  • This an old video, so I won't comment on how I feel about keeping young riders on horses like this. Just wanted to find out how they both are now, seeing as it's been 2 years.

  • @catfreak8008 Tater is doing well with his new owner. She bought him as a trail horse for her husband. Tater quickly bucked the husband and the wife fell in love with him. They are living happily ever after doing all kinds of trails and camping. : ) Megan has a new horse, Dozer. You can see videos of him here too. (18hand Clydesdale PMU baby)

  • the only good thing about her riding that horse... is she's learning to RIDE... put her on other issue horses later in life and she'll be able to sit it when others cant. Plus, she'll get the gratification of a job well done when that horse and her do well... when you ride a robo-pony its expected to win. When you ride a REAL horse its amazing when you do well because you know you earned it. Keep at it girly, I went through the same thing and looking back I wouldn't have it any other way!

  • holy crap!! What a beast! That came out of no where, poor girl!

  • That was a pretty gnarly rear! I hope your girl was okay!

  • He almost seems like he's acting a little studdy

  • glad she was wearing a helmet.

  • way to stick it to him megan!!! :)

  • seems like hes testing her to me, everytime he bucks, he seems to get a break cause she slows down or stops afterwards

  • 0:26 . pause theree, awesome picture,

but were you ok?! it looked like that hurt!!

  • if megan would set still just alittle more on him/her he/she wouldnt buck or rear if you put a rider who doesnt sit still and they move their hands way to much then well yea the horse is gonna get rid of them i ride a appy stud and he is very tempermental i am only 13 and well i never have any problems with that horse but every one else does thats whats going on with megan and tator and anyother horse she rides

  • Megan rides again! See Dozer's video, surprisingly he, all 2200 lbs or so, also reared (just not as high!) : )

  • effing dangerous.

  • hahah this horse is barely moving throughout the whole thing and then BUCK. i guess he was saving his energy for it lol

  • Whoever owns this horse is an idiot to repeatedly put small children on a horse that is clearly out of hand...

  • ceaser millan is a dog whisperer not the horse whisperer. therefore you have no pont

  • Seriously, pay attention to your hands! bounce bounce bounce with your hands=bump bump bump on his poor little mouth.

  • wow whatta buck...could i use this in one of my vids?? you will be put on yhe credits

  • ur hands were bothering me like heck! KEEP THEM STILL FOR PETE SAKE!

  • dynadoobers--I love how you say your done with the conversation yet you come back 3 other times with something else to say...you must be a child.

  • wow tht looked like it hurt haha when they buck your supossed to lean back not forward

  • can i use this in my video?

  • okay get off is mouth and i would kick him thats what the barn that i go to taught me to kick him and i dont use crops like some morons do but i would whack him on the rump with the rein and kick him or slap him or somethin

  • I would have to watch the video again to see if she was up in his mouth a lot. However most horses that buck and act up is a sign of lack of respect for the rider. To get the respect make is feet move forwards, backwards, left and right. Do some lunging for respect too and your problems should go away.

  • he he he

  • Seeing how this little girl was being really rough on his mouth i would have guessed that Tater wouldve thrown a fit sooner or later. This little girl obviously needs an older horse thats more broke nd can handle little kids' tugging. Like my 13 yr old mare for instance, you could pull on her mouth nd put a crazy little kid on her nd she wouldnt give a hoot.

  • That was really naughty of him! though reading about his blindness - I would have retired him. I don't think you can trust a blind prey animal with your child's life...but that's just my professional opinion.

  • get the brat off the horses mouth and maybe he wouldn't be so pissy

  • Seeing as I watched two videos with the horse bucking with this girl on him, I'm beginning to wonder how much riding experience the girl has.

From he position etc She seems like a beginner rider maybe she should be riding a safer less spontaneous horse

I also agree with the person who said that the horse has to be shown whats right & wrong, otherwise someone is going to get seriously hurt. You cant just say no and thats that. you have to be stern with the horse. They're smarter than you think.

  • Tater and Megan competed in the Invitational this month and did wonderfully! They cantered each event and there was no thought of bucking at all! He is blind in 1 eye and has a cataract starting in the other, he is well trained and learning to trust Megan.... And Megan is learning to trust Tater.

  • good job! You held on pretty well! Thank goodness you ave a helmet

  • learn how 2 teach ur horse not 2 do that. beat the snot out of him. cuz other wise ur allowing him 2 do that

  • No! That would just make it worse! Never punish a horse by beating it. There are other ways to stop a bad behavior.

  • if you don't teach your horse from wrong and right he will keep doing what it wants to do. you have 2 show him whats right. you don't have 2 agree with me thats only my opinion. --- apeieceoftheaction

  • Well of course you have to show them what is the right way to do things, but you dont need to beat them.

  • i don't mean like beat them but teach them what 2 do. i definitlly don't beat my horse. i love my horse he is my life.

  • no no no! you dont beat him. you just simply hang on for the ride nd when hes done give him a slap on the butt with the end of the reins to tell him its NOT okay. itll take time. but it least hes not being treated badly. He will learn not to do it without being scared outta his wits.

  • i dont beat my horse, you have 2 show him whats right abd whats wrong. this little girl had no conrtoll over this horse.

  • i didnt say you beat your horse. i was just saying that you shouldnt beat a horse because you said, "beat the snot out of him" nd i dont think they should. theres no reason to. its called patience. work it out of the horse.

  • im siding with apeiceoftheaction! in some cases beating the snot out of them once teaches them the first time. Rather then taking a month to teach them something that could be tought in a matter of seconds.

  • its not the matter of time they are taught. its the fact that they are treated properly and with respect and they learn to respect you as well. no one wants a horse living and obeying in fear.

  • yeah but there is punishment other than beating the ever-loving shit out of a horse. I respect my parents but i didnt always do what they say. I got in trouble its the same with this horse. My horse knows not to buck when im riding or he gets a smack on the rump. I treat him with respect otherwise but im not letting a 1000 pound animal get the upper hand. He still runs up to me and nickers and doesn't hate me so its ok to discipline animals. Listen to Ceaser Milan. You have to be the leader.

  • Well I know that. But they were saying that you should really hurt them. No. You don't displine to hurt them. You do it because it helps them understand who's boss. Like you said. I never said don't ever give a little smack to your horse when hes bad. I just said that you don't have to go to extremes and really hurt them. I think a nice smack would prove a point just fine rather than a severe hit.

  • also being soubtle with your "teachings" can also teach your horse he can get away with things only getting minor consiquences.

  • kind of. but you dont have to beat them. other things work too.

  • yes i know that! if my horse is been mischeiviious all i have to go is say hey or go shhhhh! and she knows to stop

  • see thats what im talking about. they dont need to be treated meanly. you will get a bigger reward when they are taught with respect.

  • true but in cases like this i think a larger consiquence is needed

  • no. not really. it looks like the horse had a little outburst because he was getting annoyed at the little kid tugging at his mouth so much. no huge punishment is needed.

  • bucking shouldnt be tolerated at all. not even if he get excited. look this is getting stupid im dont takling to you. bye :P

  • well it shouldnt be resolved at all like that either!

  • you seem like the kind of person who likes to argue.

    this conversation is over

    get over it :)

  • you are the one that keeps writing back.

  • true. but sometimes they need harsher punishments

  • You can get hurt like that! I'm a Horse Trainer and I should know! You dont put yourself in danger on a untrained Horse! ( NEVER) Well lest you didn't hit the Horse! And that horse is a Appoloosa so ther very High strong cause I know that for a fact, But besides all that you did great!

  • yeah, get someone to whip his ass who knws how whenever he does that, and then get the girl to learn to use her crop. make her turn him in a circle slapping his butt if he tries that again. she's going to get seriously HURT

  • someone needs the crap ridden out of them, with an experienced rider, who will ride the buck out of them.

  • Someone needs to nip that bad habit in the bud before that poor girl gets seriously injured. The problem is curable and it's not worth the girl getting hurt..... stay safe!!

  • @AeronRiding looks like it got her in the head. ouch

  • Owchh, that really must of hurt =/

  • ow...

    tater. ahaha.

    love tht name

    :)

  • that horse needs to be spanked

  • lol i love it when horses buck!

  • That Tater is something else!

    Good job girl.

  • wow did she fall off or not she was really good!

  • Oh that stinks. That one looked like it probably hurt. Hate it when that happens.

  • OUCH! her face like smashed into the horse...ow

  • aww he was freaked about sometihng. I hope she was ok, i wish u guys luck, beautiful horse btw :)

  • hahaha my name is tate and all my friends call me tater

  • y did she stop filming? lol god love that horse

  • Yeehaaaww! Tater completed an entire gymkhana without bucking this weekend!!!

  • Appy's are like that. they are the bucking type.... just to let you no

  • Thank you - I'm glad he's not the only one. He is doing better and she is being harder on him when he chooses to buck while being lunged.

  • No not just appy's my doughter has a buckskin and he bucks!! This horse dose not play by the rules he rears up, first gets he head then bucks that not nice at all. may be try a tie down on him.

  • you know you shouldn't talk like that about any kind if horse even if you think things like that about them..some people LOVE appaloosas...and for your opinion i know ALOT of appaloosas that are very gentle and would not hurt anybody!!!!

  • thats like saying golden retrievers are better than pitbulls its close to racist. Sure the appy I ride bucks but that doesn't mena ALL of them do it's the indivisual horse. Appy is just a color that you can put into catercories

  • actually appaloosa is a breed. just like a paint or a pinto.

  • @ReiningOverYou Um..."Pinto" isn't a breed. Pinto is coloring, Paint is a breed.

  • i've heard that before. appy's will either love you to death and do anything for you, or they hate you and will do anything to get you off. my friend had two. full brother and sister, and year apart. one she still has today and will do anything for her. the other hated her, so she sold her fully trained, and that mare is now being used for showing. ans she does anything for her owner. so i find appy's can be tempermenatal... then again, what horse isn't. :P

  • @RusticChaser honestly i don't think its the breed i think its the amount of work done with them on their level you know how everyone has a different level of learning horses are like that too sorta i have3'Appys'and only one of them bucks or bolts have video of me trying to work with her on her 'scary arena' problems and she bolts but she was trained by someone else(she was my first horse ever so i was too young)but the other2 who i've trained haven't bucked or bolted as of yet. They r 2 yrs ea.

  • @RusticChaser Uh...no. ALL horses are "the bucking type". Any horse can have a bucking problem. I've never known an Appy to have a bucking problem simply BECAUSE he's an Appy. I've met many more Welsh Ponies and Quarter Horses that have bucking problems.

  • thats a big buck for a little girl

  • Yes, she was fine, her helmet took the hit from his neck and she slid off rather than really falling off. She checked his bridle/bit, whispered something to him and got right back on and finished the course and the day. She and her trainer will now be working on his pissy attitude. He is fine everywhere except the gymkhana arena.

  • Wow that girl was all over the place .. was she ok?
