 1930) they were pioneers. Aviation has changed, alot since those times. Just like the automobile it has become safer. It is bcuz of issues seen by AA that the overall industry is as safe as it is today.

  • Pan Am and TWA existed in the commercial industry aspect of the airline transportation before AA. American Airlines was by far not the first in the commercial industry.

  • @AsmodinaHorst ?766 is more than 860? can't understand.. anyway.. I'm not from Taiwan, I'm from mainland china, Air China is quite safe anyway...

  • @superkarl2008 you dont understand cause u didnt read d comment properly. "more" was referring to the number of aircrafts...

  • @AsmodinaHorst um, you do know American Airlines prior to the Delta/Northwest merger was the biggest airline in the world with the most flights... Did you account in those lost aircrafts terrorism? Did you do research as to what caused those "loss".

  • @ERAUPRCWA AA(American Airlines) who eliminated TWA & Trans-Caribbean employees with their HOSTILE TAKEOVERS disguised as MERGERS deserve the hell that's coming to them!

After the mergers of DL/NW (Delta & Nortwest) & UA/CO (United & Continental) American Airlines days are numbered, their mounting labor problems were Flight Attendants who after many pay cuts and concessions are seen their management giving bonuses to themselves + their aging fleet will be their own demise!

    HELL AWAITS!

  • look at her hair, look at her whole disposition...just looks like someone who hates her life

  • people usually hate their lives when they're treating like utter crap by their employers. isn't that weird?

  • It's not about how she looks...it's about what she is saying....she has been a Flight Attendant for over 25 years she is worth listening.

  • If she's so upset, why does she stay with AA? She says she's been "letting them have it" for the past 15 years. You know, you can always move to another airline. Of course, AA probably should have fired her a long time ago.

  • seniority is everything when you're in the airlines. if you've been with an airline for awhile and leave for another one, you start working there at the bottom of the seniority list. also, many airlines are clumped into one. for example, if you work for continental and you get fired, you're not gonna find a job at expressjet either.

  • The thing is that because she is probably about 40+ now so no airline will take her because she is becoming old and they take you off once you reach that age!!

  • For the people who would take her job ....you really don't understand....good for her speaking out. The Flight Attendants do many job's that they are not getting paid for. When you work in this industry...and a safty matter is over looked ....it could mean your death.

For those of you who just want a job...and travel....You Really Don't Understant what she is talking about. Good for her...stand strong babygirl....The FA's day will come.

  • Does she still have a job? wow.......

  • It was then discovered that this money saved went straight into a pension plan and bonuses for the board......if thats anything to go by then she may well be telling the truth! Oh and correct me if I am wrong but I am sure it was AA's senior management who fuelled there pension plans a few yrs back, apologies if I am wrong!!

  • if what she is saying is true...she needs a medal. If more FA's had a set of nuts the size of Texas like her, then perhaps some tragic accidents could be avoided.

AA has a massive duty of care to employees and passengers alike and should be taking safety VERY seriously.

Does anyone remember when they went into Chapter 11 and had convinced Pilots and FA's to take a huge reduction in pay to help keep the airline afloat........???

  • Ansett76

"Does anyone remember when they went into Chapter 11..."

No, because they never did. They were on the brink of Chapter 11, and that is why they negotiated concessions from labor groups to avoid Ch 11. Right after they got those concessions, the execs rewarded themselves with bonuses! Then CEO Donald J. Carty, resigned because of justifiable criticism over these.

  • if i was the AA management, i would not keep her in any case. look at her, a flight attendant on TV and does not even manage to get her hair out of her face. and that is the face of a company, representing the company in front of the customer..? what a joke.

  • er.. i get what you're saying. but why would she wanna "represent" a company that she doesn't even like in the first place?

  • Great... i got to go on American Airlines soon. The plane BETTER BE SAFE.

  • trust me american airlines is crap

  • She isn't quitting because she is getting paid most of her regular salary to sit around and do nothing.

  • just quit the damn job because its that bad

  • well I'll tell you something personal: if I could, I would take this girl's job right now, and just because it's AA. now how crazy is that? haha but I must say that I've been dreaming with UA ever since I got its 747 livery on my FS2004 installation some time ago!

  • oh, I forgot points d) and e): that a person saying these things does so because of mental problems until diagnosed otherwise, is a belief like any other, and yet it's a strange one (not my point thinking for anyone though); that her mustache is actually kinda funny. No, seriously, I think that you can't make up conclusions, which is 100% compatible with why a news channel would want to be anything other than (pervertedly) sensationalist.

  • Dont like to AA management or the work, QUIT!

  • She really looks like a crack addict and if she hates AA so much why the hell doesnt she quit!

  • If American Airlines is not a safe airline to fly, why than do the in-flight crews fly AA aircraft more than 1000 times a day? I don't buy the allegations. I think the allegations are rhetoric dispensed by Union zealots. For the Union zealots out there, if AA is such a horrible place, why do you still work there?

  • interesting. while skepticism doesn't fit my personal style anyway, it's worth to notice two little points: a) it doesn't make real sense to make a ceremony out of what she did, and b) she seems to be at least to a minimum degree acquainted with psychological stress. and I could add c) she seems sufficiently clever not to pull this craziness over herself (watch her rationale, in which she bases her free and presumably responsible attitude).

  • She is absolutely right! AA employee has the right off their opinion and we rely on them for our safety! AA manangement is full of shit!

  • This broad reminds me of a coked-up hooker (saw plenty of them while volunteering as a graduate student at an STD Clinic), not a professional AA Flight Attendant. I'm not certain which is worse, her appearance (have your psych med levels checked, sweetie) or her message; regardless, I highly doubt that anyone would consider her credible (other than some of her fellow Union-tainted Flight Attendants).

  • I Agree with Alecia

  • American Airlines are some of the world's biggest clowns, I understand the frustration of that flight attendant, I would love to work as a pilot or a flight attendant with Qantas or Jetstar and I will not let them treat me like that or other crew members amongst me, If they do so I will let them have it.

  • You got my support Alecia!

  • another opionated flight attendant. Seems to me that she did not have a good argument to suppoert her comments. She was being very vague in her agurment. Either way, bravo for saving that passenger. You made a difference in a families life.

  • God Bless you. show the big CEO(s)that we are not just a number

  • Isle Donkeys

  • go sister! you fa's are put thru the ringer!

  • I agree that people do die. Negligence will be proved in a court of law. The fact that she got the award three years after the fact is sketchy. Good for you Alisha for sticking up for that which no one else will do for you!!! As a flight attendant myself, I support you!!

  • People die. That is not the airline company's fault.

  • An award 3 years after the fact. hmmmmmmmm sounds like a certain airline is trying to cover their butts and establish paper trail acknowledging the efforts of their employees in case someone should scrutinize their business practices. I believe her. When people take a stand not everyone will support you. Many are too scared or dont want to try and find another job that will pay as much as they have began to make. I am a flight attendant for an airline.

  • Don't ever EVER think my job is to serve you alcohol and peanuts! I can evacuate 218pax in less than 90 seconds and I can bring you back to life in less than 4 minutes. Now would you like ice with that? =)

  • AMEN! go you!

  • does she have a mustache? Am I missing something here?

  • seriously what is with the minus thumbs? Look at 0.25 she has a mustache... and on a closer look.. appears to be well lubed (hangover or drunk)

  • Among some of AA's flight attendants: theives, sexual perverts, pedophiles, bi-polar freaks and race card players. AA feels they all deserve a second chance. These are the people serving you at 35000 feet in the air. Watch your children folks!!

  • A clue would be that her crew isn't saying anything their not backing up her statements. ating this with other crew members. The Captain is ultimately responsible.

Every maintenance item is then signed off by a mechanic who is also held responsible.

Now I didnt know her job function was also aircraft mechanic as well. Her crew walked off the aircarft not because of safety issues because they didnt want to fly with her. Im glad I never had to fly with her.

  • She probably made at least $38 an hour and she is an angry, angry woman whose fear, anxiety and unhappy life caught up with her. She should have changed jobs many years ago. Be a waitress on the ground and just keep your piehole shut.

  • By stating "probably" it means that you don't know for sure, and yet adventure an evaluation of a personal situation you have nary a hint off. You and many others may not be in accord of what is exposed here, but there are ways to voice those opinions... respectfully and with discrete facts to back those opinions, be them pro or con.

  • @cc6809 I have been informed by this dilusional woman that she is employeed at another airline and still believes she is right. Truth be known she is a little ball of hate because twa folded and was purchased by american. BTW my info comes right from her in a message on here.

  • @twastinks Listen mytwatstinks, get over yourself, as today AA/AMR Flight Attendants are ready to walk out! American will be on Chapter 11 within a year and it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch!

    DL/NW I patronize

    CO/UA I patronize

AA I wont fly them for free!

TWA is and will always be even in obscurity and memories the airline American will never be!

You can't buy class, you're born with it and American Airlines is the hick that can be dress up but never polished!

  • @siig101 Your ignorance shines throughout your stupid comment! Ms. Alecia Lutz-Rollow is just one more in the long line of employees disgusted by the intimidating tactics of AMR/AA. With us TWA personal who were put through hell and back stating with Carl Ichan we are not shutting up and will expose them for the "GARBAGE IN THE AIR" they truly are! AA/AMR starting with TransCaribbean Airlines in the 1960's down to TWA in the 1990's acquire and destroy airlines under false mergers!

  • @siig101 Is $38/hour a standard rate?

  • @siig101 Her salary is irrelevant and surely under paid! The one having things catching up with them is AA/AMR (American Airlines) who's predatory business model and profits over passengers security and service has finally caught up with them! DO NOT FLY AMERICAN AIRLINES, THEY ARE THE WORST!

  • Thats why i dont fly AA. First of all their so expensive. U wanna go from JFK to Orlando???$900.00 on way and on top of that they say they dont provide a good working area for workers and a safe flight for customers. AA can go to hell. I only fly jetBlue or Delta. No one else.

  • God bless you Alecia! I feel sorry for flight attendants these days. They have to put up with ill-mannard, hostile passengers and corrupt, greedy management.

  • join Delta Airlines.

  • Typical MSNBC - an exagerated, dramatized, mosty one-sided story. What quailifications does that flight attendant have to determine the airworthiness of an aircraft? If she is on leave, why wear the uniform?

  • Familiarity breeds contempt.

  • her hair looks crazy!

  • Agreed. At least LOOK professional.

  • What a mental case! Time for a subscription refill!

  • She seems somewhat incoherent but good for her for having the balls that many are afraid to have. Many f/a's look like this after working for AA for many years. They'll pay your rehabilitation if you're an alcoholic, drug addict, or sexual pervert. They put this brutha right back on the line after he was arrested for possession of child pornography. Is this who you want serving your kid at 35,000 feet? Whatever is above trickles downwards.

  • Good for her for exercising her right to freedom of speech!! I used to work at this sorry ass company and they manage their employees by intimidation. The irony about this is that they can fire you under Rule 32 for intimidating another employee, yet they consistently intimidate to scare. Can't wait when they go out of business.

  • at the way things are going... it will be sooner than you think... im a flight attendant with american, and i know first hand what she is saying, the maintenance at AA is HORRIBLE!! and now that 1300 mechanics are getting laid off, what do you think this does to safety.. it will be the ole' "duct tape it and go"

  • You know I have no idea about the flight attendants issues since I am not one but trust me if you thing the maintenance is horrible you need to check out the outsourced maintenance going to asia and other places. The only bad maintenance at aa I have seen comes out of kansas city! We have ended up redoing (correctly) what they screw up!

  • I agree, she grates on your ears a little. However, she brought up some interesting concerns about AA. Why would they try to award her for something 3 years later? She points out at the end that she feels that AA has been flying unsafe planes. Look at AA's safety history and you'll question their safety too. Look up AA flight 191 and 587.

I hate AA too, and never fly them! Them and their rotting fleet. Fly United Airlines.

  • She seems drunk or mentally unstable.

I am a pilot, the FAA holds every airline accountable for every mechanical issue to the same standard.

  • I have dealt with AA and I believe every word she says. There is nothing mentally unstable about her -- the routine maintenance was not done and it was reported in the newspapers in front of the whole world. I also read that Arpey and the other execs received big bonuses one month later. All those lives placed in jeopardy. Congratulations to this FA for her courage and strength. America salutes you for revealing the truth.

  • AA reeks...employees are rude and airline is terrible. Planes stink. I fly weekly and now try to stick to Frontier, Southwest, or Jet Blue.

AA employees try to deflect the criticism with the "just taking orders" defense...just like Nazis!

  • she got fired???????

  • I think she should get a promotion!!!! This woman had the courage to tell America and the world that there are problems behind the lines at AA that could costs lives. I think she should write a book.

  • You go Alecia, i am current AA Flight Attendant, and i know first hand about all the mechanical problems of our OUT DATED FLEET!!!, I had a situation where i refused to fly on the piece of crap SUPER-80, and i was harrassed, but for only a moment, because like you, i was not and WILL not be intimidated by management, so good for you, and TRUST ME THERE IS GOING TO BE SOME MORE MECHANICAL DISCREPENCIES EXPOSED, just stay posted.

  • She's a terrible speaker and makes herself look stupid. Her intentions may be good, but she makes all of us FAs look dumb.

  • When you look back in recent airline history of the deadliest accidents, time after time AA is taking the lead. From 191 in 1979 to 587 in 2001, there has been a history of mishaps at this company, that can be traced right back to their corporate culture.

I HATE American Airlines, I absolutely refuse to fly them.

  • I agree!! I'm glad you pointed the safety history out. When you look at AA, their crashes are especially catostrophic and horrendous and even creepy. I hate AA and I refuse to fly them too! F you AA

  • so true, i am a flight attendant with AA, and i WILL NOT fly on AA for any leisure travel, the only time i will be caught on one of those planes is when i am in the "LINE OF DUTY AS A FLIGHT ATTENDANT" i want something to happen, my family will NEVER have to work again... BIG LAWSUIT!!

  • Sorry to tell you there is a limit to the amount your family will get as a employee injured or killed while at work for A.A.

  • Awesome! take some pointers pussies!

  • why didnt she leave the company if she was so upset with them? just getting her 15 minutes of fame....

  • Good For you I am an ex f/a and I lnow how yo feel about your job and you safty the airlines has used us for years I love beging an flightattendent but not the cost of my life you have my support

  • I absolutely adore my job as a f/a and I go home happy everyday. It is MY JOB to keep our customers safe and I take that very seriously. I have never had to make a safety call until recently and I was SHOCKED at the lack of support from the company that earned its great reputation partially because of me. Brace yourselves, whistle blowers, theres about to be an airline of a different "color" in the media.

  • If this price-raising continues we may see the death of American Airlines and United will get the last laugh

  • I love United!! ruv em'

  • Approach727, be very selective on which lawyer takes your case. Get one on a "contingency" basis ONLY. They'll take your money. Then you might have a judge dismiss the case, because big companies pay lawyers lots of money to defend their corrupt ways.

  • Brave woman..

  • Does anyone know who her lawyer is? I am going through a very similar situation with another carrier and feel I might soon need legal representation to keep my job. This is a very poroular carrier without a union. I am currently suspended and stripped of all credentials for not wanting to fly an unsafe aircraft. I should get in touch with her somehow.

  • "We're American Airlines, Something Special in the Air"...

  • gdfgdfg

  • American Airlines is the best airline in the world!

  • You ARE joking right??? Can't really tell here. If not...NO they are not..I'm an American Airlines flight attendant. If you are joking...HAhaha...Good job. Love the sarcasm.

  • You think so?? well, im a current AA employee, and i REALLY beg to differ, you are on the outside looking in, i think you really need to do your research, and check AA safety track record, and i think you will re-think the statement about AA being the best airline

  • I am so glad this woman had the guts to speak out. AA has gotten away with too much. There is something shady that goes on behind the scenes. I hope one day someone uncovers the prostitution/sex rape ring at O'hare. One day we will all know what really happened on 911.

  • Thank God for people like her! This airline is a mess, I refuse to fly it any more, they charge too much for their flights while their equipment is outdated and potentially unsafe. I applaud her for standing up against the corrupt mess this company has become.

  • adding to xtalondriver. Only those of us who've been on the inside really know how twisted the mgmt at this company is. A f/a arrested in the Dominican Republic for child pornography gets fired THEN GETS HIS JOB BACK!! AA could care less about the families with children being subjected to this person. Another one who has been in physical fights with both passengers and crew never gets so much as a slap on the wrist WHY? because he crossed the picket line for them in 93. THEY'RE STILL EMPLOYED!!

  • I applaud this woman. Thank God for FAs like her who have the courage to come forward and tell the public that AA planes were and are not safe and that management does not care about her life or anyone else's life.

  • I agree with you 100% on that one we pay these people too fly us here there & everywhere & they really don't give a stuff about people's safety.

  • I'm proud of her. She's the utmost in professionalism in the airline industry. Management needs to hear it. They need to be lambasted for their planes flying unsafely. If a plane is less than 100% safe, IT SHOULD NEVER LEAVE THE GATE.

  • You want smiling flight attendants as well as a cheap fare and steak and lobster too, but you forget we're in the year 2008. As a former flight attendant it is very difficult to give what you don't receive. The public has less manners, is rude, kids talk back to their parents. No wonder they're looked upon as if they have a disease. They shocked at the effects of bad parenting. It's plain and simple. Your company treats you like shit. You're not going to smile for very long. It's HUMAN.

  • bxrican27, if she needs to be terminated for violating AA rules and policy, then Hotard should have been fired long ago for public comments disparaging AA employees. Why wasn't a Chief Pilot fired for hurling a water bottle at a pilot's union rep? Why wasn't a Chief Pilot fired for battery on a Union Rep in Chicago? Any line employee would have been fired in a NY minute. AA is wrought w/ double standards. You're obviously a member of the AMR bloated management corps.

  • I am a current AA employee and could not be prouder of this flight attendant. I am guilty of being mistreated because I don't speak out. Everyday at my station flights are delayed or canceled because of aircraft malfunction. We see what happens on the inside. But not all of us speak out. BRAVO!

  • I feel sympathy for flight attendants (hard job etc etc) but as a passenger I am fed up with being treated like crap by miserable FA's. If you hate the job so much, find another one. Don't take it out on the pax. We pay your wages. I feel like we (the passengers) are caught in the middle of a war between FA's and management. I want smiling, happy FA's who want to help. Nowadays they just look at you like you have a disease or something. I don't feel sorry for FA's anymore.

  • If a f/a is miserable it is probably more due to the passengers treating them like crap than the management! Maybe if passengers gave us more respect and didn't treat us like personal servents they would see happier smiling flight attendants!

  • Well said. People of all ages are frequently heard commenting on the decline in service these days, not just in the sky but everywhere. I've been a customer all my life and a service worker all my adult life and I hate the way people seem to feel entitled to treat service providers like crap "because it's their job to put up with me." PLEASE. We ALL spend money, and so many feel that spending money buys them the right to be rude or even worse!

  • If they were paid a decent wage and recieved the recognition they deserve, a crew member trained to save your life instead of an airborne waiter that the public perceives them as, I'm sure they would be a lot happier. Also, I doubt F/As ever look at passengers like they have a disease.

  • To you sir/madam, i am a current AA Flight Attendant, and i don't remember seeing the name simongbb7 on my payroll statement as YOU being the payor, and if you want smiley/happy flight attendants fly Southwest, there you will get all your kicks like on ROUTE 66
