You're going to save polar bears by tranquilizing them, tagging them, and putting satelite radios on their necks? How is this helping them? Sounds like a good way to make money and have little road trips to me.

It's to track their population and their migration paths so that scientists notice any abnormalities in their habitat from global warming / habitation loss. That just two reasons out of many others.

@modlite11 wow you're not very smart. by tracking them scientists learn about their habitat, whether they are affected by human migration or global warming, how many cubs they are having....etc
