The function of the queen is the subject for a lot of debate. The way I see it is this: The Borg are basically a group of godlike machine-people. The Borg 'units' are created or assimilated from many different species. All these Borg basically are the limbs of one creature, one consciousness, which is the hive-mind. The queen is basically the brain of that being.

The acting in those sci-fi series is usually so contrary to what the beings are supposed to be. Why would they have very human (Western) facial expressions? Data and the Borg queen should be way beyond revealing doubts, fears, hesitation, boredom, agitation, etc in their face. It's so inconsistent with the concept of their being. That makes it look so amateurish to me and I lose interest.

i'm talking about the REAL Borg. There are such people. Not with wires sticking out their heads like this obviously. But human beings that literally share a mind-network or 'hive-mind'. It's an occult phenomenon. They are connected psychically somehow, exactly like the Borg, and literally share the same group mind. They refer to themselves as 'we', are TOTALLY psychic, and told me they were the real 'masters' of this planet, and joked "You will be assimilated".

I have to ask, In which episodes was the Borg queen played by Ms Thompson? And why did they deside not to use her in the final episode. i thought she did a great job, Ms Krige of course was first in the movie and was great as well. I was just wondering why?

Actually I made a mistake. I saw that it was Voyager, and I knew that Susanna Thompson played the Borg Queen in Voyager. But I forgot Alice Krige reprised her role as the Borg Queen in the last episode.

the only bad thing is, that the borg queen always dies in the end. - thats typical for voyager: the borg are the loosers. If they make a ST XII, i would prefer to see earth assimilated than another starfleet fan movie.

if Star Trek will come to an end, they should do a trilogy of how the Borg assimilate the the omega-particle and after that the known galaxy.

I thought about the Queens death like this: when the Queen dies her mind will rejoin with the rest of the Collective. So the Queen really can't die, she just loses her body.
