  • Does anyone have experience with electric kistkas? I always test mine (it's not electric) on newspaper after I add new wax and the lines are fine, but as soon as I apply it to the egg it comes out in blobs. Will the electric kistka stop this, or am I just doing something wrong?

  • @pogmofoil You may be using the wrong type of beeswax. There are types of wax specifically made for electric kitskas

  • @pamrouzer Yeah I've been using basic beeswax. Will the special kind work better for non-electric kitskas too?

  • @pogmofoil I've never used it for the traditional kitska, but I would imagine it working better (if not the same). If you try it let me know how it works out :) I just got in my order of new dyes, so once I make my colors and am ready to go I will try it out too

  • @pamrouzer If I do I will definitely let you know, thank you so much for the tip! Happy pysanky writing!

  • omfg see those eggs on the table its fucking awsome

  • Could you be bothered... lol

  • In Ukranian culture what so you do with the eggs hen you finish decorating them?

  • @beefalie they are used as decoration

  • can you use this technique on vases?

  • where can I get the TOOL ?

  • @Centannicocktails I got mine at a craft store like Michaels (I don't know if you have that wherever you live) but you can also get them online, try Ukrainian Gift Shop Inc.'s website. It wouldn't let me post it on here but you'll be able to find it.

  • @Centannicocktails acctually you can make your own KINKSTA if you want i'll make a video of how to make one for you

  • However, it did look pretty and everyone enjoyed them. I placed a sting through the holes so the eggs could be hung. Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Very informative. Thank you for sharing. Do you think it is possible to place an actual picture on the egg? Like they do on sheet cake but in a smaller form? I have placed a picture on the egg on one side for family as gifts but I was not

100% happy with my results since the eggs do not come out as smooth as I thought it would.

  • I am Ukrainian and this is has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember...GO UKRAINE!!!

  • Must I use food dye only? Can I use other colour dye for art work?

  • i tried it this year for the first time , it is extremely hard!

  • We do this in Poland as well. Its so much fun. Some of these decorated eggs are amazing. I don't have that much patience lol

  • @violetviolets yeaa

  • i empty the egg first.

  • Except for the step of melting the wax with a candle (Grandma or Mom should do that), this is a great thing for children 8 and up. It reminds me of the batik cloth we used to dye as kids!

  • Those are gorgeous. I looked this up since my niece found one of my favorite childhood books, Rechenka's Eggs.

  • I'll make one for an Ukranian guy that I like. Tehee. Is Valentine's Day inappropriate to give it to him?

  • dude i swear before i clicked to watch da vid,the picture next to where ur supposed to click to watch da vid looked lyk a hentai pic

  • is beutiful

  • dont the eggs rot slowly and stink like the living dead!!

  • Actually, with pysanky you empty out the egg using a tool and a blower.

They're clean, light, and don't stink.

  • Comment removed

  • Not if you are careful and never break them. Blowing out the egg also works.

  • omg it so much fun i did this at school in grade 6

  • same dude i did that to who was ur teacher

  • I think your the one needing of a life and making ukrainian easter eggs is fun

  • i LOVE people like you are!

  • THANKS daa fawnzee

  • oh, wow! there awesome... that must take a lot of skill

  • sexy

  • cool it looks like it is panted

  • The MUSIC-please!!!! Why torture us with that insanely irritating sound in the background of what would be a very good and clear video? I'm leaving before I can watch it all-because of that MUSIC.

  • if we keep th inside part of the egg will it go off?

  • An even harder Hungarian variation (that I know of, it was probably also practiced in Ukraine) is a shod egg.

This means that someone, (usually a man, sometimes an actual blacksmith) would carefully drive nails into the egg and fix a small horseshoe (couple of millimeters big) onto its surface.

Of course this was a very delicate procedure and a show of high skill.

Receiving such an egg from a maiden was a sure sign that she was serious about the proposal.

  • wow they're so beautiful!

  • thank you!
