Fun fact - Eddard's hair here is a little different from his normal hairdo in the pilot, because this was in fact filmed as part of the unaired ORIGINAL pilot, that had different actors in a few of the roles....
@s5b678 no it's true. Ned's always been a soldier but rarely (if ever) do people commend him for his skill with the sword. Closest thing to it was when he survived Arthur Dayne but only because Howland Reed saved him.
I think he's a much better commander/strategist though
@Xyntech06 I think they changed it for this show: Ser Barristan said that Ned had a fearsome reputation as a fighter (not just a leader), and the Ned/Jaime fight had Ned lasting longer than most other swordsmen would.
Nah, you're totally right. Ned's a good soldier, a good lord, an ideal vassal, etc. Jaime has no particular desire for political responsibility, and he's a rash hothead, but (or because) he's one of those prodigies at combat born once or twice a generation.
@Arkantos117 When Sean Bean speaks in a low voice it´s not easy to understand him unless english is your mother lenguage or you have been living in an english speaking country for a while.
They've met long before this. They have a distaste for one another because when Robert won the crown Jaime had killed the previous king and was sitting on the throne "keeping it warm" for Robert and Ned made him move.
Aaah, the voice....the voice of Ned Stark...well said

If Jaime's guard hadn't speared Ned through the leg, he totally would have fucked the Kingslayer up!

Honestly, as much as I like Ned, Jamie would have wasted him in a competition at arms. Go ahead and hate...

Awesome line from Ned.

As Ser Jorah has shown, its not always the better fighter, but the smarter one who wins the battle.

This would been so much better if they'd made out. BUT NOW NED IS DEAAAAAAAD AND JAIME WILL NEVER GET THAT CHANCE!
Oh well. I guess he'll have to stick with making out with Raff the Sweetling instead.

Ned is the shit. Even ass draw when he fought the GREAT Jamie kingslayer.
