There's nothing wrong with your hearing people, the problem the audio has is that it's out of phase, meaning one of the channels (left or right) is out of phase with the other, and when you listen through a set of speakers, some frequencies cancel each other put and some of them add up. It isn't as noticeable with headphones, but it still sounds weird. If you have a mixer, you just have to flip the phase on one of the two channels.

The L & R audio tracks are out of phase. In HQ mode the stereo sounds fucked up .This explains why there is hardly any sound in "standard" quality (because in mono the two channels cancel each other out).
