  • She is Winona ♥♥♥

  • God shes so cute and also shes Goth !!! im in love with lydia lol

  • My mom named me after this character, and I just happened to develop a similar fashion sense. I don't think you can be named Lydia and not be somewhat weird, haha. But it also led to this being one of my favorite moviees ever. :)

  • Lydia is such an awesome character!

and Winona Ryder was sooo cuuute in the movie...

  • I love her!

  • i had such a crush on her when i was little and now ive grown up i know why she is too cute :D <3

  • soo cute 0:03

  • Lmaooo. My dad says im like Lydia, after i talked about how annoying my life is xDDD

  • ♥Winona Laura Ryder♥

  • WINONA RYDER IS SO BEAUTIFUL!

  • The mom might have a benzo addiction. Shocking right?

    Moms love that shit.

  • Lydia is real. Before all those common wannabe "goths" and "emo" people spawned. If I met a girl who was a true person like Lydia, I would marry her ^^

  • For goddess' sake, this was more than a decade before emo even existed. Her aesthetics aren't just gothic but totally 80s style. Also, gothic in its origins was a reaction against society which went even further than punk, rejecting not just the future (no future!) but even the present, therefore the interest in the victorian, romantic, etc.

  • @gapreg Yeah, there have always been dark minded individuals with interests or tastes outside of the "norm". Emo or gothic is just a recent, modern word to describe these people. Same way "faggot" started being used to describe homosexuals in the 19th century. It used to mean a bundle of wood, or a cranky old woman.

  • @TempleOfInanna2 The etymology of that word is particularly disturbing... the bundles of wood to which it originally referred were used to get a fire going, and they started applying the term to us during a time when we were routinely burned without fanfare just before people accused of witchery... they were essentially calling us kindling.

  • I love her :)

  • hahah prince valium

  • Oh look, a goth/emo turf war. what a suprise.

On a more relevent note, Lydia's awesome XD

  • I cant help but feel a little bad for her when she says "I myself am strange and unusual" and looks down...in a way she's saying she's ignored, like the ghosts are. :"(

  • @AlwaysRandomGirl247L: Hence why she befriends them, Beetlejuice included (especially given the scrapped sequel that might make its final arrival or the cartoon series released a year following the film).

  • she is cute, but emo

  • @Kristhor

    She's not emo.

    Retard.

  • @Kristhor no no no no NO! this movie was made in 1988, there was no emo. she is goth. not fricken emo. just because someone wears all black dosnt not make them emo!

  • @MizzArtiztic not just cos, also she behaves like a emo

  • @Kristhor no sweetie, i know goth, i am gothic. she is not emo.

  • @MizzArtiztic well in my mind goths aren't desperate, that's just stereotype....

  • @Kristhor goths are darker than emos. and being "emo" is just a cheap knock of of being goth.

  • @MizzArtiztic by darker you mean more desperate and sad?

  • Great delivery, I love her :)

  • I have a crush on Winona Ryder : /

  • ugh my dad named me lydia because of beetlejuice lmao but knowing its a tim burton movie im ok with it :P

  • @kawaiiableSushi La! How old are you?

  • @kawaiiableSushi It's a great name what are you talking about. I don't have or want children but if i were to have a girl I'd probably call her Lydia. One of few names I actually like.

  • I was just like that in high school except for the whole girl part of course.

  • LOL when I was a kid I thought Lydia said "She's sleeping with Prince *VALIANT* tonight," not prince Valium.

I thought she meant she was having some good dream lmao!

  • OMG I love that character....

  • i love the way she looks down after strange and unusual.

  • @muppetnut And I love the way she looks up and raises her eyebrows when Barbara says "You look like a normal girl to me." :)

  • You're exactly right; besides being strange and unusual.

  • :).

  • does anybody else notice that as the movie progresses, lydia becomes more comfortable in her own skin and stops professing and bemoaning her differeneces from those around her? we go from the girl who hates everyone and wants to be dead to the girl who seems pretty happy and loves the people around her.

and personally, im very happy for her, despite knowing shes a fictional character.

  • @LunarSorceress thats the point of the movie...its symbolic for her meeting the so called dead ppl who had more life than her parents...in addition she felt cmfortable n related to them...basically the good ppl go from being punished by the cruel careless ppl to the good ppl prevailing lol =)

  • hehehe I love Lydia!! she is so cute ^^

  • @saiyajinheartless i think she is more pretty then cute,
