Police need to do MUCH better screening. I've read a few stories, there are some normal cops in there that knew this was wrong, and then there were the heartless cops that laughed and well treated people like shit. I'm NOT saying that cops are heartless/bad people, I'm saying that awful people should NOT be officers/cops etc. But that's something that's obviously corrupt, not only in Toronto but everywhere...

Im fairly certain that after being arrested FOR NOTHING and thrown in a horrendously overcrowded cage for over a day, having a gay person (identified or not) is the least of their worries. as much as it may sound terrible, we can never truly believe how valid his words are. Maybe he was one of the annoying protestors but didnt mention it in the interview (who would!?) and therefore cops treated him badly.Maybe the police were assholes in the cell and he just stretched the truth as he wanted to get back at the cops. Just don't believe everything you hear especially if its straight from the source as there always tends to be bias-ism.

@junjoo123 I am the journalist who interviewed Dan. I also interviewed several other people who hadn't spoken to each other, and their stories lined up. I do my homework -- and I don't feel there was any exaggeration in this story whatsoever.

I know this was in Ontario, but the cops here in Quebec are pretty awful too. Instead of spending time trying to separate from Canada, why don't our government and all other provincial governments concentrate on issues concerning human rights since it's far more important ?
