I use 22 guage 300v multistrand, The current draw is very low. 22 is actuallly overkill. I've used 24 and 26 on occasion. Definitely use multi strand.
Impossible to know for sure, but I'd imagine reputable manufacturers ie: antec, thermaltake, silenx, late loon, scythe etc. would. Need to butcher some old fans lol
Pulse Width Modulation. Fan speed is controlled not by a resistor (heat generating, not as efficient), but by a circuit that alternates voltage nearly on, and nearly off at strategic times. The result is fan speed control. PWM fans have more than 2 wires. The downside is possible electronic noise.
The rpm wire allows certain controllers to work that otherwise don't "see" the fan without the wire. Same goes for a cpu fan on a motherboard. Needs that rpm wire or the motherboard thinks there's no fan. The answer to your question is you can use applications to control the fans once they have an rpm wire.
It's a "2 in one". I can't recall the brand. Made in Korea. If you Google Images and type "2 in one wire strippers", you'll get a bunch of results. I got mine from Active Electronics.
I found this from google while searching for how to add an RPM wire to a fan. I didn't know you could do this! Very cool, thanks for this info :) Nice tutorial video too!
Thanks! It is an Aerocool FP-01. Kinda chinsy plastic construction, but works like a damn. Even has a dedicated micro SD slot! Once the alarm tolerances are set, it's a pleasure.
I have the same fan im using it for my Xbox window. :D

You could. Apparently though, you don't get the point. And that's ok.

what gage wire do you use on pwm wire and what gage wire would you use to add 4 LEDs in series to the fan?
Thanks

Does all non-rpm fans have this secret "connector" for rpm?

do u need thpose speed controlers or can you use applications to control the fans?
