@traxxasslash26 I had the same exact opinion as you. The more I watched YouTube vids of XR10's & Bergs the more I got interested. I have been a racing & bashing fan for years and thought crawling was too slow & boring. Now that I've been crawling with my Axial XR10 I have a new perspective & I've learned it takes a different skill to get to point A-B.
does anyone know where i could find complete aluminum axles for a 1/8th scale crawler please let me know my skype name is babyboo754 id appreciate the help
before i started crawling, i thought it was a waste of money.. But i said why not try it before "i judge a book by its cover". I bought my first kit, Losi MRC. And wow. i couldnt believe how fun crawling was. it seems boring and all, but crawling just gives you that challenge of "How to get from point A to point B" without loosing points or without flipping the truck.. where as buggys race just "how to get from start to finish with the fastest times"
What I get form the movie is that a Full Droop setting on the shocks is impossible with this chassis as the rig will become a belly dragger. Anyone with this chassis found a way to properly Full Drop the rig with some success?
@N3tTurbino i set mine up to hve about 75 percent sag i just used the internal springs and cut them in half that way i am not full sag but close and yes i drag my skid plat across everything
I have more fun with a rock crawler than any rc. Its not weather related, its battery time related. Its never needed repairs and the one on this vid looks 10x better, this vid sold me on hBZ warthog next upgrade!
@brandon429 haha i agree with the crawling, i have tried just about every rc thing there is. Helecopters, planes, racing. i dont find anything as fun as crawling yet.
you want a real rush build a scale crawler. when you do it with trucks like the ax10 and the warthog in this video its not that impressive...trucks like the one in this vid would do anything...it get boring after a while
Uhh thats the difference in having a comp rig and a scale rig you cant have your cake and eat it too, either you want a scale rig or a comp rig cant have one that does both, i have both and yes building scale rigs is a challenge but so are these, figuring out what links work and dont motors esc's shock placement link placement, please dont make it sound that easy cuz it can be but isnt always
To lummox, I had the same opinion when I first saw them, but after busting up my t-maxx and mayhem numerous times, it is nice to accomplish obstacles you would think impossible without breaking anything. I also agree the savage is a nice vehicle but it will not climb ANYTHING comparable to what these machines will do. And if you would rather watch grass grow, I am sure there is a video on here....
@vandenking Well said man im into so many different rcs and just like you I have had the exspensive machines and I also had helis and bikes and they break quite easily and when you bu yourself a rock crawler one its epic fun going over obstabcles that you could dream of going over in a truck but once your in a crawler you can and it turns quite fun and you push the crawlers to the limits and they have so many tumbles and falls but they jsut keep working! well said mate 5* video aswell
answer me this. why does rock crawling rc exist?? i would rather watch grass grow than own one of them. yeah they can creep up stuff at 2mph but i would just hit it in my savage xl at 40mph and get 10ft of air off it. not for me sorry. and it seems all the major brands are supporting them too. i can't get my head around it.
lummox1212 , the obstacles that a well built crawler can crawl up are sometimes just plain unreal. especially when the pro guys run them. IMHO, the sport of crawling lays in the aspect of building them and watching YOUR "creation" run over everything, not in RTR's. now dont get me wrong, the savage xl is a mean truck. a buddy of mine has one and its pissed. however, take the log pile at 1:14 in this video, if you hit that pile @ 40 mph, you will have no savage left . "to each his own" :-)
c if your "savage can launch a curb at 40mph becaus a rock crawler would get up no prob. i agreed with you at first but i started toying around with my slash on rocks and it takes alot of trigger control
i have one because its more simple to replace and upgrade the parts on these instead of a nitro car, considering im 14. you also can go through much more deep pools of water and like vandenking and rik72779 said, they can crawl over things that are just crazy and that nothing else r/c can do.
however, becuase of it being low , it has a lower center of gravity meaning it is less liable to roll or topple over, when going up steep walls or obstacles
god i hate the warthog, it looks so awesome but they sure screwed it over by making it so small. they could have made it a bit bigger for us scale enthusiasts.
I have my batterys mounted on my front axles it helps with wieght on the front axle for better grip. Also i have around $1.000 in mine and maybe a little more..I used to have like 18 rc cars and trucks nitro 1/8 scale buggys gas boats all that was getting out of hand now its rock crawling .I thought it had to be fast to have fun now slow is fun and i dont break as much stuff as i did before..
exactly my new take on things i really didn't like rock crawling at first but my dad was a welder for 37 years and he taught me to weld my own tube chassis now my back yard went from nitro to a rock crawling zone i still have all my nitro cars/trucks just don't use them anymore i may spend a lot of money still but its not on replacement parts so much and its a lot of fun i am going to have to post some movies showing my tuber chassis and crawling zone
basicly it is just a chalange to make the right angles and push the limit of your crawler. yes i think it is very fun and you should look into it! my favorite part is doing mods and really seeing what you have done to make it better.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I try to stick with brushed as brushless/lipo combos go astronomically high in price no matter which way you look at it. At least for me it is. Of course that's until the E-Revo 1/16 comes out! Can't wait!
all who disliked this......u see the size of the dislike bar? u see the size of your dick? no difference.

I can't believe that there can be people complainting about the existance of rock crawling. No one is forcing it upon you.
If you don't like just stay away from it for chrissake!

That rock crawler doesnt have as high of a clearance as most rc crawlers I have seen. Easyer to get stuck.
