  • all this debate for RS4/caymanS....let's say 987.2 caymanS vs B7RS4 is a drivers race. the power is upped in the second gen cayman and the handling is godly.

  • You know that the RS4 wasn't going full at it right?

Because your miserable 200 and whatever horsepower engine cant kepe up with a high revving 420 horsepower V8.

  • Where you there?? After words Jessica told me she was driving flat out.

Yes my Cayman has less HP.

We all are just out there to have fun.

Check out the other videos from the day and you can see a lots of cars with more HP that the RS4 getting passed.

On the track its not just how many HP you have. There are corners, ya know. That is where the Cayman makes up ground.

  • doesnt matter. at all. Because around the turns an RS4 EASILY does the skidpad and slalom faster than a cayman s.

not to mention the length it gains on straight aways. Sorry, the RS4 is faster around the track. the RS4 according to Road and Track wasn't much slower than the NEW carrera 4s around the track.

  • Who did your skidpad comparisons??

Actually the CaymanS out corners any Porsche even including the GT3 and C4S. In Motor Trend's testing the Cayman had highest cornering grip in the skidpad of all cars they tested.

On the track a well set up RS4 is really good. About an even match for the CaymanS. But it has to make up lost ground in the straights.

  • the cayman S in question has hoosier slick tires, GT3 suspension bits as well as brakes...and it weighs about 1000lbs less than the RS4. jonasd99 is a really fast driver and his CS is WAY faster around the track than a stock cayman. this is a rhythm and handling track and the cayman is just a better platform for 30 minute lapping sessions than an RS4.

  • Interesting: I was on a track for a couple days with a cayman S and my S4, nd i had the cayman in teh corners, and in the straights he barely pulled from me. however tehre was a guy out there in an RS4 and he was beating us both on the straights and corners. I have to say maybe this driver was not the best? Cayman is 2976lbs/295hp = 10.01 RS4 is 3957lbs/420hp = 9.42 If those are the only factors involved. Add AWD though, this is why my S4 could keep up with the cayman, and the RS4 pulled away.

  • The RS4 driver was an instructor with 10 years of experience. I know that you realize that HP only counts in the straights and uphill corners.

  • well, that would qualify for occasionally, now wouldn't it ;)

  • well only by default as I wouldn't want to track the gt3RS in the rain.

  • Looks great, would like to see the full track, though. Good Stuff.

  • Not sure what you mean. That was a complete lap on the MSR 1.7 CCW.

Keep an eye out for the timing line maker cones on the left of the screen at the start and the end of the video.

  • sorry, meant to say full, as in 3.1. Where you the black S with Fikse Profil 10 and Hoosiers?

  • Gotcha. 3.1 would be fun. I ran the 1.3 Saturday too. But by its self, its too much like a roller coaster no place to unwind.

That was me in the Black Cayman S. Those were the Fikse FM-10. I was not on the sticker Hoosiers. I am running on the discontinued Rolex LeMans GT60 tires.

    Which car were you in?

  • was visiting some friends, wasn't driving yesterday, I've driven several cars there... your car is nice... did you have vid from Sunday?

  • yes, click on my user name and go to the "MSR 2-2-08 and Drivers Edge" playlist. Half of the video is from Sunday.

  • thanks.

  • Glenn, rood driving. While I was watching yesterday, did hear your tires chirp going into Rattlesnake. Is that common in your car? Nice roll on of powwe coming out of the corners, however, hearing a bit of the push on the tires a well.

Can't wait to join you out there again.

  • as an rs4 owner myself- I can say it sounds amazing but wouldn't personally track it

  • why wouldn't you track it, it was clearly meant to do so, if only occasionally.

  • because I have a gt3rs and a 993TT. the rs4 is my SUV basically, and it's at least 300KG heavier than my other cars...which I can drive straight there and home without changing pads or tires. although I would really like to test the quattro system in the rain at MSR one of these days...
