going back thru all of these is a lot of fun. I've been doing epic builds for a while, so it will be fun to do something small and try to fit a lot of detail in it.
Another good use of the fireplace is to hide your furnace behind the fire in your fireplace. Then, since you can right click through fire, it would be as if you were cooking stuff in your fireplace.
Fire will not spread to any flammable block if the fire is on netherrack no matter what you do! You can place netherrack and a log right next to each other with no protection then light the nether rack and the log won't light!
I knew it! me and my friend built an awesome wood house and we added a fireplace but then later once he left i went upstairs and the house was on fire! he blamed me for all of it cuz i had flint and steel.
@d3monkill3rz I know I just think he sounds irish do you not i can hear a french accent at times but also i hear an irish accent to might just be me...:/
lol i love the fireplaces and my houses are always stone so i dont have to worry about burning it down. Just gotta worry about little siblings deciding to go on and deleting the world...
@maxyderm English isn't his first language and tbh his english his much better than a lot of native english speakers so lay off. I'm sure you have more important things to crib about
@MrTolson6 I don't know how many warnings I put in the video about fire and houses... Said to Save, said to test it first and said to be really careful. I didn't burn your house, but since fire got nerf, you can fix it if it happens. We can always come back and build some more can we? :D
Since the nerf fire is easy to control, most I did was burn my wool carpet back when It was unerfed, small room, wasn't hard to replace, made a break between rooms. Nice to have the rules for specifics though
Dan u are an awesome builder how did u get to be able to build so well cause i wanna be able to create some pretty aweosme custom maps but i don't know how to build very good things? Please reply!!
I think that your title format should be: "Minecraft Home Design: [TOPIC]" Then people can easily refer to which videos they need. Don't you agree? I dunno, just a suggestion.
I'll never use a fireplace with real fire again. It burned down twice. And there weren't even any combustable materials close, the fire spread to a wool block 7 blocks away and spread from there. And the fire was even closed in. But in another place I have wool right next lava, and that doesn't burn.
@DurandalOfAegis Must've been that. but the fire was completly inclosed in stone, with only a glass window at the front. I'll try to build these in my upcomming mountain house when 1.8 comes out (it'll be inspired by your designs). :)
love the videos bud!! but 1 thing i think you should have done is the very first thing ppl do, the thing thats gotta come before any1 even thinks about doors and windows or anything and thats the shape of the house!
@go2hell2004 You know when I build a home from A to Z people just want to either copy or get the save file. By doing some little things here and there, they use their own homes and add stuff to it. That is my goal. I want people to have fun designing their home, not just copying or downloading what I have done.
@DurandalOfAegis thats a good point, i see what your saying, ur giving tips to improove what ppl already have rather than basically building the whole house for them right lol anyway great vids bud, subbed to ya yesturday, about to watch ep. 7 now. oh i was gunna ask ya.. habs fan? lol
@mastercheif898 Hum the thing with stairs is that almost anything goes. Shapes are different for every home, we'll see how we can work on that on a future episode.
@DurandalOfAegis Hey dan i made a piston dining room with red wool around it and I can say that it is pretty sweet i'd would love if u would do an episode on dinging rooms
Thanks Dan! I love that last one; I'll have to try something like that in my next mansion. By the way, could you please do an episode on lighting? I have pretty typical streetlights, table lamps, embedded lighting, etc, but I feel like I've run out of inspiration. Naturally, I turn to your expertise :D
Awesome vid, Dan, so helpful! I've been wanting to put fireplaces in my homes, but have been too scared to. lol Now that I know how to do it right, its gonna be great! Thanks! You know, this episode reminds me of Chim's hot tub episode, in his season 1 of the MC Files... Do you know the one that I'm talking about? If so, do you know why his wool canopy, many blocks above it, kept burning?
Another neat thing you can do is put furnaces behind the fire to make it look like you're cooking food in the fireplace. I guess it can also be used to save a little space as well.
@khalyeleytr 5 block of empty space at least (if the fire is direct under the ceiling.) Its always better to make your ceiling in something else than wood if possible.
I remember my first fireplace. Half slabs of any type will not burn (even WOOD).
It also looks better if you use dark blocks for the interior back wall of the fireplace like obsidian.
