I've taken martial arts for 12 years and more then half the moves they teach us are to hard to do on normal opponents. Because they just swing like there's no tomorrow.
Watching these videos and expecting to use them easily in a fight is like going to a batting cage and expecting the same result at an actual baseball game. In the cage, you're knocking them out of the park every time. Then when the pitcher in a real game is throwing all kinds of junk, and your lucky if you can even connect with the ball, you're like, "This isn't the way it was in the cage!" Same difference. You try some of these crazy ass moves, and you're going to get your teeth knocked out.
@lucas2718 Most of your statement is true. I want to add, though, the matter of the skill of two individuals. Your example with the pitcher. It is true, but is it always the case? No. (Just to add, I have experience on both martial arts and baseball levels.) Batting cages are only to imporve accuracy and to get a feel for baseball. Then, you go and practice in real situations, with friends or something, to better yourself further. People get beat up because they skip to this stuff.
You do realise practically all of these moves are allowed in MMA, shows how alot of the traditional martial arts moves are just theory that rarely work against a tough opponent.
there are so many of these videos when the victim is just standing there like a bot on a video game, not very helpful. some of these moves rarely happen.
the thing about all these moves are, you believe when you get into a fight that yu will easly get someone in an arm bar or a trangle hold or a kamra but once you step into a position of really fighting, its not going down like that. You must wear someone down first then finish the off... its not as easy os you would think.
The moves come from Kali, Escrima, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Pankration, Silat, Karate, Bokator, Savate & MMA (MMA having taken moves from a variety of other martial arts/combat sports)...
@hybriddragons jiujutsu came first. Judo and bjj came 2nd and 3rd. Judo was created in the late 1940s by jigoro Kano. The same guy who trained the Russian who created Sambo. Do your research don't just spit out trash
@ArosIrwin Yes, it's a "gentleman's sport" designed to be a game, much like capoeira (today's purpose of it), with the Roda. The goal is to submit your opponent without injuring or embarassing them or yourself. It's considered a very strict and disciplined style, but few practitioners of it are actually adhering to these standards..
@steveecker what? there's lots of moves in judo demonstrations that if done on an opponent that doesn't know what you're gonna do and which way to flip he'll end up with a broken something.
@mrkiky Right, hence the respect of the sport.. You HAVE the power to hurt or kill someone, but you don't... lt shows self-control and compassion. We all have 2 arms and 2 legs (for the most part).
By combining Potential and Kinetic energy, the sound quality can cause paralysis. Combine this with the techniques being cut up, and your opponent can easily be killed.
@HybridDragons Actually Judo is derived as the modernized Japanese sport version of oldschool jujutsu. It won favor as Japan's official martial art/sport a long time ago when Judo practitioners (who spent more time sparring than doing forms) proved they could pwn the traditional jujutsu guys. The pioneer Gracies were Judo practitioners themselves, but then modified it, added more techniques, and focused primarily on ground strategy to make BJJ. But yeah seriously, it's all the same stuff.
@98nfsmw98 almost any offensive move can cause death if applied in a certain way. the thing you have to watch for is how likely each move is to accidentally cause death when not deliberately applied for that purpose. that varies with each move.
never fight with gray guys...

@Ellis12754 wat r u talkin about. they're the same thing, jus jiu jitsu is slightly modified.
pyro69man 2 years ago
Finnaly someone who knows something about martial arts... @at Ellis12754 Brazillian Jiu Jitsu is all judo, Bjj came from JJ which came from Judo.
BJJ simply emphasizes the ground game but all the BJJ moves are existent in Judo.
