I love when you see an electric or hybrid car. Its usually some "Earth Friendly" snob. Who parks it on their asphalt driveway, at a 5 bedroom house, in some yuppy housing plan. You can usually see these "Eco Warriors" at a Starbucks, or Barnes & Noble, or some "Organic" store. It takes 1000s of gallons of fuel to get their coffee to the store, 1000s of trees for their books, 100s of gallons of crude to make their driveway, 100s of trees for their home. I think "Hippy" must mean "Hypocrite".

Does welfare even cover Soy milk & Imitation meat? Welfare is a joke anyhow... I have to take 10 drug tests, pay 30% in taxes & bust my ass for some crackhead to trade food stamps for drugs. Everyone on welfare should pass a drug test, we could eliminate 80% of useless spending.

I actually do agree with you about what you say about the welfare system and second your vote for mandatory drug testing (regularly, not just once) for recipients of the program. If you're so concerned about solely humans, don't you realize we humans are tied to the earth & its other life, literally?

People are not chained up and tortured for entertainment (as bears in "bear baiting" events are), people are not thrown in cages to live out miserable lives, people are not shot in the skull with a stun gun and then their throats slit. All the human suffering you bring up (aids, cancer, autism) is an outside force.

I feel horrible about the 3 year old you mentioned, as well as the veterans (my boyfriend is a vet), but I feel equally as bad about the bear-baiting practices in Pakistan and the skinning alive of raccoon dogs in China. We need to protect lives who are weaker than us. WE might not be equal, but suffering and pain is universal.
