Its a bit like deep space 9 that spin off of star treak years ago. One of the characters has a paricite alien inside them they live in a symbiotic relationship, the host body a young freedom fighter influences the alien one. The whole human race has been adapted by these aliens and only a few humans are left.
it's more fun to read. it's about an alien who lives in a human body and begins to learn what it means to be human, because unlike the majority of her species, her host retains her own personality (kinda like split personality). this is my all-time favorite book, and that's saying something. does that answer your question?
