I love the juxtaposition of the hopeless atmosphere of the video and the message the lyrics were obviously intended to carry. That, coupled with Mindy Smith's haunting vocals, make the song seem almost like sarcasm. I'm not a Christian (although I support all religions) and I don't tend to like country music, but this song is just amazing. It's thought-provoking, unlike most songs these days.
It's a clean, clear music... intense and sharp, filled with roots and smoke and the cry of birds on the wing. It moves me and gives me goosebumps. I have a friend whose father died a few years ago, when he was 18. They aren't particularly religious, but this song kind of spoke to it - the comfort of a parent from beyond, and the promise of reunion. Amazing.
A true great song is one that provokes emotion within the listeners soul. I cant imagine anyone not being moved by this song. If your not then you probably really need to "Come To Jesus" Its possible your heart may be hardened, Be Blessed
"I Jesse SAW JESUS Twise 1986 when in a dream vision the Lord Jesus revealed HimSelf to me and Called me to come to Him and I did. And also in 1987 when I saw taken to heaven and Saw Him Jesus Sitting On A Throne and in that vision i had On a white robe and a new body for flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom Of GOD. i also saw a great Tribulation going on the earth."
But it's nice down here, people are free, unsuppressed by extreme organized religion. Not satanists, just not Christian, and it's time more people learned that difference.
o.O I was talking about how people nowadays seem to be obsessed with sex. That is what having a mind in the gutter means. It has nothing to do with religion.
Perverted? I was merely making a pun, suggesting that someone is masturbating to a picture of Jesus. Let it go, believe me, I am one of the more mild folk on Youtube.
Same here - Country music has not been of interest to me, but with bands such as Mazzy Star - Cowboy Junkies - They tend to transcend the typical stereotypes of country music. But this hits me deep - makes me think - gives me hope of something good will happen.. Thank you for posting and reaching me...
I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. God Bless!
I dunno. What will she think? Looks like you know. Maybe you can enlighten us with what you know will happen to people "who find out." People who found out? People like you?
She has a great voice. I like her because she is a great artist. I could care less what she's labeled. I listen to Danzig, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, Black Label Society, Hank III, and all kind of stuff. Some people are above labels like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Merle Haggard, etc.
I'm not one who goes to church nor reads the bible but i have found when i'm in a dark place a simple prayer can bring my peace. I don't listen to Christan music but this song give me the chills... i really love this song
Awesome lyrics! Amazing voice! 5*z/fave! God bless...
† ~ "And the fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" John 1:16,17
listen really closely to the slide guitar in this song...brilliant... They should have used this song in Black Snake Moan, it would have fit perfectly
The first time I heard this song, I was in prison. I had forged some checks to support my addiction. I had never been there before and even though I am 6'7" tall and 280 pounds, I was scared. ...People really need to stop writing songs with titles such as "Come to Jesus". I think they will once they learn the other meaning of "Come".

If that's the case, my explanation is this.
I'm fourteen, I talk dirty :)

-_- That is the lamest excuse I have ever heard. Age has nothing to do with how perverted someone is.

she looks as if she was abused as a child
maybe the deeper meaning of the song is her abuser called himself jesus
so whe people said to her let me tell you about jesus
she would think of her abuser and his arms
there is a scene in hellraiser wher the man after returning from hell says to the girl
