  • I like the way Guile blocks

  • it's not cheap or unbeatable, it's just how to play guile against zangief, to perfection. shit, you all WISH you could throw sonic booms that fast.

  • Down-Back Guile.....unbeatable.

  • Sonic boob, sonic boob!

  • SONIC BOOM LOOKIN AZZ............

  • Sounds like the narrator is also the voice of Guile.

  • so...hard...to...get in...

  • I would be so mad if I was the Zangief player

  • Horrible Guile voice

  • well to say the least if zangief gets close to Guile, then that Guile is toast, so that Guile needed that Sonic boom so its not cheap.... get it?

  • how do they charge so fast??? doesnt it take 2 secondes of charging to execute a sonic boom????

  • @fuckyou7037 you can charge while you're doing something else, for example you can charge while you jump or while you attack. In this case, right after choi did a sonic boom, he immediately started to charge again.

  • I dont get how John Choi is one of the best players by doing the same damn move that makes him look cheap

  • @MemoJr414 cheap is good in street fighter.

  • @SupeerrV ....yeeessss, because if your good at MK, smash brothers, tekken, madden, or call of duty you cant possibly be cheap...if you care at all, you should be trying to understand the mechanics of the game instead of throwing out a smart ass comment.

  • @brainstem46 dude you took it the wrong way, i didnt mean to insult you. Choi is a master at Street Fighter, he has the best footsies, and is the best at throwing fireballs. So he knows the mechanics. Every move he does is for a reason, whether you want to think that is unfair is not my problem. Every good Street Fighter player is uses moves that give them some sort of advantage, if it didnt than that character, and or player wouldnt be as good as they could be.

  • @MemoJr414 I wouldn't say it's cheap....there is more to it than just throwing fireballs. It just gets old. They got rid of the fireball game in street fighter 3. But then it caused something else. Playing "footsy" is the way to play in 3rd strike connect a hit into a special is pretty much every match with a few exceptions.

  • i liked when he did the sonicboom

  • Zangief went home to be a family man after this. He couldn't handle the Sonic Boom.

  • guile never hit puberty

  • i liked Guile's voice for the sonic boom in the first Street fighter 2.

  • I liked the part when Guile used Sonic Boom.

  • Gotta love this matchup as a Guile main.

  • @wataru1995x u dick head

  • @Killcycle1989 u shitface wats wrong with liking this matchup

  • @wataru1995x Everything. how can u like such an unfair fight to ur advantage. sad shit lol

  • @Killcycle1989 nah its just tht u suck so much shitass. get close to guile, mash throws & victory is urs.

  • Raped

  • Choi did the number one strategy against Gief pros-''KEEP YOUR BODY HAIR AWAY FROM MY ASS!"

Seriously, there's nothing cheap about Choi's tactics(yes, you scrubs, they're tactics) considering Guile IS a CHARGE character and Zangeif is a GRAB character who can pretty much rape the sweat off your ass if you're too close. I don't even care if I'm thumbed down-scrubs will whine about "spamming".

  • Evo 2004 - Valle (Sagat) vs Kuni (Zangief)

    ^^^^^^

    IIIIIIIIII

Why you don't let Zangief in.

  • Good reactions by Choi. Wondered why Kuni didnt do more Ban Flats.

  • which match is grand finals?

  • let me recap the entire match for you in script:

SONIC BOOM SONIC BOOM SONIC BOOM SONIC BOOM SONIC BOOM ...

*YEEAAH (ZANGIEF FALLS TO HIS DEATH)

  • @Cajunx2001 thats the best way to beat gief using guile, if gief can breaj guile's defence then gief will win the match

  • @IrrepressibleGuile .. you don't have to tell me that's the way to beat Gief, i've seen enough of ur SF matches to know that tactic without saying, haha

  • choi playing smart

  • I beat him harder than j wong beats his boner

  • thats the most montone voice ive ever heard for guile

  • sonic boooooooom booooom booooooom

  • sonic boom

  • quick charge, do every sonic boom b-f-b+p for maximum charge.

  • back forward, back punch?

  • yeah, pretend the motion is charge back, foward, QUICKLY go to back and press punch. The sonic boom will come out and you will instantly be charging for the next one. Way less than 2 seconds.

  • so you press punch as soon as the stick hits the back input?i've never heard of this before

  • Anyone who uses charge characters should be doing this, its how all the intermeadiate/pro lvl people do it. You just cant keep up at all if you arent doing it this way.

  • does this b-f-b+p also works on Balrog (the boxer)

  • Works on every charge character, but dont expect to throw out every charge move as fast as a sonic boom. Different moves require different amounts of time to charge, but this method will get you to charge it to the required time the fastest.

  • Yes it does.

  • guile wins the matchup pretty easily. Zangief lariat gets hit by guiles crouching forward everytime.

  • Funny thing is that when pro's play there are no combos flying around.

  • Well it aint marvel

  • I meant that when pro's play there are no combos while there are plenty in noob fights.

  • man i hate playin against guile when im using zangief because all they do is shoot sonic booms at u and when u try to jump over them he flash kicks u, i know its a good strategy on guile's part but i just can't seem to overcome that strategy

  • yeah you need some kinda godlike skills and strategy to win that kinda player with zangief... well, i guess that's just character balance.

  • You gotta have patience.

  • use green hand more try to stuff him with jumping lk

  • Omg i need help with it too lol

  • You gotta use that greenhand to move forward while he throws the sonicbooms. As far as flash kicks try to bait him into doing the flash kick and then punish it with a 360 or another throw. I hope that helps

  • THIS IS SO OLD !!!

  • Man as Gief Player this match up is so stacked against you, It seems like one long fight of attrition to get the SPD off. and baiting to make the guile player to make a mistake.

  • hahha guile owns chio is real strategic i like that

  • yea and all gief does is spam grab

  • it would look like spam to any scrub

  • I'm sorry, but he isn't doing anything special, and there are no 'mindgames' there. You can't say that if the zangief was mega pro, he'd survive, because he wouldnt.

That Guile does what every second Sagat player on SF4 does.

  • Try playing Guile in ST against a Gief that knows his stuff. Heck, even those GGPO Giefs are enough. You'd be surprised how you would completely get destroyed because you don't know how to position yourself correctly to throw a sonic boom. When will people finally get it? The difference between spam and perfect spacing?

  • @Zwietracht

So true. It's easier on SF4 to position with Guile, especially with his LP sonic boom having the smallest recovery possibly imaginable.

But half the time any projectile man online just throws them -> Easy jump in combo = Woop, free win.

  • Did Choi counter pick for this match?

  • I main gief & i enjoy this matchup. 3-7 I wonder why he didn't throw out the round house sweep more often. Plus Gief was way too far from Guile to do anything. This matchup contains getting spd range, mixing it w/ round house kicks, stand short kicks, & running grab. Also green fist works great & hops to spd works nice if you can time it right when dude tries to do low forward. Then again i've only played people on XBL.

  • I believe Guile's low forward is just a little bit longer than the range on Zangief's piledrivers. That can be pretty tough...

How do you do the running grab to get around that? Do you try to beat low forward with Zangief's low roundhouse and do a running grab? How do you do that without getting hit with a reversal?

  • That's why you have to hop the low forward into SPD. Also when guile does low forward, you can trade hits or beat it clearly w/ roundhouse sweep. Jumping down forward kick also beats out Guiles low forward. Running Bear grab is only for surprise move. Lot of guiles like to just sit & turtle all day, its surprisingly fast & catches them off guard.

I'll probably do a video of gief vs each character on their matchup one of these days.

  • Super Turbo sux.

  • hey....hey....hey...just. hey....sonic boom

  • Comment removed

  • Wow Choi did perfect with his zoning in this match.

  • wich version of street fighter is this?

  • Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo

  • every character has their BAD matchups....this is one for Zangief...so there is nothing scrubby or cheap about the way Choi was playing....why would u rush down Zangief with a charge character(or any character) it's SUICIDE

  • Wow, no comments on Guile being cheap with projectiles in this video? Holy crap, SF4 sure has changed the scrub climate lately.

  • The only scrub here is you.

  • Reading comprehension sucks lately.

I was making a comment to how every single SF video has some idiot complaining about something cheap. Yet you don't see that here.

What I'm saying is that there are less scrubs than there were a year ago. It's a compliment to the community. But I guess that requires you to know how to read.

  • OO i get it i didnt pay attention to the question mark. i miss read it.

  • It's all good bro. The SF community is becoming stronger, nothing wrong with a little youtube smack talk now and then. I can take it. :)

  • Yea i feel like an idiot for not seeing it sooner. lol!

  • it's about winning no how you do it. Especially in a tournament setting.

  • Read my post again until you understand what I mean. I meant I'm impressed there are no comments on Guile being cheap in this comments section. That the scrub climate has lessened since SF4 came out. However, English teachers continue to fail nationwide.

  • Read mine I was confirming yours but then again people can misinterpretation the meaning behind almost anything written without tone of voice. But please tear upon my lack of English understanding on youtube more.

  • Was more of a generalized statement. :) However if you insist I think you meant: "...then again people can 'interpret' the meaning behind almost anything...".

Yeah I'm an asshole, but you asked. :)

  • SF4 sucks, Sagat = scrub friendly to the max.

  • fuck yeah

  • Have I played SF2? Yeah, I probably played it for like a couple weeks once... ha.

  • omfg noob!!

  • Kuni is one of the best Gief players on this planet.

John Choi is the best ST player on this planet, AND he's playing Giefs ultimate counter; guile.

  • how does he do sonic booms so rapidly when the charge is required (2 sec?), or is it different in SF2?

  • You can start charging as soon as the move comes out. So you do the back to left punch thing and immediately start charging back again. You can charge pretty much whenever you can physically hold the stick back. Even before a match begins. Although it might be different in SF2, it might be a lower time like 1.5seconds.

Watching someone derp another player with projectiles is kinda lame, but you know. It's fuckin zangief n shit. gotta win and shit man.

  • Yeah, i get that. It might be a little shorter, in terms of time required for a charge, in SF2. I've only really gotten into SF4 and played SF3 and SF2 only a tiny bit.

But yeah, Zangief is a beast, gotta keep that distance, no question.

  • oh man those sonic booms do some beast damage even when being blocked ! lol

  • That was some grade 'A' Guile lock down by Choi. Just nicely played.

  • Who is the best American Guile player? Who is the best Japanese Guile player?

  • i dunno who the best american guile is but i kno that the best japanese guile is Muteki

  • BEST American Guile player of all time? That title easily belongs to Tomo The Legend Ohira, nobody could beat his Guile remotely consistently...however Tomo was also the BEST Ryu player in America too.

It's too bad all of these players came after, however all of them would have fell before Tomo anyhow...the dudes skills were beyond any Top SF player we see in today's generation.

Choi Boi is still the man regardless, I love to see Guile in Top lvl play, even if it was shanked coming out CE.

  • Pity Tomo decided to give it up.

  • wow you came on every street fighter video and completely lick tomo's ass, why are you so in love with tomo.... i can bet you have never seen him play before , you are just taking peoples word for it.

  • Do you go everywhere and tell everyone how shitty Tomo is. He asked who the overall best Guile was in the US ever, are you dumb or retarded?

I've been to World's Finest, have you? Oh right, you probably have never been anywhere on the tournament world.

Only an idiot would claim Guile is Upper-Tier in Hyper Fighting, lolz, seriously. Quit yourself before you fall off your high horse again.

  • Commie got Sonic Boom'd.

  • I'm glad they kept Guile's old voice in HD Remix. He sounds like a homosexual here.

  • big bird

  • This is hard to watch after watching Kuni own Valle.

  • I absolutely hate Guile when I'm using Zangief...I get spammed like its no tomorrow, and if I get near, they flash kick my ass back to where I started.

  • Beautifully played Guile.

  • spammer lol

  • I gotta give it to Choi. It's really hard to keep Kuni's Gief off of you.

  • In a recent interview, Alex Valle described Choi as "like a robot" and that he's so passive and locks you down so hard that it's really hard to get to him, let alone beat him.

  • kuni ever hear of banishing fist? yesh

  • banishing fist would work if choi didn't distance it right. i'm pretty sure kuni knew that if he could use the hand he would. chances r if he used the hand, choi would throw him and they'll be back at where they started with sonic booms.

  • except at that distance the hand might stop the sonic boom but guile ends up recovering so fast that he still eats the low forward. It was actually a better idea trying to time the 360K move when Guile whiffs a low forward in the first place and try and catch him during his recovery frames.

  • How come Zangief didn't use Dragon motion+Punch move? It would have been useful againist the sonic boom rampage.

  • I agreed, doing the green flow fist would had destory the sonic boom & got him close enuff for a SPD! Kuni mess up by doing that 360+K move so many time.........

  • It was the smartest thing Choi could do to use the sonic boom like that. He kept Kuni at bay the WHOLE match and pretty much eliminated any chance of getting thrown. Good playing.

  • Guile being used like that spells disaster for Zangeif. There is just a very small window for attacks for the Z man.

  • I have 2 word to explain this video:SONIC BOOM!

  • BUKTOOTH IS THE BEST

  • hardgayramen,I played against choi at svgl for 2 yrs. he owns you and everyone, stfu

  • Get your gay fantasy bullshit out of here, youtube comments are dumb enough without 5th grade homo jokes thrown in.

I play Choi at SVGL and Keystone II on the regular as well, and not only does he pick Guile during non-counterpicking matches on occasion, but he's a solid player and a chill person. But I'm sure you've met him and played him loads of times and can totally counter that fact. Go listen to Carmelldansen and quit trolling shit, silly cunt.

  • Also, he didn't get owned in the least.

Perfecting Kuni and then dropping him next round with >=75% health is not getting owned, it's the opposite. Fuck, you're stupid as hell.

  • He was talking about the Choi with O. Sagat vs Kuni, he got beat pretty hard.

  • For some reason, i seem to only meet east cost players... I really want to meet choi, valle, wats, and the other west coast legends. They sound like nice people.

  • Uh, Choi has been known to pick Guile back in the day.

Instead of being a trolling prick that dosent know shit about the game, how about actually making a name for yourself. Then we might actually take your bitch ass seriously.

  • poor zangief

  • LOL he'd beat you

  • its boring, but i wouldn't call one of the best st players in the world "bad" cause he uses "cheap" tactics. Besides, why would any guile player get near geif anyway? That would be retarded.

  • You're right. I shouldn't have said that he was "horrible", because he is one of the best players in the world. It's just that I get so frustrated and bored watching Choi!

  • its gets more frustrating when you fight good old choi boy.

  • i dunno, theres no such thing as really being "cheap" in SF2 every character no matter how cheap has holes in their defense, I was playing street fighter HD a few days ago and i went into a room where this dude was raping with balrog (39 wins) he beat me a few times until i countered his cheap ass with my cheap guile and sonic boomed his ass to death.

  • No - 'Gief is just defenseless against a high level Guile player.
