What a set of pipes he had then. Such resonance, and all so effortless and unstudied. Just a giant vocal talent. We tend to remember the latter-day Bing doing orange juice commercials and going buh-buh-buh-buh, but he once could SING LIKE A GIANT and we are lucky enough to have the record of it!
I thought to myself, "I would like to see a clip Bing Crosby singing that temptation song but I bet nobody has it"....Lost that bet. Thanks for uploading.
Linda. Interpretação inesquecível com uma dramaticidade fora do comum. Bing Crosby nos leva em sonhos a coisas do nosso passado. Enquanto existirem pessoas sensíveis, este belissimo clip de 1933 será imortal.
This is one of my favorite of Bing's. No one ever covered it as well as he did. Haunting and powerful; especially the way he builds it and then opens up full throttle midway through.
Beautiful lyrics. I get this song stuck in my head all the time. It just makes me want to break out a slow waltz in the middle of no where. *imagines waltzing in the grocery store*
Probably his finest hour from his finest period (28-34) in my opinion. I've never heard a finer version of this song., though had Russ Colombo recorded it, it would have been outstanding too.
wow this is a beautiful song! does anybody know where i can download this song to my ipod??? also, bing crosby was so young and handsome in this movie=-)
I love this song. Bing was the best crooner of the 30's and 40's until old blue eyes (Frank Sinatra) won the hearts of the bobbysox generation. I love them both.
I really enjoyed yhis version of the song. I also liked the Everly Brothers release from the late 50s. This is one of those timeless songs that go on and on. I really cannot decide which version I like better. They are both super. I really appreciate the post. I also just got a copy of the movie. Thank you for putting this up. They don't write songs like this any more nad to be a golden age. thank you again.
Great song a real classic. This is the "smooth" version. Rock version by the Everly Brothers demonstrates how a well written song can be modified a bit and still come across beautifully. Rock version released in the late 50s. What else is there to say. This song is timeless. Thank you for post. They just do not release songs like this one any more. This era was a golden age.

Thanks! The 78 version is good, but this is better...just wish they had stretched it out to at least 2:30!

@kovik62 Yes, this has yet to be bettered. From what I believe to be his best period late 20s to 1934.

This is sucj a beautiful song. Bings sings it so smoothly and romantically and the woman he's singing it to..Fifi Dorsey.. is beautiful.

Yes, this is also one of my favorite times in Bing's career. His song "Beautiful Girl" (from the same film) is in the same style and great too!

Your Uncle was Arthur Freed? Wow, very cool. Freed was an underrated genius and one of my lyric-writing heroes.

Your Uncle, Arthur Freed, was arguably the greatest Hollywood lyricist of all time. His work with Herb Nacio Brown is legendary.

I absolutely agree. We just saw "Singin' in the Rain" on the big screen, and his work in that film is amazing.

Bing Crosby is brilliant singing this song. I'm only 13. A very enigmatic melody, don't you think?
clauclau33 2 years ago 4
@clauclau33 I agree. I think it's because much of it is in minor key.
