I always hear from sewing experts to never sew over your needles because you may damage your machine or injured yourself. Lucky for you that you have great sturdy machine. T4S
Yes, the machine has to have a slant shank, which allows a certain amount of movement of the foot so it can sew over pins. Singer Sewing Machines have this type of shank. ;)
Sorry, I don't draft my own patterns. I'm a technician, Cap'n, not an artist. ;)
That said, you might try these instructions: wikihow(dot)com(slash)Use-Princess-Seams-to-Take-in-Your-Clothing .
I did purchase a program once, DressMaker I think it was called, where you can draft with your measurements and pre-programmed designs. It isn't for me, though. I need step by step garment construction instructions.
Wow, thank you so much for this. I just made a top like this and I didnt know why I was having a hard time sewing it. Now I know the right way and I am so thankful for this video.
Happy sewing! I love princess style. In fact, when I shop for ready-made, I pretty much only look for princess. I never feel like other styles suit me very well. Enjoy!

@WentasticBomBastic Thanks, my mom gave me that pin cushion when I was a teenager. It is so much more "me" than a tomato pin cushion!

Is it difficult to draft a princess seam?
On the video, superb job!

Great video! I always worry about the durability of clipped seams but I see by the way you clip there's no reason to.

You can also finish each seam with zig zag (see my video) and/or double sew the seam. It will largely depend on your fabric.
