I love the juxtaposition of the hopeless atmosphere of the video and the message the lyrics were obviously intended to carry. That, coupled with Mindy Smith's haunting vocals, make the song seem almost like sarcasm. I'm not a Christian (although I support all religions) and I don't tend to like country music, but this song is just amazing. It's thought-provoking, unlike most songs these days.

It's a clean, clear music... intense and sharp, filled with roots and smoke and the cry of birds on the wing. It moves me and gives me goosebumps. I have a friend whose father died a few years ago, when he was 18. They aren't particularly religious, but this song kind of spoke to it - the comfort of a parent from beyond, and the promise of reunion. Amazing.

Same here - Country music has not been of interest to me, but with bands such as Mazzy Star - Cowboy Junkies - They tend to transcend the typical stereotypes of country music.
