The Aurora kit seems much simpler then installing cold cathodes or leds, but seems just as bright. The only worry i have is that you are splitting the juice that the fan gets...

Never overload, you may think that LED's draw close to no power and the Fan draws close to no power either, thats a misconception, you can literally draw too much from the dvd drive that the dvd drive wont even power up, best thing to do is wire the LED's to the actual board if possible.
