I shared a few comments with Desiree about this on Facebook. Dickey is one of her idols and she was extremely excited about playing with him. She has several pics posted of Dickey and her from the last few years.

I live down the road from Dickie in Sarasota....he's forever being tossed out of the Cheetah Club....can't keep his hands off the Ho's when he's had a few...You'd be amazed at how accessable national artists can be in their own neighborhoods...kinda cool.

Hey give Betts a break. At least he's not dead like most of my favorites: ie Rory Gallagher, Duane, Hendrix in hs prime, Hell I think Desiree must be an old soul the way she can jam with any one. Nugent to over the rainbow baby!!! Go girl!!

F all U Dickey haters ...He wrote some of the all time best guitar riffs and in my book is one of the greatest..I have been playing guitar for 30 years ..and tour in a band all over New England so I am not talking out my ass..Show some god damn respect its Dicky betts!!!!!!!!!!!

dickey is an amazing guitar player but drugs and alcohol over ran that which is sad but he will always be one of my favorite guitarist would love to see him play with the brothers again but highly doubt that

I love Dickey... he's a huge influence of mine.... but I saw a few yrs ago so messed up in Charlotte that they had to stop "Rambling Man" and start all over again. God Bless him. He did give me his bottle of Bud, though. I will never get rid of that.

She is better than him on her worst day. I have tired of hearing him hit all those sour, flat notes as he tries to make the songs sound different. Maybe it's the drugs and alcohol but Christ this has been going o since the late 90's. Enough is enough retire already. I used to love his playing but that was a long time ago.

Dickey is still playing and touring with his son Duane on guitar. A musician friend of mine told me Dickey is still all messed up on drugs and alcohol and recently left the stage because he was so messed up and Duane Betts picked up the slack. I guess he came back on stage for second set after them got him sober or tooted up. Again this is a third person story so take with a grain of salt. My opinion is he WAS great, now pretty bad. An original ABB member told me it was DB gone or no ABB.

Uhhhh... Well, O.K., But this gig was beneath Desiree Bassett. I presume Pops used some of his contacts and lined this up and, well any and all exposure is good at this point. Somebody should've sat Dickey down beforehand, showed him a couple of youtube vids of Desiree, of just what it is she does.Watching Desi stand to the side and play chords for these guys is like watching Lance Armstrong ride a tricyle with kids in a playground.
