Even a kid who grew up on rock'n'roll like myself can appreciate this, two classic singers who did what they did better than anyone. This is fun to watch because Bing Crosby was Andy's idol--Andy and his brothers sang with Bing on his 1944 hit, "Swingin' on a Star", when Andy was about 16, and it helped launch the movie/nightclub career of The Williams Brothers. Andy's talked a lot about what a thrill it was to sing with Bing on his own show.
Seeing Andy Wiiliams & Bing Crosby together are very memorable. I'd rather wish for the glory days of better TV and none of that vile stuff that we are expose to for example. Jersey Shore, Glee,The Cleveland Show, & Teen Mom among others. And for those who hate foul mouthed individuals ( Excluding me) there's always Gordon Ramsay.
There's plenty of good singers singing good songs today. They just don't make it to major networks, you have to get off your duff and find them yourselves ! If you want better music, get out and support it ! Sitting and whining never solves anything.
@68aries You’re smoking something buddy, music sucks today!!!!!!! They cater to what the people are listening and purchasing. The parents of this new generation have failed their children. A fact and if you choose not to see it, oh well.
You can’t touch music like this today.... these cats are way too classy and clean!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!
Love this - although Andy's vocals I find give me a warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I hear him sing - sigh - the classics - and I was born in 1980 - talk about totally NOT from that era - love good singing when I hear it :)
Der Bingle!! The CEO of "Proto-cool"! Hey even Frank Sinatra took his cues from Bing who was the hipster crooner that everyone looked up to in the 30s and 40s, not to mention the Andrews sisters who backed him up. . He set the tone for many a song stylist for the next 60 years. Bing is long gone but will never be forgotten! at least Andy is still with us...
The problem with the singers today..........none of them are considered so special that we care to listen to them......we have so many other things to do.
American Idol reveals that we still have singers. The difference today is that people that can actually sing are not Big Stars today. What you see in these old clips of what was "early" television........were wonderful perfomances by Huge Worldwide Stars............they came right into our living room and hung with us. Andy's guests were WHOEVER was a hugely popular personality.....singers, actors, comedienes.......the only common denomanator was that they were HUGE STARS OF THE MOMENT.
I'm not all that old (41) but I know real TALENT and singing when I hear it. Music in general has really gone down hill. What passes for talent today wouldn't have a chance with real SINGERS like Crosby and Williams around. Britany Spears comes to mind! What good is hi definition video and sound without someone with REAL talent. I think there are people with real talent today unfortunately there all crowded out by mediocre "talent".
They make it so easy and smooth. Bing is as easygoing as ever and I really enjoy those low notes while Andy provides the great tenor line. It's a shame we don't have talent like this nowadays!
Matt3740 there is we just haven't found them yet if we look hard their there, people are just afraid these days to go out there and perform and your kinda of right they'll probably not get as big as Andy Williams or Bing Crosby cause its a whole new kind of music like hip hop and rap but yea there are people with talent just as good as these guys we just have to look.
To bad we don't have professional singers that can perform like this anymore. It seems back then in the 30's,40's,50's,60's, and 70's we had real talent in the entertainment industry( movies, tv shows, music, and comedy). Now everything is dumbed down and second rate garbage. Must be a reflection of our sad pathetic society.
@KaraLarson26 seems like a reflection of how masculinity is linked to material wealth. cause that's all males think to sing about mostly. add to that the increasing androgyny that makes males sing almost exclusively higher songs, the manly nature of these olden times is lost. . . sad
@KaraLarson26 I agree 100%. Even though some of the stuff today is okay, it doesn't compare with anything from back then. Back then it was all pure and real.. Now we've got people who use sound studios, and lip-sync on tours. Why can't we go back in time, and be able to sit down and watch variety shows, and see people like Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Ed Sullivan, Jack Benny, and many others who, as long as modern stuff doesn't take over, will hopefully live on forever
@KaraLarson26 Just enjoy your music please without deriding those who have different tastes, experiences, and expectations for their music. "Dumbed down?" If you are implying this is an intellectual song, I think you are mistaken. Hybridity and deconstructiveness is the bright and beautiful key to music today. Go 'way Wonder Bread society!
@KaraLarson26 That is so true. Not to mention the way they dress. In the 1960's they dressed even better on TV. I like that sweater that Andy Williams was wearing. What kind of sweater is that because I would love to have one like that for my sprt jacket.

These guys were totally the studs of their day...I mean look at Bing. He was bangin chicks 30 years younger than him - he was probably older than most of their dads! Well...I guess money, fame, and a great voice will do that for ya! At least Andy kept his act together...his wife was only 15 years younger. I'm 28 now, and I cant even begin to say how weird it is to think of marrying some girl that won't even be born for another 2 years. That's just kinda strange!
Wow and all I can see and hear are two great guys singing a great tune. Why can't we just appreciate the good things in life. Thank God you are able to see and hear.

Listen , don't spoil what the vast majority of people who are old enough to remember when our society wasn't so warped look back on favorably. Nobody is talking about the 1860s or early 1900s; this period of time wasn't all that long ago.
So the advancements that you believe exist today, do they include record numbers of unplanned pregnancies, high school dropouts and the destruction of many urban areas because of crime and drugs?

Listen, our society has been 'warped' since we slaughtered the Native Americans and killed them with our filthy European diseases. Our grandiloquent history is built on forced enslavement of blacks and exploitation of Chinese laborers. And imperialism. But wave your fucking flag in Quincy all you want.
Don't have TV shows like this anymore, that's a shame. You can see how they enjoyed there work...
