There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.

@darkcowboyhero Im going to pick it up today, funny thing is, most of the people on here would dismiss this book because it is writen by a Jewish man. I am so glad my parents raised me to see beyond race and to not be a victim. I have to laugh when people tell me Im not black due to my success, hell, my parents worked themself to the bone everyday providing for us. They both swore that they would never take a thing from the Government and that their children wouldnt either. They are very proud.

Well we can’t just stop with our slavery in America, after all, America is only responsible for 6% of the slave trade. And if we go back to when we were the royalty of Egypt, then we enslaved the Jews for about 400 years, so we would have to take our reparations we get from America for its 89 years of slavery (1776 to 1865) and hand them to the Jews but add to it to cover all 400 years.

But I do believe there is something wrong with anyone who believes past atrocities such as slavery has NO long lasting effects on those people in current times. Just the self esteem of a people alone will take generations to fix. What about things like inward hatred of ones self, family and friends. I am educated and middle class and I know better than to think that way.

@E3R510 If your parents said that to you then they are themselves unable to really think deeply and care to deny instead of embrace our past. I was raised in houses that had both my great grand parents in it. They told us about slavery and their children told us what happened right after slavery ended (jim crow). Any people who cannot discuss, understand and learn from their history is doomed to repeat it. Again, I say to you denial of ones past is detrimental to their future.

They would have been 112 years old IF they were born the same year slavery was abolished.. According to public records SMITH, Charlie age 137 brought to US from Liberia, Africa. Sold at a slave auction, July 4,1854. Died in1979. But you claim that you were raised with BOTH your great grandparents, your statement is false.

Line 5. “years do to our gov”. should read. “years due to our gov”. Same line, again I am a man.
