  • absolutely amazing video and love the song as well!

  • Their language is beautiful!!

  • What is the title of this song in Inuit?

  • @schlagerhansi

    Inuit means people direct translation

  • @nallunnguaq

    Hi,

I know what "Innuit" means, but I don't know the title of the song, as I don't understand the language. "Tatanami...?"

  • I'm white as far as I know (may be part native). My heart feels this. Keep your hearts open to those who have fallen in love with this land. God has spoken to our hearts, embrace us as brothers.

  • sweet

  • he sang this to me too...when i was undergoing chemo for my leukemia...when he was run over and had brain surgery someone sang this to him (he was 4) he thinks it was his grandma...

  • @mamadthomas1 Aye

  • But he goes by his "Legal" name that sounds tearible but I can't think of the right word. me and my little bro and sis do too but I am thinking of replacing my middle name with my native name when i am able ( again that sounds horrible but forgive me I really don't know a lot about this as you can probally tell.)

  • is there a translation for this song its sounds so beautiful

  • @lady86vak I'm not sure this is a serious question, but I'll answer just in case it is.

This is an extremely famous English hymn called "Amazing Grace" by an 18th-Century Anglican pastor named John Newton. Enter it into any search engine and you'll find lyrics. Wikipedia has complete and accurate articles on both the song and the writer.

  • @lady86vak Hayley Westernra, Amazing Grace with lyrics

  • This song soothes me and my mom.

  • In Memory of Troy Davis...

May you find the love and peace we did not give you!!!

  • my husbands grandmother sang this to him when he was badly hurt as a child. 45 years later when i was undergoing chemo he remembered the words...after hearing this song..we both survived, both of us beating the odds...coincidence? maybe......but maybe not.....

  • @mamadthomas1 Don't be stupid...

  • @RazorRabidz ..back at you....

  • @mamadthomas1 Are you really so naive that you actually believe that a song has the power to cure cancer? Come on.. It's a good song, but not THAT good....

  • Lovely. Lost for words. It is so tranquil, sincere, heartfelt and moving.

  • isn't she Canadian?

  • In Quebec they teach us to call the Inuits "Inuit", the Innu "Metis" and every others, if not by the name of their tribes or of their linguistic group, we call the "Amerindians"

I don't know if this info is useful in any way...

Though even if I never was a fan of this song, I must say it is very pleasant to hear in Inuktituk : the words seem to flow even better and it seems more heartfell than many version you can find in english

  • I played this for my mother just hours before she died. I knew she would soon understand the Inuit words of the song and my Choctaw words I spoke as she passed on and came to know all things..

  • @hunt458

sorry to hear your mom's passing, just like mine. She gave us life to live. She came in life's full circle.Taught me to be a better person,be generious for those you love.Be helpful like me I gave blood so others can see tommorow.

Sorry Phillish but you are incorrect - Inuit people are not first nations. We prefer to be called Inuit or Aboriginals...we will kindly correct you if called anything else

  • Excellent is the only word that will describe it !

  • Amazing Grace is a classic, no matter what language it's sung in. However, this is the first time I've heard it in Inuktitut. It is truly beautiful.

  • People who cloud the truth will have no followers.

  • Ways in this world. Yes we can remember the future. We don't need your phones to talk far away. We can hear our ancestors and do listen. We have our power to change our futures with what we found out in the future and sent to ourselves in meditations. We have to power to take back who we are and what we are here for. It is not someone else's dreams it is our dreams. We can listen to their lies.... but it is our responsiblity to question them and to check. We have to take our power back.

  • We were born to talk about ourselves. To self define who we are with our talents and loves. We got here we stood in line they lied to us. They said we could not think for ourselves. They said we had no choices. They said we could not talk to dead people or listen to our ancestors wisdoms. They said we could not think together. They said we had to believe them and do what was best for them.

Now scientifically we have to discover our own selves our own definitions of self and find our

  • I cant put in to words how beautiful and touching this is. would love to know more about the inuit people.

  • @sweetiecuddlecakes be better if it was an actual inuit song and not some crusader song

  • @wpantaneiro Oh i wish i knew what that meant, sorry! Maybe you could translate it for me? Thankyou.

  • @sweetiecuddlecakes I do not speak English, sorry, but I'll translate by google: "Are the peoples of the north, which we call Eskimos. Inhabit Canada and Alaska. His stories are fantastic and its legends, stir the imagination and lift our spirits (see the movie: BROTHER BEAR) "

    Hugs from Brazil ...

  • @wpantaneiro Oi, muito obrigada! Abracos e beijos! Desculpe, eu nao falo portugues. Obrigada, tchau. xx

  • Why bicker over titles in the face of something as beautiful as this?

  • Awesome********************and more

Many of us will gather to sing this beautiful song to honor some dear friends of ours especially a wonderful lady, her son and her loved ones. The Great Spirit is alive, thank you!

  • this video touched my heart. The words are beautiful and th photos to go with it were just amazing that realy does not fit it outstanding i more like it

  • As I said, many just prefer their Tribal name as their identity.

One thing seen a lot in the Southwest is,

    "Real Eyes... Realize Real Lies."

Really, though we're all better off steering clear of doubletalk and look to the

    long haul.

    What are words without substance?

  • i guess the reason why they named it as native american is because they can't accept that she is native from canada and all the other natives in the world calling them what they call them these days. thats what i think .

  • "i guess the reason why they named it as native american is because they can't accept that she is native from canada" America is a Continent. They don't call them Native United Statesians or Native Canadians because they have been around longer than our nations. That is why they are called Native Americans, AKA indigenous people.

  • @kenton Just a simple question. Are not Inuits Native Americans in the continental sense? No strife, just curious. Do we need to say Native North Americans? After all,"real" Indians live in India. If someone from India moves to America, Are they then an American Indian? Technically, they'd be Indo-Americans,I guess. PC linguistics is hopeless. Of course,I know that many "Indians" despise the very word "Indian" and have many colorful alternatives. Many prefer to be called by their tribal name.
  • The "Native Americans" in Canada pefer to be called "First Nations" other anything else. The Inuits are a group of First Nations that live in and near the Arctic, along with the Yup'ik and many other First Nations groups.

  • @Phillish thank you for educating us. :)

  • @Phillish

Who is the Inuit lady singing Amazing Grace ? Wonder if she has other songs on You Tube. I though the Sioux in Saskatchewan prefered to be called "aboriginal" Americans, which is not a far leap from 1st people.

  • @richardcwiggins - Susan Aglukark is the singer of Amazing Grace. She has a few other songs, including 'O Siem', 'Nina Ha Ho' and numerous others.

I'm sure that the names is what they preferred to be called within the "tribe" as Americans call it, or "Nation" as Canadians do.

I'm used to the first nations, because it's what the Tsilh'qotin, Dakelh and Secwepemc people pefer to use *shrugs* I just thought that was more appropriate than "indian" or "native".

  • @Phillish Inuit is politically Correct because, they ARE the Inuit people, Why? because there nothing like the Cree nations, or any others Native to Canada, there for making them "Inuit" even there cultures and tradition are different from all the other "First Nations" and when we got to North America, they were nomadic, so technically they werent a nation

  • @SavageRX1 - Normadic? That's quite racist there. Their medicine and culture was far superior to the "British" or anyone else's at that time. They chose not to waste animals, they used all parts of them, not to mention thanking the Earth for enabling them to eat, make clothes and they made sure to give back as much as they could. We're literally destroying the Earth now with our cities... Why? Because we're greedy, want everything our way.

  • @Phillish listen instead of voice

  • @Phillish Nomadic is not a racist term. It means 'communities of people who move from one place to another, rather than settling permanently in one location.' (Wikipedia).

  • @Phillish Actually, you are incorrect. First Nations encompass all Aboriginal people in Canada who are neither Inuit or Metis. Inuit do not fall under the banner of First Nations here in Canada because the Inuit are found in many places throughout the world, including the US (in Alaska) and Siberia. But you are correct in that the term "Native American" isn't used here. Typically when we hear that term in Canada, we think of the Aboriginal peoples found in the United States.

  • @Phillish Inuit is in no way shape or form first nation. They are entirely different.

  • @Phillish i thoght they where japaness?

  • @mycrotchbiatch Verry ignorant

  • @Phillish I know what you mean. I am Netherlands and donot want to be called dutch. Same thing.

  • @multideovolente

arent people from the Netherlands called "Dutch"?

and whats the difference between "Deutsch" and "Dutch"?

    Deutschland = Germany

    Dutch = Nederlands?!?!

  • @alikos88 We are called the dutch by others. I donot like to be called a dutch woman because of the very negative way that word is used by English speaking people. Deutsch means German in the German language.

Deutschland and Nederland are two different Europian countries and neighbour countries like Canada and the USA.

  • @multideovolente

okay I am really confused now...

how can "Dutch" be used in a negative way among Englishers?

since the national anthem "Het Wilhelmus" has the line

    "Ben ik van Dutisen Bloed"

"I am of Dutch Bood" - its from the point of view of Wilhelm of Nassau and he seems to use the term as collective of the people of Nederlands?

  • @multideovolente : I'm a belgian, and I've never mixed up dutch and deutsch, maybe because I'm a teacher in english and dutch and I like foreign languages... The english speaking people won't use the word "Deutsch", so I don't see why they would use "dutch" in a negative way, well all my english speaking friends, from the UK or the USA never mentioned such a thing...

  • @UsGal65

    thanks for clarifying!

so is it similar to the Flemish - Walloon in Belgium?

are they regional divisions or lingusitic?

  • @alikos88 Yes, the people from the Netherlands are called the Dutch, Deutsch means German in the german language, and Nederlands is the name of the dutch language (dutch also) in dutch - bit complicated, isn't it ? In addition, some people mix up Holland and the Netherlands, when Holland is a province of that country, Amsterdam is in Northern Holland... Hope this clarified things a bit ? :o)

  • when columbus came to north america he was looking for a fast route to india and saw the native americans and thought they were the same "race", seeing their skin color are similar. thats why

  • This is a beautiful video.. my only problem is the description. Susan is not native American she is Canadian and she is Inuit. No offense meant but native American are of Indian decent which Susan is not...

  • words cannot descibe how beautiful this is

  • Really amazing

  • this is so pure clear wonderful to listen too.

    puts one at peace.
