haha i had the violin solo on alto sax, and other kid played the higher part on soprano sax. haha, great show. we played this show in 06-07 and won PIMBA state championships with a 25 member band.
Yeah, I wasn't done. As for tuning...we're outside. If you really play an instrument you would know that it's difficult to maintain an acurate tuning when you're outside in the CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATING ELEMENTS. As for the tempo, I thought that the whole idea behind music is CREATIVE INTERPRETATION! Rushing? We were on a time limit trying to perform an 11 some minute show! Duh!
I absolutely love the DMB! Drumline is chicka chicka HOTT!
I hate to be rude, but it sounds like not everyone realized you were on a time limit, because in Ninkou Latora (during the repeated eighth note lines at the beginning,) the trumpets are clearly rushing. Don't use a time limit as an excuse... perform only a part of the show.
Marching band is about performance, so always go out to give the audience a show worth remembering because of quality, not length.
Not to say that it's a horrible performance. Just saying. Check out Sweetwater play it. :P
Okay, all of these negative comments are really making me mad. First of all, we never tell someone they can't be in our marching band, so of course, not everyone is going to be perfect but I think we do pretty ok. Second, of course the drumline is going to sound over-powering in this video- there is a multi-million dollar metal stadium in front of us amplifying every little vibration coming from those drum heads and sending the sound EVERYWHERE! Thirdly, this is only our second performance! Deal
I play 2nd basedrum on drumline so of course that's the majority of what I was listening for.
Ummm, baseline definitely stood out too much (and also were missing important fragments of the pieces) but the band's sound was definitely good. I liked the pit alot. ^^ And the drum majors did a nice job too except for a little rushing in Ninkou Latora. Overall nice work!
Your sound is great. Our street parade marching band did this two years ago. Wish you have had a close up on who did the violin part. My son did that part on the street.
Great sound - awesome band. Good for you kids!! Bet your parents are sooo proud.
Well on Ninkou Latora you guys rush. And percussion is over-powering most of the time. My band is performing this show this year and I'm the drum major. I conduct Ninkou and Incantations. I play bells on Atmadja and miramba on Quidam and the flute solo on Quidam. You guys conduct really well and your bell players are good.
tuning:not the greatest, musicality: ok, sets: active but not everyone was on step, u need incantation in there, over all i give it a 3, check out the maize hs marching band, i would say low 1 or high 2 to them,
im playing these songs with my highschool and i get to do the solo on the song quidam cuz im the only guy who has a soprano sax and im only in middle school lol the highschool saw how good i play the sax and asked if i wanted to join them
Oh boy, I will miss marching band. But, I have Michigan State Marching Band to look forward to. Oh yeah, that Soprano Sax solo was amazing. It nearly made me weep. Haha
you suck because your marching technique is really bad. sound quality sucks and its not just because of the bad quality of the video. you don't sustain the notes to its full length. very choppy and the drumline is not together.
Because, you know, our second performance is definitely supposed to be the best. You can't base our technique off of a video with poor quality on youtube. However, if you were to watch us perform live and critique us, that would be a differnet story. :) As said above, we were cheered more than our football team. I'm sure the crowd's reason for this isn't because we're bad.
We love our band, we love our band, we love our band band band band band. They'll think we're crazy, but we don't care. Because we love love love love LOOOOVE our BANNNNNNDDDDD!

I play 1st piccolo on it and it's really pretty. and I think the people that feel like being negative need to calm down.
How many do you march?
LidsAreSexy 3 years ago
Not positive on how many were in that show, this was two years ago.

and finally a band that isn't too lazy to bring the timpanis out onto the field...however EXTREMELY HEAVY they are, regardless of the wheels
something interesting= Ninkou Latora is actually from the Cirque du Soleil show "Dralion", not "Quidam"
9t9redballoons 4 years ago
actually it is called Quidam.
Our marching band is doing it
it is quidam according to the director

Ninkou Latora IS from a different show

9t9redballoons 4 years ago
inlovewithyou, u played the bells, marimba, AND the flute??
i just play the timpanis. they make the whole thing awesome. ^.^
did u guys just stop at quidam or did u do Incantation too?
our band's working on this too
hopefully it won't be this noisy at our football games

By the way, Incantation wasn't even played.

Yeah, this was one of the beginning performances, and we had not learned Incantation yet. We did play it within the next week or two.
Kishy180 4 years ago
Needs work, but nice 30 second runs in the flute sections. A little shaky on the tempo and percussion seems to drift in and out of tempo.
