  • Its painfully obvious the ride cymbal isn't wired up properly... best band ever tho:D

  • @zitfig this is the greatest comment ever.

  • why, on every video, is justin bieber's name mentioned without fucking fail....yes I know im contributing but fuck I'm mad

  • This song and the lyrics are the best ever, so clever!

  • the best band in u.k is manchester united , definitley!

  • The wit in Alex's lyrics is key to the Monkeys' sound. Can't wait for the new album.

  • this song gets to me evrytime. i love the Arctic Monkeys so much!

  • Thirteen people like Justin Bieber and surely Daddy Yankee. Thirteen people will go to hell at 12-12-2012 for sure. Thirteen people are deaf surely

  • @Zerchy012 what are u eating ??

  • @ignacioadolfo7 Caffeine certainly dude.

  • got tickets to see them in their/ my hometown SHEFFIELD UK!!!!!!!! the best town ever xD

  • @topcatiscool im coming all the way from wigan to join you!

  • @topcatiscool see u there! lol

  • only the strokes save the american rock scene..

  • @rickrique While most of the Strokes are technically Americans, except Fabrizio Moretti who was born in Brazil, most of them have very cosmopolitan backgrounds. Albert Hammond Jr.'s father is British, Julian's father is Spanish and his mother Danish, Nikolai's father is French and his mother Russian. So I'd hesitate to label them simply "American" because they're much more than that.

  • @rickrique Also, they've all spent a lot of time living in Europe (as opposed to simply playing shows there) so one could logically conclude they've been rather heavily influenced by the European music scene, and therefore I'd say their music is more European than American. It's your call though, I'm just putting that out there.

  • @LordClaremorris While that is technically true, they are American. America is a melting pot of different nationalities, We could pick apart most bands if going by Ethnicity. A lot of our successful bands here in England have Irish roots.

  • I wish i was in england..it rocks!america is all hip hop..it sucks!

  • @zorinkima

interpol, strokes, the bravery...deftones? look around man..

  • @erenix sorry dude dont like em...american rock scene died in 2004

  • @erenix

and those are the more popular bands; i love shuffling through piles of records and finding US indie bands. I'm only here to get a kick out of the bass, otherwise...

  • @erenix + cage the elephant, black keys, the white stripes, Kings of Leon, Bright Eyes i mean the list goes on and on

  • They're just like they dont give a fuck about all these people, and that's why they're the best band in UK, btw the way they live the stage and hes throwing the guitar is just epic

  • HOT!!

  • WATCH THE APOLLO VERSION OF THIS! FUCKING INCREDIBLE!

  • Holy Cow these guys are fantastic! and yes....never thought I'd say this...Beatlesque..

  • is the last 2 minutes of this song the best piece of music ever or is it just me

  • @kevmg77 could be you hahaha

    but its pretty good anyway

  • @kevmg77 ....not just the last two minutes....the whole fucking 6 minutes....deadly tune.

  • He's singing like he's fucked up on something... check out Arctic Monkeys- A Certain Romance - live at the apollo

  • de la secuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu =... cha q mal q no la tocaron aqui, esa fue la chispa q me iso escucharlos xP...

  • definitely the peak of their careers so far. Cool band, but they play the 'we dont care' attitude too much during interviews. Bit over humble, grates me a bit.

They sound soooo much like the cd live, really cool

  • JESUS FUCK! these guys were my age when they played this and when their debut album came out. i feel like a fucking failure.

  • the crowd was rushing them along with the clapping in alex's solo part. almost messed them up. too bad their just so solid haha.

  • anyone agree that alex looks like a young richard hammond?

  • @hotwirejunky No lol!

  • Alex te amo!!!!!! tu voz me mata T-T

  • This was when they gave a shit.

  • i love alex's hair here! i love his hair no matter his style but i really like it here! but more than his hair i love him!!! and the whole band!! =D

  • what guitar is using jamie? thanks anyway!

  • Alex Turner bought a guitar because of Oasis so arguing which band is better is pointless because without Oasis there would be no Arctic Monkeys.

  • @danielmcardle01 They started making serious music because of The Strokes (best american band).

  • @danielmcardle01 that doesnt make the argument pointless; students can outclass their masters my friend

  • @Puregeniuscomedy no music is better tham other , the opnion changes to person to person

  • did anyone catch that julian impression at 3:43-3:45? lol.

  • anyone know when this was?

  • Reading Festival in 2006

  • Look Oasis & Arctic Monkeys are bloody good bands, so shut it you two! I agree Arctics are better musicians, but does it matter??

Anyway in terms of inspiration, the Stone Roses inspired all this Brit music, so hail the legendry Stone Roses & Mr Ian Brown!!

  • Stone Roses certainly didnt inspire all of it, it was The Smiths and The Jam that inspired it. Which was in turn inspired by bands like New York Dolls and Television

The Smiths influenced John Squire and newer bands and kept that slightly heavier alternative sound rather than the light psychidelic stuff of SR. Morrissey is the Doll's biggest fan and said without them he wouldnt have ever got into music, so directly it goes way back before Stone Roses.

  • @joeycourtz you're are quite right with your comments, however the Stone Rose are considered one of the most influential bands of their time, and certainly inspired the like of Oasis etc etc, and therefore Britpop. Of course they had their own inspirations themselves.

  • gah!!totally luv dis song.arctic are sooo much better live.i rarely like live performance but wif arctic it got so much betta.

  • every lyric in this is so true fucking amazing song wish i had of been there

  • Can't compare arc monkeys or oasis with each other their different eras, genre and styles. It's like comparing led Zeppelin with the beatles. Some prefer beatles others prefer zepp. also please don't start another argrument abou zepp and beatles lol

  • Well you can. Look at Oasis' lyrics, look at their drumming, look at their guitar riffs, look at their singing. As good as Arctic Monkeys? Clearly not. Whereas with Led Zeppelin and Beatles they are better at different things. Oasis are better at nothing. It has nothing to do with eras or different genres and styles. Because it isn't exactly comparing techno and country are they?

  • even though oasis weren't as "technically" good as arctic monkeys they were the top british (even though they're really irish :P) band of the last 2 decades. They inspired bands like arctic monkeys.

Don't get me wrong though i love both bands and i missed my final chance to see oasis in slane so i'm gutted but hopefully arctic monkeys will be at oxegen

  • They were amazing at wembley on the 17th

  • i went to the same gig the day after. best gig of my life. BRILLINAT. well gutted they didnt play this song though

  • can't wait to see them 8th december

  • these were fuckin amzing in liverpool :D

  • los arctic monkeys son los mejores mlastima que no hayan venido a mexico

  • cant wait wembly arena the 17th :)

  • same! cant wait :D

  • theeeiir best songg.. always loved their song meanings

  • can't wait to see them in december

  • Somebodys stoned ...

What a band! Looking forward to seeing them in London :)

  • Cant Wait To See These In November :D

  • Arctic Monkeys are not better then Oasis but it doesnt mean there not good. I went to see Oasis in June & I will be going to see Arctic Monkeys in November.

Quit the hate there both quality

  • Noel is a genius,wanckers!

But the Monkeys now are the best band in U.K,definitely!

  • They would be if they continued with there old style and music but there new stuff is nothing compared to songs like this

  • @gemarcher83

muse > arctic monkeys sorry chap, although i do love this song

  • @nadeemo its down to opinion, you prefair muse i call it a tie and think oasis are the best lmao

  • @gemarcher83 world*

  • @gemarcher83 what about radiohead, muse... i love the monkeys, but that's certainly too big for thm

  • @0DwightMcCarthy0 You're right...Radiohead and Muse are massive and I prefer the first, but Monkeys are my favourite! :-)

  • Maybe Arctic Monkeys would be closer to Oasis if they still did this (their best) song at their gigs.

  • y use fitin

arctic monkeys dont care wether tere better tan oasis or any other band, they just play brill music and dats it.shud be same for the proper arctics fan!!

like just listen to tis song!!!!

  • Yeah man totally.. but fuck Oasis, so smug

  • i love monkeys but they aint fit to wipe oasis boots. lyrically or musically if oasis (noel's) lyrics ment nothing then why did they connect with so many ppl go listen to fade away. no monkeys record touch that lyrically. wt noel actually said was when he 1st started writing is lyrics ment nothing. i.e shakermaker. but songs like liveforever how can u say they have no meaning. arctics arnt bigger then oasis never were and after there new album they never will be

  • i dont think you can compare arctic monkeys and oasis tbh they are two totally different bands and i like both of them :)

  • why people compare them is ebcause they like them both and want to know which is better but i think your right there completely different

  • The Arctics absolutely piss all over Oasis, both musically and lyrically. Gallagher's Lyrics mean nothing at all and he's even said so himself. They were just at the arse end of the Manchester music scene

  • they aren'r bigger than oasis yet, but in my opinion they are better...much better..

  • which chords alex is the chorus?

  • :D !!

  • Arctic Monkeys own Oasis' ass everytime.

  • No way are they better then Oasis. I seen Oasis at Stadium of Light this year & I am going to see Arctic Monkeys at Newcastle Metro Arena.

Both great bands but not many bands are better then Oasis

  • ill agree monkeys arnt as big as oasis. but in my opinion they are MIIIIIIIILLLESS better!

  • i love arctic monkeys but there not better than oasis, at all

  • yes the new oasis are here but i think arctic monkeys are bigger and better than oasis already!

  • cant w8 to see them in november

  • The new oasis is here

  • holy crap...

there just soooo good :| .

  • :O i went on this then and thought it was from 2009 about to be like "cheeky nobheads for not playing this at leeds" then realised it was an older video!

Im gutted they dont play this live anymore its my favourite song by them

  • Im sure it will make it back to their setlist sometime, i have a feeling they're gonna be one of those band that changes their setlist alot!

  • same here. i'm seeing them tomorrow night, and if they dont play it, i might kill somone

  • i really hope humbug is a sucsess for tem and dat fans dont stray becus they changed their style of music!!!!!

  • I love the way they change the solo when they play live, it's more better than the studio one :)

  • LEEDS 09 ! i cannot wait any longer

  • amazing band. i am SO excited for seeing them on saturday! hope they play this cos when I saw them at Alexandra Palace they didnt :(

  • soz they said tey werent gna play tis anymore :(

    tey have changed

    fake tales

    certain romance

    mrdy bum

    teddy picker

    and a few others

  • LEEDS 09!!!!!

  • Cant Wait for Reading 2009!

  • knackered converse (Y)

  • 24th august and its caled humbug :)

  • thnx !

  • nah they decided not to give thier new album a name

  • well oh they might wear classic reeboks. . .

  • or knackered converse

  • or tracky bottoms tucked in socks

  • but thats what the point is not the point is that ther anit no romance around ther

  • well sed sir

    x

  • you cant class Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys as an album you cock!!:L

  • f*** why they dont come to portugal?!?!!

  • Amey!

  • epic song

  • Great song !

check out " kevindiemusic " cover for this song ;)

  • Leeds 09? It's all about the Reading festival 09! :-)

  • omg no!

there lyrics are the best thing about them!

  • ye i supose in a way but if any other band used lyrics like them it would just be shit.

  • You may be right. I think Turner, especially on the first album, though, is quite the urban realist poet. Though I didn't use to, I like his lyrics quite a lot now.

  • i've always thought that. he describes city life through poetry, like riot van, this song, view from the afternoon, and so on.

  • from the ritz to the rubble :)

  • ☻/

  • can't fucking wait for leeeeeeeds 2009!

  • best song from them!lol

  • fo sho

  • Ooh, Reading 2009 is gonna be awesome! Cannot wait!

  • Yeah of course thats your opinion and i respect it (:

Who am I to tell u what to do and who to like? :S Im just sayin that I cant decide whos better xĐ

  • i would give anything to get to go this year! AM are one of the headliners! AHHHH!

  • Arctics are the best band except The Beatles and few others. Excellent brilliant fukin perfect music, perfect lyrics, perfect everything!

Well tell 'em if u like, tell 'em all tonight! (:

  • Nah I think the Arctics are better than The Beatles. I like all their songs while theres a bunch of Beatles songs that I dont like

  • Yeah but everybody knows that The Beatles were THE BAND and they will never be forgotten. But I like em as much as I like Monkeys (: I really cant decide whos better, dunno.

  • well thats your opinion. and its certainly not EVERYBODY. its not wrong for me to put the arctic monkeys above the beatles as it is my opinion. someone can think the jonas brothers or miley cyrus are the best thing that happened to music. they arent wrong as its how they personally connect with the music thats important, not how many other people like it or something. though i think you have to listen to most types of music before truly saying its the best of all actually.

  • the arctic monkeys are not better than the beatles, thats seriously crazy.

Im from sheffield, im a huge fan....but jesus christ they are not that good.

  • well i like the arctic monkeys more than i like the beatles. hence, i think they're better than the beatles. i mean i like some beatles songs.. not many though. i dont have to force myself to like something i don't really dig just cause other people say its 'the best'. my opinion is judged by myself. its not crazy to think that at all.

  • same. but there are so many more beatles songs than arctic monkeys songs. arctics are probably my favourite band, beatles arent far behind

  • The Beatles continued making incredibly music for 10 years, although the Arctics have had 2 brilliant albums, so did Oasis, I think it's too early to compare them to such bands yet. But they are absolutely unbelievable, I like to think most unbiased fans would agree with me?

  • Think about how clever arctic monkeys lyrics are though, and how much music and lyrics have progressed since the beatles.. not saying they wernt brilliant at what they done, but we have come a long way since then , people need to realise that.

  • Yes most definitely, and I totally agree, if they carry on what they are doing then they will be considered one of the great English bands. I just think it's too early to compare them to the great bands yet, they are the best band of this decade without question, but this has been the poorest decade of music for a long time.

  • yeah your right there, this decade has been pretty awful as far as popular music goes but arctic monkeys are definatly up there with the best bands of the decade along with queens of the stone age and biffy clyro , in my opinion.

  • Yeah two good bands to throw in there, I'm a big Kasabian fan as well, but I dunno I think the 80's might have been worse than the 00's.

  • ive heard kasabians new stuff is pretty good, havnt actually listen to it yet tho, i shall have to

yeah possibly, im not a fan of original style punk at all or all that cock rock bollocks from the 80's, but think about how how awful all this "r'n'b" malarkee is, badly produced boring shite with no lyrical/emotional content or interesting musical side.. atleast punk has emotion i suppose.. dunno about cock rock tho.

  • Yeah it really is, I'd recommend it. Both the 80's and 00's where times nobody should really talk about hahaha. The Sex Pistols where the beginning and end of punk in my eyes, I absolutely love them, and no band which cites them as an influence are anywhere as good as they were, no band will ever have as much image or attitude as they had.

  • its a manufactured image tho isnt it ;) haha , nah it dosnt mean they didnt make good music, id be silly to say millions of fans are wrong , i guess its just my opinion its not like i cant stand listening to it , i just wouldnt buy an album or anything like that. and yeah haha everyone should erase theryre memories of the 80's and try not to remember now.

  • Hahaha I wouldn't say manufactured they where about attitude and style and it's how they where. Songs like God Save The Queen and Anarchy In The UK defined the late 70s/early 80s. Never Mind The Bollocks was one of the great groundbreaking albums if you ask me, nobody had heard anything like it before and it was innovative. But yes back to the original point, I think the Arctic Monkeys 3rd album will be the album that defines them as a either a very good band, or a great band.

  • i just find there attitude more cheesey than anything to be honest , thats just my opinion tho.

yeah i think humbug will take a while to get into but when you do itll be amazing and it will show us they the band can do more than many first thought, im definatly looking forward to hearing it and seeing them at reading festival this year :)

  • I'd say it's the total opposite, but fair enough, everybody is entitled to their opinion :)

I really hope this will be the album which makes them because they deserve it for having such a creative and entertaining music style. I'm going to Leeds to see them haha :)

  • Atlast a sensible person on youtube! haha.

Yeah they definatly do deserve it, I have a feeling it will stray away from thier usual style quite a lot though and so a lot of mainstream music fans wont like them anymore because theyre idiots... but for real music fans i think it will be a brilliant album.

And damn you get to see them a day before me haha
