  • thanx for uploading....may god bless us!!

  • I am speechless! I can listen to this over and over again and love it more each time!

  • How can someone dislike this?

To all here discriminating western and carnatic, here's my take.

You don't need to understand a language(or lyrics) to enjoy music.

Just try to understand their devotion whether be it divine, life, death or whtatever thing. If Chopin can compose Noctunes,Sri Tyagaraja can compose kritis,Eminem can compose his raps, its all about their devotion towards them.Nothing else, really!

  • blessed is India for giving birth to this Saraswathi,Saraswathi,Saraswathi.

Ahaaa.God bless the poster and fulfill all his wishes.

  • I am taken to another world with this song!!please bring me down to earth!!!

  • Simply Stunning!

  • Oops, my mistake I clicked the dislike button!

    I really love this though.

I clicked the like button again!

  • @luv2procratinate

The attention is always on the main artist who direct the performance. However the subtleties are in the Raagas and should be appreciated thus.

  • @luv2procrastinate

The Western classical music has developed profoundly as an orchestra. Various musical instrument are played in harmony to the composition. In a symphony they perform in grander proportions. It is a group effort and accomplished in unison. Although the conductor takes centre stage, the accolades goes to the musical assemblage as a whole. There are refined things like counterpoint and we should appreciate it.

  • Best Kriti ever heard..

  • @shashasheshay Western Music isn't bad! Maybe Caranatic Music is better than Western Music, but I wouldn't really call western music an 'abomination'... After all, Western Music included not only modern day songs, but classical pieces by artists like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach e.t.c.

  • Through her melodious voice and finesse of expertise she takes you to the ultimate goal of that ONENESS.

  • Unbelievably enchanting!!!!

Heard many versions of Viribhoni but this definitely has to be the fastest of them all!

  • @melodynbeats you should listen to the one by chembai and yesudas

  • @kalyansury Why? Chembai pronunciation of the words at places is abysmal.

  • ayyo besh, bale...Awesome varnam by MS Amma

  • Thank you so much, telugufilms. Is there some way I can easily find her earliest recordings. Are there any videos on YouTube of her earliest gifts to the world; I don't want to trouble you; I just want to know if there's another way besides going to each video posted.

  • you can never hear without a tear

  • Why tears?! I enjoyed without shedding tears. It is not horrible to shed tears!

  • Superb

  • so fast!! No match

  • Wonderful post.. Thank You.

Her voice is light a freight train in speed during the third speed. No one compares to MS!

  • I think it is T.K Murthy like an earlier poster.

Regarding the music its divine. Love this varnam

  • Must be Palghat T.S.Mani Iyer on miruthangham! Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

  • T.K.Murthy on the Mridangam

  • mani iyer has never played for female artists except dkp

  • He had also played for MSS in a private music concert

  • Crazy! Was he anti-feminist? If not why you are refering that here?

  • @balamss mani aiyar has played for MS in a private concert, where Chembai accompanied on the violin. MS herself has said so in an interview. He also played for MLV in his later years when both of them were at Rishi Valley School. This recording has the Great TK Murthy on mridangam, V Nagarajan on the kanjira and TH Vinayakaram on the ghatam

  • thanks for letting me know that

  • ms amma ku shatakoti vandanalu....

  • Divine Voice. Excellent rendition (which one of her's is not?!!)

  • This is beautiful!

  • love this

  • what a heavenly rendition by the great MS AMMA...she is really sangeeta saraswathi...........

  • great song. mind blowing

  • Great composition by 'Tana Varna Margadarsi' Pachchimiriyam Adiyappayya (guru of Shyama Shastry).

    Justice well done by MS!

  • Excellent singing and excellent violin support. Honoured that it is my grand uncle T.K Murthy at the mridangam!

  • Lovely lovely rendition....

  • Who is the violinist?

  • Vocal Support - Radha Viswanathan

    Violin - V V Subramaniam

    Mridangam - T K Murthy

    Kanjira - V Nagarajan

    Ghatam - Vikku Vinayakram

  • What an excellent Violin support - I think by V V Subramanyam, still maintaining the melody.

    "Endaro Mahanubhavulu"

  • What an excellent rendition! Every Carnatic music rasika should listen to this!

  • A masterpiece. Every student of Carnatic music student must listen to this record. A ton of concepts can be learnt in just 7min. I've heard that the legendary SSI would himself refer folks to MS to learn about the swara shuddhathi aspect.

  • Superb .Thank you. can you please post Amma's Sama satry Swara Jati "Amba Kamakshi" in Raga Bairavi if you have. It was superb. Thanks once again.

  • this is too good. i enjoyed the fast speed

  • what is meant by 'third speed'?

  • Not quite sure what that means. She sings the pallavi and anupallavi in the first speed and its double speed (first and second kaalam).

She then sings the charanam and the following swaras at a speed slightly higher than the starting speed and also at double this new speed.

  • thanks!

  • Varnams are sung in 1st speed and 2nd speed. This Viriboni by MS in first speed is quite fast by normal standards. After singing 1st portion swaras in first and second speeds, she begins the Charanam "Chiru Nou " in a slightly faster speed , say 1.5 speed. When she sings in twice the speed , it becomes 1.5 x 2 = 3 speed. (3rd speed).

In reality there is only 1st speed , 2nd speed in varnams. (After 2nd you have 4th, but technically you will have to take 1st speed very slow to achieve 4th speed)

  • thanks a lot VISWANAS!

  • Yes, the charanam is often sung at 1.5 speed. But in this case it seems a bit slower than 1.5. She has indeed sung the varnam fast by normal standards. By the way, there's a very nice record of the three violin brothers L Vaidyanathan, Subramaniam and Shankar playing this varnam at maybe four speeds, each time increasing by 1.5 times, accompanied by Palghat Mani Iyer. Very impressive.

  • You are right RRA.

But 4th speed is however possible in instrumental , especially violin. This is not to take credit away from the violin trio, who were outstanding in their times.

  • That's true. I wasn't making a comparison there; just an aside remark. I love listening to this, and wish I could sing even a little bit.

  • my goodness what was that i couldnt believe that

will u believe that i left my seat at 2:55

couldnt hear, came back only to feel i was still crying

  • We are nothing to comment on BharataRatna MSS. Bhairavi - Ata tala varnam is one of my favorates and I am speachless, awesome. Keep up good work..

  • Thank you so much for uploadin this. I simply love Amma's Viribo in all three speeds. Even her swara jati in bairavi "Amba kamakshi " is so out of the world.

  • I have her 5 disc set Golden Collection and Viriboni is on it but somehow I prefer this version. The variations are mind boggling. True story: when I first heard this (especially at 2:00) some years ago, I thought something was wrong with the audio not believing it was her voice! The Immortal MS Amma!

  • My favorite Varnam of all times by my favorite singer.

  • Priceless. What a flood of emotion! Feel so grateful! Mukundan

  • this woman melts my heart. she will live on forever with her voice.

  • Thank you very much! Please keep it going!

  • Divine voice ! . Thanks for posting

  • brings out goose pimples each time i hear this, such is her power!!!

  • made me cry ..... well then who wouldn't listening to MS .... i can't thank you enough for posting this :)

  • perfect perfection!!!

  • a priceless lesson in virtuosity

  • thanks a million for posting this! I love you, amma!

  • I was in ecstasy throughout the rendition..speechless..

  • marvellous !!!!!!!!!!!!
