YOU guys have to listen to this song after you get baked. Is fucking amazeing , I listen to the song when im sober too but if you love it sober then listen to it while your baked. itsss soo good
@BlackPanteraSociety Essentially yes, but I think the king had a little more power than just being a puppet. he appointed cabinet ministers who carried out laws and decrees. and led the military.
Yeah in theory he was supreme, but usually the monarch appointed a capable Chancellor that took control of most political issues for him. For example like Hardenberg and Bismarck.
for example Friedrich II. von Preußen genannt der Große was all but a puppet - he was an absolut monarch par excellence, deciding about war and peace, about appointments, about state philosphoies and about the economy
of course, Friedrich der Große was one of the best European leaders of all time. I'm talking more about 19th Century Prussia, when Industrialisation and Capitalism really started emerging.
@BlackPanteraSociety the Kingdom of Prussia was an absolute monarchy with a monarch dictator, And frankly it was during those dictators that Europe bloomed up into the worlds supreme powers, It was Socialism that braught upon the dark ages of the early 20th century.
In theory, of course. But in practice, usually the Hohenzollern monarchs were so mentally unstable/unable to rule efficiently that they left most of their tasks in the hands of an able statesman, usually the Chancellor.
Most reforms that made Prussia/the German Empire the superpower we know were made by, not the King, but his ministers : such as Bismarck, Hardenberg, Humboldt etc
@BlackPanteraSociety They aren't alone, Socialists and Capitalists alike have had their fair share of nuts rulers, Take George W bush, there is a good example of Democracy gone wrong.
As a matter of fact, The nazi party in germay got power from democratic votings.
@BlackPanteraSociety Not in every case, The majority of Monarchs have in truth worked hard both for their own succsess and that of their nations, Once in awhile a band monarch followed but thats too be expected.
And its not like modern day presidents or Prime ministers do everything themselves either.
Actually it was, It won by majority, True enough the Nazi party refused too take part in national votes etc that they considered "un-german" but thats the folly of democracy
i remember to listen for the first time this march as part of the soundtrack of "Barry Lindon " When Barry Lindon was forced to join to Prussian army during the 7 Years war
While my Great Grandfather fought for Tzarist Russia, it is however a great source of annoyance, to have this song associated with a conflict (WW1) whose defeat was unfairly saddled upon the German People. Blame that should have been placed upon the the hoary Hapsburg government of Austria and the seething and vengeance driven French government of 1918. If that was the case then horrors of Hitler's Germany may never has been manifest.
@NordenHonor Monarchy is a political system. Capitalism and Socialism are both economic systems. In the Victorian Era, in which Prussia existed, Capitalism was largely used. Please learn the difference between a political and economic system.
yeah i know hitler was a bad man but i hate to hear the germans are bad at the second world war yeah many people was bad but not only in germany in all countrys in the world and when a bad people catch the power of a country so the bad people had the control so not the germans soldier was bad yeah maybe someone he fight only for his country bad power or good power
National Socialism to me is the best government ever devised but I agree with CarchariasMegalodon, if Adolf didn't execute the Jews he would have won and would have gained America and Britian as an ally against Russia.
Beautiful song! My great grandfather fought bravely for Germany and the Kaiser in WWI! Too bad Hitler forced my family to flee Germany for being Jewish, since my great grandfather loved Germany with all his heart and soul, and was an Iron Cross 1st class recipient too!
@Yhudination That's Hitler's wost idea in any thinking style, he lost many patriotic people (Like your great grandfather) and a lot of skilled scientists like Einstein and Oppenheimer.
@Yhudination greatest honor to your great grandfather! and its so sad that brave germans like him and his family had to flee because of he was jewish, so sad... in ww I and ww II we lost some of our best generations. keep your great grandfathers remembrance alive. he was one of our heros!
@Yhudination Many good Germans had to flee - those fates make me sad. Hitler forced the intelectual and cultural elite to leave even though those are the ppl running a country... And nowadays... just left and right and nothing in between.
My great grandfather was a Cavalryman for the Belgian army during wwI bad they nailed him on the ground with a machinegun. According to him,he killed 5 Germans. Proud of him
that was one of the big faults of the third reich. they persecuted and executed jewish soldiers who bravely and patrioticallly fought in ww1 for their own country...
@Yhudination at least somebody who shares my sort of german "pride" ... all that which Prussia stood for was destroyed by the little brown genitaldevourer with the funny beard =/
I truly wish I could have served Deustchland in WWI. I still have my great grandfather's Iron Cross, as well as his silver wound medal. I still wonder what Hitler thought of the German Jews who gave their lives for the fatherland, as many were killed in the brutal trench warfare.
Whilst I am glad that my country (Britain) won in the war I wish that the war had never happened, for Germany's sake, because the German Empire was a nation of which its people could justly be proud and an inspiration for much of the rest of Europe.
@Yhudination I cant understand it too, this people were germans as every other, but at last there were justice in 1945 but a too little satisfaction for the survivers,
@Yhudination wow now thats a hero iron cross 1st class my great grandfather also got it and later migrated to colombia right after the war because the fatherland was a mess after the war
@Yhudination wow now thats a hero iron cross 1st class my great grandfather also got it and later migrated to colombia right after the war because the fatherland was a mess after the war
This is also my favourite march. During my military service, I wanted to serve in the German tank battalion, that keeps the tradition of the Ansbach-Bayreuth dragoons. Unfortunately, I was too tall for a tank battalion and they put me to the parachuters who have no glorious Prussian tradition at all. :(
@BoeserBiber They haven't but try to cheer up by thinking that the parachuters are elite infantry group. They are something like the prussian watch guard, which was very glorious unit.

Yes I'm very excited in Prussian military history. This charge is considered as both the finest and darest attack, of the Prussian cavalry.
The legend says also, that Frederick himself saluted, when the dragoons entered their encampment. Historicly documented is, that he gave the regiment the permission to play both the marches of the cavalry, as dragoons were considered infantry at this time.
It is said, that Frederick wrote this tune after the battle at Hohenfriedberg. He referred the march to the dragoon regiment Bayreuth, which - although outnumbered by 1 to 4 - charged against 20 Austrian battalions. The cavarly attack was so devastating, that the Austrians were put to flight in disarray and their whole frontline collapsed.
100 years after the battle, when the dragoons were known as "Ansbach-Bayreuth", the lyrics were added to this march. You can find the first verse on YouTube.
@BoeserBiber I am sorry, little historical fail in my memory. But thank You, my knowledge about the battle of Hohenfriedberg was very little. That is very interesting, how the prussian cavalry succeeded so well in their attack. Even in those days it was quite dangerous and risky work, even if the opponent didn't have so huge outnumber numbers. That march is great sign of respect to these dragoon regiments.
this music always gives me chills and a warm feeling around my chest.

Amen to that!
And coming from a Russian this really says something.
What has remained after the horrors of WW2 in Germany is also a great amount of respect for the Russian nation and their brave and tough soldiers.
They learned the same lesson Napoleon and Charles the Xth of Sweden had to learn;
do NOT fight the Russians on their own ground.
