what ppl don't realize is that with jui jitsu, if you want to be able to use this in a real world scenario you need to have access to sum1 willing to practice with you. you can't practice grappling by yourself anymore than you can learn to swim without water.

Umm I love Bjj but this dude is a blue belt why is he teaching a class? Also down in the gracie acadmy they teach to close the distance between them take them to the ground and do what you want there you dont want more distance between you and your oppenet because that leaves more room for punching.

Any MA against a knife is high risk at the best. Also, MMA people don't typically train to take on a knife attacker. So, it's essentially a self-defense practitioner against a sport practitioner.

But, it's "human weapon". Probably the dumbest place to get any real scoop on MA.

I'd say it depends on the practitioner and the style of the enemy. bjj has great groundwork, but a good tkd or karate fighter knows how to stay up. plus in the traditional styles they do have joint locks as well. so i'd say it depends on the skill of the fighter as well as the martial art

Knows how to stay up? I think that claim has been repeatedly refuted over the years. So much so, in fact, that it's absurd that anyone would try to argue it anymore.

I'm not saying TMA can't have good take down defense, but people aren't going to learn it from TMA study.

hey i'm a TKD black belt and i've sparred against bjj blue and purple belts, and i can tell you that a bjj blue or purple belt can beat the snot out any karate, TKD, kung-fu, or any other martial artist black belt any day of the week.

Hahah, even a blue belt can teach. A purple belt, under most every academy around, is able to promote up to blue belt and even with a fighter stripe. I love when people who know nothing about BJJ try to act like they actually know something. BJJ is not a McDojo thing like TKD or Karate, there are not one-year black belts
