Once again, since some people apparently can't read, this is a REPRODUCTION. No one, anywhere, any time, has ever said that this was an original. And to correct your misinformation, it is, once again, built on a welded steel frame, with plywood and aluminum sheeting used for most of the body. We are not the original builders, that is true. The original builder did nothing to it, and when we purchased it, the entire thing needed to be taken apart and rebuilt. It took over 2 years of research
on ACTUAL surviving Sd.Kfz.222 Armored Cars and countless man hours of labor to get it to look the way it did when you SAW it at Conneaut. As for the wheels, once again, I repeat, the wheels were made smaller out of necessity in order for it to fit into a garage. Is there anything else you would like me to repeat from a previous post?
If you read the description, you will see that it says in the first line that it is a reproduction. No one, anywhere, any time, said that it was completely authentic.
I'm in this unit and helped put this thing together, but I wasn't at this event.
For those asking about the wheels, yes they are about 1 inch smaller than originals, we had to make this sacrifice in order to get the thing into the garage.
The MG42 is gas-fired, which is why it doesn't sound all that great. It never does.
how does the elevation work on the gun??? and could the be made in a video?

I seen this at conneaut and it is was made out of wood and bondo.
They did not even build it, they got from some guy out west for $8,000.
Look how small the wheels are.

what is the mesh on the turret for
twokiwicats 1 year ago
The mesh is there to prevent grenades from being thrown into the top of the turret.

I think it would look alot better in a tan (gelb braun) camouflage, green stripes (kursk) or even the normandy camo
