I read an article that said a lot of pet food manufacturers even sign contracts with veterinary hospitals and pounds to get the deceased pets and put them into the pet food! Our pets are eating their own cousins! And what's more, the manufacturers say it's "too expensive" to even remove collars from the bodies before processing the meat...
I use to work for a pet food store, they asked me what I feed my dog, when I told them I make my own food. I was instructed to lie to customers should they ever ask me the same question. This is a store that doesn't even sell grocery store crap food but veterinary recommended foods.
After a long, careful consideration and being skeptical for a very long time...I decided to switch my dog to raw feeding 6 weeks ago, and I will never EVER go back to that garbage store-bought dry kibble food. I am so happy that I am one of those dog owners who's made a choice to feed my dog raw food...
I agree with what you're saying regarding a raw diet for pets. It's healthy to do so. It's good you put an educational video out about it, but this video is a little boring. I think the narrator is talking waaayyyy too slow and that is probably why. Maybe talk a little bit more in normal speed and add some music.
Raw food diets are expensive. I'm 23 and paying off student loans + rent + vehicle expenses. It's just not an option for me, no matter how bad I want to get my dog on the raw food diet. Too expensive.
You're simply wrong. Why aren't there any seeing eye cats or search and rescue cats or drug sniffing cats? I know, because dogs are far superior in intellect and ability.
Not true. Hard, crunchy foods are carbohydrates which turn to sugar. Sugar harms the teeth. You wouldn't eat crackers or cookies to keep your teeth clean. 4 years ago I put my 4 pugs and 3 cats on raw food. I became concerned becaused the dogs seemed to lose weight. It turned out that their weight did not change; their body shapes changed. Fat turned to muscle, coats became glossy, and stools became smaller. I'll never open a bag or a can again.
The dog when it all comes down to it's natural biological form is a wolf both inside and out, it has the digestive system of the wolf and can digest all raw animal parts, bones kin hair feathers etc. It's gastric juices kills bacteria and it's immunine system can repel any types of bacteria known to man.
If you cared about pets you would offer the information free . . . As I feed my pets RAW food I am sure thatt your $3 book does not give any information that I would gladly give for free . . . for the love of animals. It is ok to sell a book, just not this way.
Dog food consists of mostly water, grains and heavily processed waste meat. It's the equivalent of feeding your kids fries and pizza everyday. Not healthy at all.
That is your opinion, and it is largely inaccurate. Most pet foods are nutritionally balanced. If they weren't, then many companies offering sub-par food would cease to be, as competitors would offer nutritionally balanced food.
Nutritionally balanced my ass. Wolfs and dogs have thrived for thousands of years on raw meat. By your standards they couldn't have survived without kibble.
Dogs are prey-eaters from head to tail. Read the ingredients of dog food. If it says 'meat by-products' it essentially means 'garbage'. E.g. hoofs, brains, cancerous meat, and anything else that's not human-grade. Cancer isn't something you want to feed to your dog, is it?
Ultimately, it is best for all pets to eat hard, crunchy food. A kitten or puppy may need a combination of canned food and dry food for a month or more as their digestive system matures but do not mix milk in with your pet's food, and do not soak any dry food in water. These are common mistakes that can really upset your pet's digestion. Again, ultimately, it is best for all pets to eat hard, crunchy food.
hey you seeem like you know what your talking about. I wanted to know if i should feed my pup raw food at an early age, and what raw foods can harm him. Cant dogs get brain worms from some types of raw meat, also cant they break there teeth trying to bite the bones. please reply back.
Yes, you should feed your pup raw food. It's healthy for him/her.
Dogs won't get worms from eating raw meat. Their strong gastric acid kills all the germs. You have to be aware that gastric acid of dogs is much stronger than human's and because of that will kill lots more germs, such as salmonella.
You have to be careful what kind of bones you feed your dog. Never give bones that carried weight, such as legs. They are too hard and will break your dog's teeth. I feed my dog chickenwings.
Also, NEVER EVER give your dog raw pig meat. There's a small chance that the meat contains Aujeszky decease, which is harmless to humans but will instantly kill your dog.
My cat died because of barfing. She got salmonella and giradia from that raw shit. Never ever again. Fuck this barfing industry, they are much worser any pet food industry can ever be, because there is no recall in case something is wrong and no one takes responsibility.
I'm sorry about the loss of your pet. Generally speaking i still think that raw food is more appropriate for dogs (and i assume cats, though i don't have experience with cats) than kibble, though. A dog is a prey-eater and not a kibble eater. Besides that the largest part of kibble consists of grains, and dogs can't digest grains.
Likely your cat was so used to kibble that it responded badly to raw food. It has to do with having less strong stomach acid which is essential to kill bacteria.

This is th dummist thing i have seen first of all don't ever call meat Raw and nother thing is that i rather give my dog or cat Raw vegan food then stupid meat!!!!! if am going Raw and vegan so are my pets i will not have another disgusting cn of spam in my home.
I am ALSO vegetarian, yet I do not go around crying to the world they must convert or die, especially pets and especially my cat who is a NATURAL obligate carnivore.
Natural is the world to pay close attention to, hollystar.
Then you shouldn't own a carnivore if you aren't prepared to care for one properly and feed it a healthy diet. Feeding a dog or cat a vegan diet i.e. absolutely no meat is simply cruel.
xanaadu is lying about David Wolfe, david wolfe has no dog and feeds dogs raw meat. Though david wolfe feeds dogs some grasses as lions eat 2/3 mineralized grasses from grass fileds.
Iagree that dogs are carnivores but we must not forget that in fact wild dogs and wolves will eat grasses and fruit at times. So adding some vegetables is a good thing for our pets, but... to turn them in to vegetarians is as you say unreasonable and an absolute stupidity!

Lol. Some people like dogs, some people like cats more, it doesn't make either "better".
Anyway, this is about feeding your pet healthy food, whether you have a cat or a dog. Both animals do best on real food!

Dogs are carnivore and not herbivore! It's the same as feeding meat to cows, it's unreasonable and it's NOT healthy in the long run
