I do not believe in being "recovered". I believe in being in recovery. People can be in recovery for years, and then relapse. For me, recovery is something you have to manage and learn the right tools for when you feel triggered to let out what you are feeling in a healthy way instead of using the eating disorder.
Thank you for posting these videos. Ive been struggling with an E.D for 9 years now. I've been very alone. Its nice to here someone elses story a while out a lecture or threat.
You are so sweet to make all these videos to help all these people out here!!! So glad to see that you're recovered!! I myself am also a recovered anorexic and find your videos to be very inspirational. :)
I think im going to do something really scary. I have a new video camera on my ipod now, and i think im finally going to tell my story on video blog and let the world see pictures and video of my severely malnourished form and hear about what i have been doing to mentally and physically recover. Also to help girls understand that sometimes anorexia has nothing to do with being afraid of being fat and everything to do with control and coping mechanisms.
Hi kat, long time since ive commented, you were someone who caused me to fight for my life, and i still am. Even though i am consciously aware of my problem and am doing my best to eat, and am not so scared of being fat, now i face the challenge of mentally disabled society telling me i dont have an eating disorder even though i am 5'9 and 100 pounds and its starting to get really scary.
My name is Hassen..I'm a recovered male anorexic... I've been 95% recovered since my Junior year in high school, "06"-"07."
Listening to your blog is in inspiration to me. So happy you have gotten over this sick disease. It's extremely hard at first... I know from personal experience! Check out my video.. I'm going to make one more....
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness and an eating disorder is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.
Yes some girls want to have an E.D, it's hard and I'm sure you know, to just stop thinking about it every time you eat when you want to do it but you know it's wrong in your mind, i don't have an ED and never have but i still get get what your saying
