well obv ur not that good than are you... you always pull the 3rd valve slide out for D's and low C sharps because there flat notes on the trumpet... watch any famous person play and ull see it basic middle school trumpet playing lol

@59ek Actually, on the notes that you use the third valve on like D, D flat and E flat, you are actually supposed to move that slide because trumpets are made a little flat, so when playing those notes you have to make your trumpet bigger so that you are in tune.

@59ek Dude..... no. Go major in music before you say anything. Basic middle school trumpet principles, push out third valve slide on D and C#. Push out first valve slide on A.

Makes you sound consistent with your tone, if anything.

@59ek Dude... I'm a Clarinet player and even I know that on trumpet you have to kick out when you play the D/Db(C#). It's also for intonation problems. You can try it for yourself though. Play your D in front of a tuner and most likely you will be sharp. kick out and you'll find yourself closer to be in tune. Also, you are going to have find out how much length you do kick out for each of those notes.

@SasunaruEmo When you hold down third valve for anything other than a D ur sposed to push it out some. It helps to tune the note. Expecially if you're played a C Sharp because they are madly out of tune and way sharp so you pull that out so it plays it in tune basically :D

@oRazexIllusions On a trumpet the valve system is not perfect, so any time you press the 1st and 3rd valves you kick out the 3rd vale slide to get it in tune. The reason for this is: as the air is traveling through the trumpet when it hits the valve it creates resistance that will make you go sharp, so you pull out the slide to compensate.
