This isn't my favorite Kanye song (that'd be "Celebration" or "Late"), but every time I hear it I always feel like it's the song that best represents him. So in that sense, it may be his best actual song.
I rock with all of Kanye's albums from "The College Dropout" to "808s & Heartbreak" to "Watch the Throne". And btw, stop sayin' you miss the "old Kanye" nothing stays the same forever, Kanye is Kanye.
@overbyjames yep kanye as alwayz been kanye, he alwayz has loved all music, people that really know his career know that shit......i think watch the throne his some of his worst work though but better than alot of bullshit
4.808's-classic, i know what niggas are going to say but to me this NOT a hip hop album, really a experimental album, it really has this dark, sad feeling to it you can tell he was crushed by his moms death
5.Graduation-4.5, i couldnt stand drunk and hot girl(only terrible kanye song in my opinion )i like the old homecoming, and not the biggest fan of big brother
@mont140 well wateva thats how i feel, dont tell me something thats my opinion and what MANY people are saying and i swear i said 808's and MBDTF were classics, so why u say his last three werent classic??? i didnt say graduation and Watch The Throne were, and i can can see why niggas that listen to 808s dont like it thats understandable, but MBDTF was amazing
I downloaded Kanye's first mixtape a couple months ago, & I have been replaying that shit like crazy. I am in love with his music. He has such a way with words, and he speaks with such emotion, like it inspires me and his music has got me through some hard times. I love Kanye, no matter what I'll always be a fan, even if he be coming out with that shit with Katy Perry on the radio nowadays.
if ONLY kanye stuck to this kind of mentalilty when writing songs nowadays. he might have actually been one of the greatest hip hop artists ever....but..... i think he blew it
@spicmanz You can't be serious......how can you not like his new album? It was just made so well from the lyrics, down to the production. I don't think i've ever seen the Rolling Stone give 5 stars to any album by any artist before...until Kanye's newest album dropped
@zdcfvgybh rolling stones doesnt recognize hip hop though, only when its gigantically mainstream. and ya of course they gave 5 stars out before.
my whole thing is that once upon a time kanye west was a great rapper. no body could possibly make the argument that his stuff now lyrically compares to his stuff off his first 2 albums.
production wise, yes its a great album, lyrically hes repetitive and corny, only songs i really like on that album are ones that feature other artists b/c of them.
@spicmanz Dark Fantasy, Blame Game, Monster, Power, Hell of a Life, Gorgeous, All of the Lights...those are probably the songs i listen to most.....You have to like this album better than 808's at least right? Dark Fantasy is probably my favorite song on the album, wbu?
@zdcfvgybh the only one i can say i like enough is "so appalled" and yea blame game.
and i dont kno its hard to compare those 2 albums they were in complete different notes, but i did like 808 better, only because i barely enjoyed this one.
dont get me wrong kanye is an amazing producer, but he use to be an amazing rapper too, its not uncommon for that to happen, he was rapping to make it back then but now he doesnt have that pressure anymore so hes doing this.
Kanye is a great producer, there is no going around that. His old shit (like this ) and his new shit are all great and he is always one step ahead of his time.
But in lyricism and rapping skills he is nowhere near the legends. I'm not gonna shout out names to prove im right, this is a fact! He's rapping about cars, ho's, jewellery and money, without any deeper meaning in his songs. This is what the younger generations needs and what sells more records, but it doesnt make him a better rapper!
@fulop1000 Roses, Hey Mama, Heard 'Em Say, Big Brother, Lost In The World, Family Business. Im gettin a vibe that you never took the time to listen to any of these. Sooo you enlighten yourself with those for starters and ill give you some more later
@UnderDogFourSix Of course I've heard all of those. Matter of fact you just listed my favourite songs by him. I would also add Throught the wire, my way, homecomin'. But, for me these songs are great because of their beat and yes he does have some songs with deeper meaning, but in syncopation, rhytm or even just the ambiguity of his words he's beyond the great ones. You know what, with time he could grow to be one of the "classics", but he's definitely not there yet.
@fulop1000 you have to think about it though man first kanye DOES talk about deeper subjects, second hes taking the old Rakim approach, its not like biggie pac etc didnt talk about girls money and cars too but they all do it to get your attention and drop knowledge on the way through songs you feel me? that was rakims approach thats why him and eric b had all the money and gold and gucci on their cover AND songs but then theyd talk about how they used to rob but theyre better men now
@ShookOnesTO Oh you're one of those smart-dumb ass cats. I know what the hell slang for blow is. I've probably known what it has meant before you were born. If you knew anything about lyrics, you would know that "Ye" is short for Kanye. And for your mutha f!@#in' information he did this mix tape right around the time when he got signed to Rocafella. Therefore it was a play on words "The Roc got Ye but they ain't snortin' it." So basically, what I'm trying to tell you is...Shut yo punk ass up!
The melodies of this song is just like one of Thai traditional song named 'Kang Kao Gin Gleuy (ค้างคาวกินกล้วย). Maybe this song was inspired by Thai music??
@jkl9093 I love Lupe, but no one can argue who the best rapper is. If it wasn't for Kanye going on tour with him, he would've never blew up as quick as he did. I respect them both and they're both great artist. Period. KANYE FOR PRESIDENT!
@Donarudo88 kanye a better rapper then lupe..don't get me wrong kanye could spit and is in my top 10 favorite rappers...but him better then lupe yea okay..1st off lupe had a better verse then him on touch the sky...lupe version of jesus walk and diamonds are better then Kanye.. 3rd every song lupe has been on with kanye.. lupe had the better verse... not only that jay-z has said lupe is one of the greatest writer of are time ,and kanye himself even said lupe is a legend in Chicago.
@800mEric lupe is not weak and lyrically he's better than kanye but kanye makes better music. Better beats, more emotion in his shit, and lupe is a pussy. The nigga uses a dictionary to sound smart when he spits. he tries to sound smart just so people will think he's raw but he's a lame and he's not even afrocentric so he's deep for no reason. I'd rob lupe plus he's a snake and hasn't done anything for the chi... he should keep his bitch ass in japan
@kokanerap0r hahahaha who the fuck is lupe...expand your horizons to some real music other than maintstream bro. not sayin i dont listen to mianstream, but dont forget bout the little guy, ever heard of sweatshop union? true music and good shit
@steveplumpton if u knew anything u would know Lupe was a lyrical underground legendary rapper that released 3 classic mix-tapes....now he released 2 highly acclaimed Grammy nominated albums..and he had one if not the best song in 2006 with hurt me soul...and Lupe music is nothing but true and meaningful..so don't be so quick to judge an artist have never heard about..
@800mEric your so stupid buddy... learn to follow a conversation... if you could see what i meant, not misinterpret and not be SO QUICK TO JUDGE you would see i was mocking someone who had previously said "who the fuck is lupe" i completely agree with you and im saying lupe IS underground, real music. But seriously get off lupes dick buddy, hes good but if there was no lupe fiasco, hip hop would not be that much different if at all, people who made a difference are kool g rap, Mr Ren,Jam Masta
@steveplumpton sure yeah im stupid idk care if lupe hasn't made so much of a great big different like these hip-hop pioneers... if he was back in their time with lyricism he would....and eminem gtfo here with him...and wtf does me having to be younger then 22 have to do with my knowledge of hip-hop...i listen to 90s hip-hop along with hip-hop from the 80s..i grew up on hip-hop..so don't try to play that asinine foolish card on me...but yeah i get what your saying with the lebron comment..
@800mEric i said anyone younger than 22, because obviously i dont know how old you are but you said it right there. just a lucky guess perhaps. But theres a reason our grandparents didnt listen to rock and our parents didnt rap. Because whether it is known by ones self or not everyone is prejudice to the music of their generation becuase as you said you grew up with rap
@800mEric but even more than that you grew up with new age rappers But you didnt grow up with kool g rap and mc ren and jam masta and henceforth have been forgotten by you and most ppl of younger age( i noticed you didnt care to comment on them) and are not in their top tens. Eminems new album is his best yet too and as for the lyrics their sick "ketchup squirter squirted a frank furter" one of his lines, guaranteed you dont get it, its so g.
@steveplumpton doesn't mean he's great..im not saying he's a bad producer ...he's amazing at that but rapping not so much....but do i have to post up big daddy kane, grand master flash,or even kool g rap to prove to u i have hip-hop knowledge..smh... makes no sense it doesn't lessen my musical taste it's just what i prefer. ..and f.y.i i listen to kool g rap and big daddy kane and scareface both from wu tang and south..i listen to a lot of guys..but those the artist that i like alot..
@800mEric as for Dre for me forget the rap politics b.s. it does nothing to help you judge good music its honestly just the music that its all about in the end. But rumours (some fact of course) aside hes produced legends, been apart of legends , always made sick music and has a carreer in hip-hop older than both me and you. But you said it best its your opinion. Thats all just food for thought.
@800mEric 1/2 Pun, Big L, Pac and Biggie, Eazy, Dre, NaS, Pimp C..holy shit theres mroe than 10 right there. Maybe you should get your list straight. anyone 22 and younger guaranteed doesnt agree with me, but thats cuz their prejudice to music of their generation. Fuck even eminem, DMX, and NaS have done more for rap than him. Dont get me wrong i love lupe and kanye, their progressing rap in a good direction. But im sorry Lebron James didnt invent the dunk . if you get what im saying.
@steveplumpton and big l is overrated..he just a good rapper that died and became over-hyped....and dre wtf he has ghostwriters...and eminem he not that good or great..he could spit and yeah i listen to his old stuff but he not that mind blowing..... and im not being prejudice to music..i listen to music of all time era's..but at the end of the day it's my opinion
@smuggler14 no way... this sample has soul... franks didnt have that "ive traveled eeeeeaaaaaAAAACH... n every highway.." someone redid it. and i wanna find out who. i need that original.
@sashqa712 no its a sample from some classic record its not chrisette michelle this song was made so long ago im sure she wasnt known when Kanye made dis. SOuth side waz good
in my opinion, kanye west is one of the best to ever live, Big L is ahead of him though but kanye is right behind him, his music has so much soul and feeling to it
Hey people wats up??? Plz check out my stuff n comment, message me, or watever n tell me wat u think. N if u like it subscribe or add me as a friend :)

800mEric 1 year ago
@800mEric lupe is not weak and lyrically he's better than kanye but kanye makes better music. Better beats, more emotion in his shit, and lupe is a pussy. The nigga uses a dictionary to sound smart when he spits. he tries to sound smart just so people will think he's raw but he's a lame and he's not even afrocentric so he's deep for no reason. I'd rob lupe plus he's a snake and hasn't done anything for the chi... he should keep his bitch ass in japan
dudemynameis 1 year ago
@Donarudo88 and i agree kanye had a big role but your forgetting lupe had a big following from his mixtapes and from the jay-z co-sign.

@kokanerap0r Lupe fiasco is really famous actually haha I like him.
sockpoppy 1 year ago
@kokanerap0r hahahaha who the fuck is lupe...expand your horizons to some real music other than maintstream bro. not sayin i dont listen to mianstream, but dont forget bout the little guy, ever heard of sweatshop union? true music and good shit
steveplumpton 1 year ago
@steveplumpton if u knew anything u would know Lupe was a lyrical underground legendary rapper that released 3 classic mix-tapes....now he released 2 highly acclaimed Grammy nominated albums..and he had one if not the best song in 2006 with hurt me soul...and Lupe music is nothing but true and meaningful..so don't be so quick to judge an artist have never heard about..
800mEric 1 year ago
@800mEric your so stupid buddy... learn to follow a conversation... if you could see what i meant, not misinterpret and not be SO QUICK TO JUDGE you would see i was mocking someone who had previously said "who the fuck is lupe" i completely agree with you and im saying lupe IS underground, real music. But seriously get off lupes dick buddy, hes good but if there was no lupe fiasco, hip hop would not be that much different if at all, people who made a difference are kool g rap, Mr Ren,Jam Masta
steveplumpton 1 year ago
@steveplumpton sure yeah im stupid idk care if lupe hasn't made so much of a great big different like these hip-hop pioneers... if he was back in their time with lyricism he would....and eminem gtfo here with him...and wtf does me having to be younger then 22 have to do with my knowledge of hip-hop...i listen to 90s hip-hop along with hip-hop from the 80s..i grew up on hip-hop..so don't try to play that asinine foolish card on me...but yeah i get what your saying with the lebron comment..
800mEric 1 year ago
@800mEric i said anyone younger than 22, because obviously i dont know how old you are but you said it right there. just a lucky guess perhaps. But theres a reason our grandparents didnt listen to rock and our parents didnt rap. Because whether it is known by ones self or not everyone is prejudice to the music of their generation becuase as you said you grew up with rap
steveplumpton 1 year ago

800mEric 1 year ago
@800mEric as for Dre for me forget the rap politics b.s. it does nothing to help you judge good music its honestly just the music that its all about in the end. But rumours (some fact of course) aside hes produced legends, been apart of legends , always made sick music and has a carreer in hip-hop older than both me and you. But you said it best its your opinion. Thats all just food for thought.
steveplumpton 1 year ago
@steveplumpton yeah he's a legend in regards to production.
800mEric 1 year ago
@800mEric 1/2 Pun, Big L, Pac and Biggie, Eazy, Dre, NaS, Pimp C..holy shit theres mroe than 10 right there. Maybe you should get your list straight. anyone 22 and younger guaranteed doesnt agree with me, but thats cuz their prejudice to music of their generation. Fuck even eminem, DMX, and NaS have done more for rap than him. Dont get me wrong i love lupe and kanye, their progressing rap in a good direction. But im sorry Lebron James didnt invent the dunk . if you get what im saying.
steveplumpton 1 year ago
@steveplumpton and big l is overrated..he just a good rapper that died and became over-hyped....and dre wtf he has ghostwriters...and eminem he not that good or great..he could spit and yeah i listen to his old stuff but he not that mind blowing..... and im not being prejudice to music..i listen to music of all time era's..but at the end of the day it's my opinion
