  • WOWWW! :O HAHAH! :D

  • Very enjoyable thank you

  • brilliant video

  • does this have anything to do with stevie wonders secret life of plants?

  • Lovely... so no matter what we do we have to destroy life to sustain our own... This is just crappy!

  • @DrackonKnight I don't wanna live in this world anymore ):

  • @ZSh0ck I know it sucks just Do Not Remove your self from it. You are here to learn something... do not ask me I have no I idea what You are here to learn. Hell I do not even know what I am supposed to learn HA! I am just saying that we are all here for a reason and when our own respective time comes, it will come on its own time.

  • @DrackonKnight I was just being sarcastic, but there's a lot of wisdom in your words. I am here, and as long as I am here I'm gonna try to make this a better planet. I know a lot do not care about it, but I'll stand strong. It's not just about being vegan, it's also about taking down those who makes us suffer, or censor us through a broken system that leads to one's pleasure at cost of many's blood... yes, we're all here for a reason, we must find that purpose.

  • "Bacteria is the simplest plant life." 1:14 cool...

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, boy! What am I going to eat now, I am a vegan....

  • @turtle12369 STUDY SUNGAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If spok say its logical, it probably is!

  • Leonard Nemoy!

  • THE YOGHURT IS ALIVE TOO!!!

  • So if I can communicate with plants?

    Can I be a Druid?

  • @shan9usfc well if that is what a Druid does, then the proof of Druids has been rediscovered by Mr Backster.

  • so if some1 crashes into a tree

    does it scream?

  • @skillz139

    You're clever, haha.

  • Its not real mythbusters proved it and several other scientists...

  • @lordofspeeds4321 They didn't do the experiment correctly or the same way Baxter did. Sorry, but their conclusions are incorrect.

  • @lordofspeeds4321 what episode?

  • Something to think about when you eat your living, cognizant salads.

  • Annoying music...

  • well i wish my weed plants would grow faster but so far no substantial increase in production

  • @jbsoriginality you have to tell them you love them very very much ;o) xx

  • @jbsoriginality

They have a personality, conscious energy, awareness of their own. So they CAN respond to you, but don't have to.

  • It's Spock!!!

  • We need more science programs like this, interesting and very relaxing :), I just love the silence and pace in this video. Discovery Channel has turned in to some kind of informative action movie channel. This is awesome, even as background noise as I type :p

And yes, eat as many fruits and nuts as possible. Then If you feel sick start eating plants. meat really is a very last resort if you ask me.

  • Not only have feelings, telepathic sensory feelings.

  • I can't help but wonder how your lawn must feel as you fire up the mower...

  • Serious question. If you are a vegetarian, and are told that plants feel pain for they are living beings and you are ripping them out of the ground, therefor killing them, what do you eat then? Can you really live off of just fruits and nuts as a human being? Does that really fulfill all your nutritious needs?

  • @dancesonpoles I don't know for sure, but I think that all the body really needs is protein and fiber (and some fats) which nuts and fruits do provide, so as long as you eat enough of them it should fulfill your needs.

  • @dancesonpoles fruit and nuts live in the smae manner too. Watch "paul chek the dirt facts" it is fascinating!

  • Yes, plants have intelligence. All matter in our Universe, including seemingly lifeless things like rocks, have consciousness, because everything is made of the only thing our Creator had to work with--energy. So...a pet rock wasn't such a stretch, was it? BTW - it's Cleve BACKSTER, not Baxter.

  • science is based on provable facts, religion is not science. lol

  • government should only have laws that are generally agreed by all of us.. like protection from theft of property, violence to your body or property.. and thats just about it.. what government shouldnt do is enforce laws created by a majority, because the majority of people are tyrannical jackasses that would love to make up any rule for you they choose.. government shouldnt be a damn game where the majority make the rules for all of us and treat us like kids..thats why democracy sucks plants

  • STOP torturing yoghurt NOW!

The text beneath this vid is VERY interesting.

  • Yoghurt torture needs to be outawed. NOW!

  • It's a refreshing start in my life to know and finally understand stuff like this. I had no idea that all this had already been experimented with back in the good ol' days(i was probably just born then). I thought this science was fairly new. But, it surely tells of the endless and wildest possibilities that one would bump into, if he/she's willing to step out of the box/matrix.

  • He also found that if you bless your food, and respect it, that it will not react in a negatively way. The lesson to learn is to love and be one with that which you interact with.

  • @hwdetar some people have tried to discredit him, but they alter his techniques, form working conscious interactions with their subjects, and never elicit genuine emotional responses in human testing. They also fail to leave the building, thus undermining their attempts to make this experiment more scientifically valid.

  • @hwdetar

So it sounds to me that this experiment is increditably hard to replicate, except maybe in a triple-blind (or more) type of fashion---where the loving person is not administoring the treatment (threat) or gathering the results in order to avoid expectancy bias, but the plant may get confused by the bunch of ppl surrounding it.

It is difficult because scientific research requires the experimenter to be emotional detached/ objective. Psy research could be measured in terms of attention

  • No matter what you do you will be killing life around you just for trying to stay alive yourself. Some of our food screams out loud and some screams with its mind when we kill it. Oh the sadness....haha Survival of the fittest right? Poor yogurt. LOL

  • Are you guys serious? I personally did this experiment and got the same results as cleve backster did. Do you refuse to believe this because it takes you out of your comfort zone of reality, or is in because your vegetarian and if you were to accept this you would have nothing to eat? Please tell me where you got your information about how other scientists were replicating backsters experiments and getting different results

  • You have millions of liter of yoghurt in the food industry, and on the shelves. But this little sample of yoghurt would influence another little sample of yoghurt. Perhaps seeing is what you want to see?

  • And Ye Gods, the narrator for this video is Leonard Nimoy. The video must have been from an episode of "In Search of..."

And we all know what a scientifically accurate show that was.

  • Johnny Carson (well known to be a skeptic) had Baxter on the Tonight Show. Carson found Baxter's ideas to be so ridiculous that he (Carson) walked up to the plant and said "You have rhododendron in the old country"? Then Carson began snipping off the plant's leaves. I think Carson summed up the situation pretty well.

  • This discovery must bring a whole new world of cautious living to those who believe in reincarnation.

  • Why do you think Cleve Baxter was eternally ignored by the scientific community, along with most of the 'research' in "The Secret Life of Plants"? Surely, even if a fraction of what Baxter claimed was true, he would have received a Nobel prize. No, he was ignored because his 'findings' were tested and analysed time and time again, all without any replication of his results. His 'data' was trash. Exactly what you'd expect from one who claims something as ridiculous as 'plants are sentient.'

  • I wonder if the plant acts as a receiver for human projected consciousness?

  • There was another video a better one, that had plants reacting if someone chopped lettuce next to them. Like this one it was around the 60's , does anyone have a link to that one?

  • The instruments shown in the video are oscilloscopic and a "lie detector" (a rudimentary graphic ohmmeter). They are instruments for "measuring" greatness Electrical ... and not quantum particles.

The work of Peter Tompkins is not taken seriously by any true scientist. Anyone who wants to prove you can buy a multimeter and make their own experiences at home and draw their conclusions.

  • Everyone can communicate with a plant or divine being, if you have a mind, you don't need a machine for that, if you are a part of the state of the art being of nature itself! if you use your full sensory perceptions, and the power of imagination itself. Nature knows these things very good, since the beginning. Infinite mind consciousness awareness is 'All' that is.

  • @ase010

Scientists like to gather more supporting evidence that can be objectively, independently verified by others rather than relying on personal intuition.

  • I've tortured alot of peanut-butter and jelly in my day

  • Thank you for posting this! I have been looking for this video for over 30 years! I first saw it in Psych 101 in 1974! As I recall, there was more to it, if you have the entire film I would love seeing the rest again. This is the most poignant example of what we now know to be "no-space-between" -or oneness - at the quantum level. That means...OMG...might there be just one of us here? And, if that's true, as it obviously is - why do we have such a hard time getting along with each other?

  • if it was established in the 60s thru experiments that plants can feel, why isnt this a widely known fact today?

  • That's a serious stretch to suggest that it was "proven" that plants "feel."

  • Because most people are skeptical about it. This video also proves that we arent that separate from much of what is around us, and certain people do not want us thinking this because they make their living by destroying what is around us; they like to maintain a view that we are separate from the world around us and the destruction of the world results in growth, expansion, and profit.

  • @khole15 The Native American Indians' hundreds of years ago use to talk to all living things and even ask them questions like what are you good for health wise for the human to use. The people were in-tuned to a different beat then. They were much more spiritually aware of their environment and communicated with all living things. We have lost that natural gift so much so that we think it to be just silly talk or down right stupid!

  • Waoooo, what a crazy experiment!!! I love it. I would never have thought about something like that!

Conclusion: The world is so big and we understand so little!

    Great video

  • Lol happened in 60s and now i am hearing it lol

  • I used to love that old series "In Search Of" Thanks for posting this video no only for that reason but I find the subject very interesting too!

  • We're all made from the same thing, so we are one. Our thoughts isolate us into our own bubbles of reality - where we see everything as outside of us and blind us to our oneness with all life.

  • sounds familiar

  • Cool!

  • could this study be any older ?

  • lol...i know right?...it's as old as time itself...and even much older than that...

  • Fascinating stuff!

  • is this a piss take?

  • Any idiot knows trees hate people picking and eating their fruit, especially apple trees. Haven't you people seen the Wizard of Oz?

  • fuck.

  • hey, rocks have feelings too!!

  • I've only recently come upon these plant experiments and I'm only seeing very old video. Are there any recent studies?

  • you do realise that most if not all of our modern "science" is built on work and experimentation that people like you would have discarded without a second glance hundreds / thousands of years ago, do not listen to everyone with a degree in the religion of science :)

  • @Semimaru science isn't a religion.........

  • @Dwaithy of course it is :-)

  • @Semimaru explain

  • @Dwaithy the scientific method isnt religious but one just has to look at how established scientific "facts" are dogmatically defended, the earth was flat and many were burnt at the stake for saying otherwise ;-)

  • @Semimaru Those were religious people doing the burning. Probably some kind of thou shalt not lie or some shit. Nothing about science instructs people to put people to death for going against a fact. Going against facts and theories is encouraged with science. Dogmatic people like religious people who want to control others, would abuse science yes. People who don't understand the basic principle of science. Stuff like that doesn't happen anymore anyway.

  • @Dwaithy To say it no longer happens is unfortunate because it means you dont see it happening :-( Just look into the work Rick Simpson is doing with cannabis oil and the work Ed Mcabe is doing with oxygen/ozone therapy. Just ask you doctor to show you studies that proove vacinations or chemotherapy is safe. Science is great but the suits at the top care only about money and the scientists sure aren't funding their own research.

  • @Semimaru That's irrelevant... I am just trying to get you to understand that science isn't a religion. You could say that pantheism is like a science religion, but it isn't really a religion lol

  • @Dwaithy I hope one day you break through the Dogma friend, it's well worth looking into the story of those guys, all the info is public domain.

  • @Semimaru What dogma? You are fucking stupid.

  • @Dwaithy No need to be insulting mate, I hope you remember this conversation when you renounce your god of science :-) I am not saying that science is useless, on the contrary it's an excellent method of understand our world and how it works. It is how science is applied that is the problem, much like any other religion.

  • @Semimaru Okay maybe you are necessarily "stupid" but you are delusional. It makes you come off as stupid.

  • @Semimaru I agree Everything these days is run for profit, as is science. We can't progress like this. If a university is now run not to educate minds, but to make money from the students, we have no hope in a meaningful future. There are many, many scenarios of scientific evidence being tossed aside because it did not work with conventional scientific literature, not due to the fact that the evidence was not strongly supported. Fluoride for example, added to water does not improve dental health

  • @Semimaru

Are you saying that plants CAN'T feel pain, if so you are not only a typically conceited self-righteous human but you are ignorant and foolish. If you're not saying that then... wtf ARE you saying?

  • @SerenityShootingStar Hi serenity I'm not sure how you thought I was saying that, I believe plants feel.

  • @Semimaru

Good on you then. Just wanted to clear that up.

  • @Semimaru

All science is based on observation, ancient and modern.

infact the ancient observed and experiment more than we do now.

We always wanna claim the credit but all the fields today are based on their early discoveries.

  • @estorpai I agree

  • Don't get me wrong. This is cool and interesting and all, but what exactly does it have to do with us. I mean, even if plants and things like yogurt have feelings, what does it really matter. We will still have to use them for food. I can just see this as an excuse for something like PETP (people for the ethicle treatment of plants) to pop Up. And if we cant eat animals cause they have feelings and we cant eat plants cause they have feeling too, what the hell are we supposed to eat?!!!

  • maybe scientists in the future will find a way for us not to eat and still grow, will prb manufacture chemicals to eat.

sucks the future human race can't eat pizza but maybe they ll have an electric signal or chemical they can consume to get the pleasure out of consuming real pizza

if i just conceived this, then it must be possible

  • Pizza...in a pill...

  • i was thinking more like an email msg, like in the future you could see a picture of pizza or any food and get the full sensation of eating it and being full, and entire pleasure just from a scientists developing a way to replicat all those chemical reactions artificially, but still seem real

  • They could hypnotize us to react pleasently as if we have eaten pizza whenever we press a certain button. We would, of course, be eating tiny capsules about the size of my thumbnail which would provide us with all of our nurishment...

  • it's not about the fact that we should feel sorry for plants etcetera. it's about knowing a little bit more about how things at a deeper level work. The fact that organisms respond to eachother (unconscious). this experiment can tell alot about who we are, and explain things such as clairvoyance.

people have feelings too, but that doesnt stop us humans from killing and torturing them right?

  • True dat. L.A is proof.

  • There were also experiments done with fruit trees and the tree actually reacts positively to a person enjoying and getting nourishment from the fruit. This is one of the reasons people become fruititarians.

  • Wow. You would probably think the tree would get pissed off or hurt cause the people were taking fruit from it. Nice trees.

  • Haha, they sure are.

  • The fruit is there specially to eat. Symbiosis is a companionship between two or more different species of mutual benefit and dependence. We not just live together but one cant live without the other, we are technically part of the same organism.

We don't have to kill things to eat. Meat actually isn't good for you at all while it consumes huge amounts of resources. People just tend to get stuck in old habits.

  • @gabydewilde - absolutely right. The fruit is intended to be consumed, and the seeds passed out in the eater's feces so that they are planted on the ground somewhere else, fertilizer included. Our modern plumbing and toilet technology actually defeats this process when we eat fruit.

Fortunately, I do feed apples to my horse, and he takes a lot of dumps along the neighborhood trails. 8-)

  • That's what the apple tree said to Adam lol

    "Enjoy your apple sir!"

  • hahaha. Yeah. Can you say, "IRONY"?!!!!

  • @dedicatedtoTL "what the hell are we supposed to eat?!!!"

for that very reason, I was under the impression that PETP was meant to be a satire attempt to the veganism.

  • Yeah lets get spock to present it, make it look real scientific.

  • "As The Secret Life of Plants describes in detail through several chapters, radionics practitioners totally proved as far back as 1952 that they could "treat" plant crops without actually spraying them, simply by broadcasting the waveform of the pesticide to a photograph(!) of the field itself."

this is ridiculous. why why why? how does this work?

  • its radionics,study up on psi and radionics,like psychokinesis/telekinesis

  • everything has it's own frequency. by using the frequency (information) of that pesticide, u practically give out the information of that pesticide. that is also how (cant find the word in english, but i guess you understand it if i use a bad translation) homeopathy works.

  • no way. incredible. this changes everything.

  • cool! i had no idea that plants were able to do such a thing!

  • Im not surprised att all..everything is alive and has feelings and thoiughts of its own.we cant just believe in what we see with our bare eyes..thats what i call blind.thats a living evidence that every scientist should see and admit so we can be able to learn more about our planet, instead of the moon and other dead planets.

  • Of course when he adds the milk he is changing the conductivity of the yoghurt..

  • You must have misunderstood. He didn't add the milk to the yogurt in the test tube that was hooked up to the machine. The milk was added to a completely different container separate from the machine. The sample in the test tube reacted even though it was not directly given the milk.

  • Polygraph machines usually measure blood pressure, heart rate, and the skin's conductivity in order to see changes in the state of the sympathetic nervous system.

However, plants do not have nervous systems, nor any measurable pulse or blood pressure, and the surface conductivity is incapable of rapid change.

So what exactly is this polygraph machine measuring?

  • oh my god he found the sensory of yoghurt you have to be kidding me this is massive on the scale of life

  • this shows everything is connected by something

  • Amazing

  • David Wilcock has spoken of Cleve Baxter recently. Baxter connected his polygraph to a plant, and decided to harm the plant in some way to get a reaction. Upon the very thought of burning the plant with a match, the polygraph went crazy.

Although we appear as separate beings, we are all one. It's time for organised science to finally acknowledge this.
