@Perni Dude, I don't want to sound angry but don't you know the mechanics of a glacier? snow falls on top of a mountain, over time (decades) it is compressed and becomes ice. it is then pushed down the slopes of the mountain under its own weight, eventually reaching a point where it disintegrates and falls into a lake/river/sea. you should compare a glacier to a river of ice and so the calving of a glacier is actually a sign that it is still working. due to GW, some melt too fast nowadays.
@Perniciousdeeds I'm a 17 year old guy from holland who just likes to explain this kind of thing to people. when i'm finished with school I'm going to study climatology or something closely related to that. do I really sound like an asshole to you?

This wave is not a tsunami. A tsunami is an unusually large sea wave produced by a seaquake or undersea volcanic eruption. This is clearly neither...

I find it disturbing rather... glaciers should stay glaciers, damn they're melting away.
koushinproductions 4 months ago
@koushinproductions This is a natural occurrence - it is part of the natural (and healthy) cycle of glaciers
